Good Morning Football: Week 10 Reaction!
People. This is Good Morning
Football, presented by old
Trapper beef jerky. It’s Monday, November 10th. We are one game
away from week ten being
complete. I’m Jamie Erdahl here in Los Angeles, as always.
Manti Te’o to my left. Isaiah
Stanback joins us today in from Dallas Isaiah. Great to see you.
And Kyle Brandt still don’t
know the end of your shirt saying good better best.
Because all I know is that
there’s a man who screams with his jugular out in Chicago. So
you can finish the rest of us
since the bears won yesterday. Yeah. It’s a man who coaches a
six and three team who keeps
winning, but we still don’t know if they’re good or not.
Guys, we don’t know a lot of
things about these teams, but we’re getting the answers
quickly. We’ll get more tonight.
We got Packers. We’ve got Eagles. We got to wrap up the
whole entire weekend on a
little program that we call Good Morning Football. Let’s
roll. Come on. Welcome to Good
Morning Football presented by Old Trapper. That’s right. Gmfb
on a Monday everybody. Hope
you’re doing great. Hope it was a great weekend filled with
family and football. Most
importantly, Jamie, Manti, Kyle and Isaiah. An entire day of
games. Jonathan Taylor kicked
things off for the Colts in Germany, and it finished Kyle
with a Sunday night outing, at
least for the Chargers. I’m not sure if it was a full blown
100% outing for the Steelers
here in LA. Yeah, let’s find out. Rodgers has had some
infamous trips to California
over the years, especially with the Packers not often gone.
Well, you know his history with
the 40 Niners. He’s lost to the Chargers as well. But listen
Tom was fired up. It’s all the
Steelers fans usual deal there. They take over the place. And
early on the riders. Steelers
are winning three nothing but wait watch this Khalil Mack his
old NFC North nemesis. We got a
safety folks a safety. He tries to escape. He gets out of the
end zone then goes back in and
runs into his own lineman loses the ball. He’s very lucky to
get it back. It could have been
a touchdown for the Chargers. So would he just iron things
out from there? Not really.
Second quarter now 5 to 3. Beautiful score. Padres versus
Pirates 5 to 3. Look at this.
Intercepted RJ Mickens. The rook returns it ten yards and a
sixth round pick out of Clemson.
It’s going to be that kind of night. Here comes Herbert 5 to
3. Don’t make the score change.
They did too bad I like seeing that 5 to 3. It’s weird but
that’s Ladd McConkey 15 yard
touchdown. Now 12 to 3 McConkey has four touchdowns on the
season Herbert had a pretty
mild night by his standards but efficient. Fourth quarter 15 to
3. We have three points as the
Steelers fans what are you doing Ladd McConkey down that
sideline. Get him down. He’s
deceptively fast. Jalen Ramsey better get him. And he cuts
inside. Oh they get him 58
yards McConkey finished with 107 yards on just four catches.
Two plays later first and goal.
Come on Vardell you love him. He’s all over fantasy football.
He scores two yard touchdown.
He finished with 25 carries for 95 and a touchdown. And then
Calvin Austin at third off his
hands. Let’s watch Aaron Rodgers reaction. He seems
really thrilled that he threw
the ball accurately in his receiver. Didn’t catch it in
three two. Are it just makes me
laugh. He has no attempt to conceal that and neither does
Jim Harbaugh. Look at coach. He
needed one. He got one big home win against a quality opponent.
Very one sided game. You know
who was great in this game? The Chargers defense. They held the
Steelers to ten points 25 to 10.
The Chargers have a very good seven and three record
afterwards. Let’s hear from
Justin Herbert. And let’s hear from an ashen Aaron Rodgers I
thought it was a huge win for
us today. You know I thought the defense played incredibly
well today. And to be able to
get some turnovers like that, a bunch of huge stops and special
teams getting getting a
turnover to you know, they made our job so much easier. And you
know I thought the defense and
special teams played so well today. Our defense played
really well tonight. And
offensively we were pretty bad. So we got to find a way to get
open on third down. I got to
find a way to hit him and because that was just some bad
ball. So funny Kyle Brandt
talking about the scores and the offense and this and that.
And the second he goes, the
Chargers defense is like a dog that someone said snack or walk.
And he’s like oh you ran. Go
ahead Mantai Chargers did go outside. Were you. Good boy. Go
outside. Chargers defense go on
Manti guys go on. I also had to perk up on my on my classmate
Keenan Allen breaking Antonio
Gates reception record all time. Congratulations to him. But
again the defense my ears went
up. Everything went up. And when I watched this defense
they had a safety. They had
three turnovers. They didn’t allow a touchdown until the
last drive of the game for the
Pittsburgh Steelers. There’s a lot of talk about great
defenses and great defensive
coordinators. I think we need to start putting Kevin Minter
into that conversation, because
what I saw in their attack of Aaron Rodgers and the
Pittsburgh Steelers was a game
plan that was specifically designed for Aaron Rodgers.
Like, you watched that that
pass rush that they had. Nobody ran beyond the level of the
quarterback. It was almost like
they knew where Aaron Rodgers wanted to scramble. He likes to
go here and they were talking
about it on the broadcast all night long. Like Aaron Rodgers
likes to escape here. But for
some reason there always seems to be a charger there. And then
how many times have we seen
Aaron Rodgers on a run play, be able to throw the ball to his
receiver on a slant or a little
fade? There’s a play that I saw last night where you see Bud
Dupree, the outside linebacker,
the rusher. Watch him just drop right into the zone. And Aaron
Rodgers like wait how are you
there? Why how did you know I was going to go into that
little era. It’s like Kevin
Minter knew like hey at this part of the field on this side
of the field, he’s going to
want to go to this guy. So always have somebody there. So
I wanted to give Kevin Minter
his flowers because it hasn’t been just this game, but he’s
done it for the past two years
as a defensive coordinator for the LA Chargers, that he’s put
his players in positions to be
very, very dominant and execute a game plan that only gave up
ten points and really carried
the team the entire game. So shout out to Kevin Minter in
that defense. Yeah, shout out
to that defense. But did they have to do a whole lot to shut
down Aaron Rodgers. Oh don’t do
him like that I’m just saying the reality is the Pittsburgh
Steelers have not done enough.
And they did not do enough prior to the trade deadline to
help out their veteran
quarterback. He just doesn’t have enough ammo. He can throw
the ball all day long. He can
drop back all day long. All he’s going to do is hold on to
the ball. What do you see
happening here on your screen holding on to the ball. Why is
that happening? You can call it
a coverage sack I know I want to talk about the Chargers
defense, or you can just talk
about the fact that he doesn’t have anybody else to throw the
ball to. Outside of DK Metcalf.
DK Metcalf was three for seven on that attempt yesterday. Why
did Aaron Rodgers turn the ball
over through the air yesterday? Because he was trying to force
the ball to DK Metcalf. Why is
he trying to force the DK Metcalf. Because there’s nobody
else that is getting open. They
need more ammo. They need more weapons for for for Aaron
Rodgers because he can’t
utilize his legs. So if you can’t utilize your legs, you
need to surround him with
enough personnel to be able to get open. And as you just heard
him say in the post game
interview, he doesn’t have enough. Yeah, well, no more is
coming, buddy. That’s it. This
is you sign up to be on the Steelers in your 40s. That’s
fine. It’s been a good little
season to start especially. There is no ammunition coming.
There are no trades there.
There’s nothing. This is it. The Steelers have lost three
out of four. It’s not it’s not
pretty right now. The Rodgers played by far his poorest game
of the season I’m sure he would
admit that I still think this team is going to be in the
playoffs. I still do from my
cold dead hands. We may actually see this matchup in
the playoffs, guys. We may see
Steelers Chargers in the playoffs. The Chargers have
kind of getting it done. It’s
it’s Velcro and bubble gum and Silly Putty. And they’re
keeping it together with this
offensive line. They will be in the playoffs. They’ll endure.
The Rodgers thing is bad. Like
it’s it’s I’m not saying it’s the end of the season. I’m not
saying it’s the end of the line.
I just said they’re going to make the playoffs. But this is
what happens. You start out in
September. It’s warm, you’re fresh, your body feels good.
Everyone’s happy to have you
there. There’s a novelty of him being in Pittsburgh, the
freshness of Tomlin and
everything. But here we are in this like in this November part
of the season where
everything’s starting to hurt. This is a long road trip. It’s
the maybe it’s not as novel
anymore. Maybe it’s not as fun. And this is when you have to
knuckle down because this is
the Steelers 2025 like them. Otherwise this is the team
you’re going to go to bed with.
This is the team that you’re going to finish I don’t know.
It’s not good right now. He
didn’t play well. He didn’t have a lot of help. And there’s
a lot of other good games this
weekend we’re going to get into it’s Patriots Bucs shortly. But
right now I just want to go on
the record. I still believe this is usually when the
Pittsburgh Steelers find a way.
When we’re saying Rodgers looks old, the Steelers don’t look
good normally. Then they’re
like, oh wow. They won three out of four. After this. If you
have that switch click it now
because there’s some opponents coming up down the line that
can also beat you. I still
think this is a nine and eight team that squeaks into the
playoffs though. Jamie, tell me
we have another game to talk about because this one wasn’t
wildly entertaining. Well we do.
We are going to have Patriots Bucs in a second. But like I
said, when you brought up
Chargers defense, Manti is so locked in and specifically in
the era in which he played
because Manti, this is a thing you do a lot. Manti. So you say
Kevin Minter, the linebacker,
have been a prolific linebacker out of LSU who did finish his
career with the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers. You’re always saying Kevin Minter. And what
did you want to say? Jesse, man,
Jesse Minter Mantai. Jesse. Jesse I was too excited. I’m
sorry guys. Jesse Minter, Kevin
Minter, both great defensive guys. Jesse. Like I said, Kyle
Kevin Minter did finish his
career with the Bucs with would you look at that. They were
hosting the Patriots yesterday.
It all came together eventually. I’m trying to segue to all
right. This one jumps off the
schedule. This is the one. This is not Jets. Browns yesterday.
This is we call it Baker
Mayfield with an M.A. Drake Baker. All of them both fired
up scoreless early. First
quarter Baker Mayfield Emeka Egbuka. He says I want that
rookie of the year. Don’t be
making noise about Tyler Warren. I want it. Drake Maye play
action. Look at the arm on that
guy. Oh my gosh. We go to Kyle Williams who turns it up. Look
how fast he is 72 yards gone.
Patriots longest play since 2021. That is the longest
Patriots play in four years.
But Tampa is up again on a fourth and goal after some
interesting stuff. We’re going
to go to Steph Diggs. He does that in his sleep one toe down
second toe. Got it over
Winfield. That was big time I’m going to talk about that
sequence later in the later in
the show. But that was a fourth and goal and they went for it.
Third quarter Patriots start
the second half with the ball first and ten. And there he is.
He’s gone. You don’t even have
to bother running after him. That’s Treveyon Henderson 55
yards to the house. There’s all
kinds of online humor about where is he. Do they remember
he’s on the team. That woman
said, Holy cow. Unbelievable. Look at Mack Hollins is even in
there. Baker Mayfield has got
to pick it up. He’s down 11 on a third and goal rolling right.
He’s going to do the Baker
thing. Waiting waiting waiting. Tez. And if Tez scores you get
the Tez celebration I feel like
he could do two backflips in there. He’s so spry. He’s so
small. Fourth quarter. Now look
out. Treveyon Henderson is gone. You’re never going to catch him.
He’s got to be maybe the
fastest running back in the NFL right now. He’s not Jonathan
Taylor. And the funniest part
at the end of this he starts looking at the sideline. Should
I score I’m trying to do the
smart thing there. I go ahead and score. Even Drake Maye
saying get down. He doesn’t. He
gets in. They laugh about it. That’s the kind of things you
can do when you’re as good as
the Patriots right now. Top five team in the NFL in the New
England Patriots 28 to 23. They
are eight and two and licking their chops for the one seed
with seven games to play.
Buccaneers fall to six and three afterwards. Drake take it
away. What a complete game.
That’s what we said all week. Throw up to 60 minutes. It was
a good football team. We knew
if we got up they were going to come back and they came
marching back. And I was proud
of the guys for for standing up, especially our defense with a
big stop. And man, just proud
of this team. What I told the team told the offense after the
game. And at some point when
the stuff comes up during the week and whether it’s mistakes
or things we talk about and
then it shows up on Sundays, you have to have some. You have
to have some pride about you.
You got to have the fear of that failure of messing up for
your teammates. When we talk
about something, you got to have that responsibility and
accountability for the guys
around you. Games like this, when you don’t win them, it
should it should sting. It
should really, really hurt. Typically, the Todd Bowles
experience on defense. If
you’re a Buccaneers team, playing host to young
quarterback is an absolute
death trap. It’s challenging. It’s nightmare material Isaiah.
But Drake Maye went in there
and impressed. He performed he produced. It was really really
cool for the Patriots on Sunday.
And with all that that you just said this was still one of
Drake’s worst games, but
somewhat they still go out and find a way to win. Drake may
understand this. Yesterday was
the first time that he had under 100 QBR since week one. I
don’t think people are really
comprehending what he’s doing out there, and what’s making
him so good is the fact that he
is running this Josh McDaniels offense to perfection. And the
reason why I think that’s the
case is because he’s distributing the ball where the
guys are open. He’s not locking
in on one receiver. He’s not locking in on one tight end.
He’s running through his
progressions and he’s getting the ball to the guy that’s
supposed to receive the ball on
every play. And that’s why they’re number one offseason
acquisition. On the offensive
side of the ball, Diggs is just now starting to catch his foot.
He’s not he hasn’t been balling
out all year long. But what has he been doing as of late?
Catching the ball in the red
zone just like you see on your screen. What did they do
yesterday? They went out there
and finally found Treveyon Henderson who has been
disappeared all season long. Oh,
you forgot all about him like KB said. Yeah. Now here he goes,
right here, 150 yards. So these
guys are surrounding him with the resources. He’s working the
progressions and he’s just
doing what’s asked of him. He’s not going above and beyond.
He’s not trying to be a
superhero. He’s letting the guys around him make plays. And
that’s why these guys are being
successful on the offensive side of the ball. Well, you
said that you know Drake Maye
doesn’t have a specific target. He has so many different guys
that he can utilize. And it’s
just a great reflection of what Mike Vrabel has built over
there in New England. When I
watched this team, it reminds me of my favorite movie,
Remember the Titans in their
Julius Campbell tells Gary Bertier attitude reflects
leadership, captain. Well, what
what does the attitude look like? Let’s go to Treveyon
Henderson. I mean, you talked
about it in in the highlight. Like to give you some context,
this is a young man that
averaged seven carries per game up to this point. There are
parts where like how are you
going to use this guy. He only had one touchdown coming into
this game and there’s him on a
second touchdown. He could have easily being in a young rookie
running back in this league.
You already know that. He was like man I have another
opportunity to score a second.
And then there’s this man. Look at Mac. Every time his
teammates scored a touchdown he
would celebrate in this way. But where does the leadership
come from. It comes from Mike
Vrabel. Look at look at look at him. Look at him. But the
leadership comes from Mike
Vrabel. How many head coaches do you see this. This is Mike
Vrabel. This isn’t the head
trainer. This isn’t a teammate coming over to check on his his
brother on the ground. That’s
Mike Vrabel the head coach that came over there and held the
hand of his teammate. I can’t
tell you how much it means to I know Barmore, who is the hurt
player there, but everybody
else on that sideline and on the field to see their head
coach on the knee by their
teammate to make sure that he’s okay. So you ever wonder why
the New England Patriots and
one year and not even one year in about ten weeks was able to
flip that thing? 180 just look
no further than Mike Vrabel and the culture that he’s built
there and in such a short
amount of time. And you’ll get your answer. Yeah. I mean, this
is this is an amazing thing
that’s going on. This is a mike Vrabel masterclass right now I
look at eight and two. They won
this game I don’t want to say comfortably but I thought they
won it pretty easily. I thought
they were the better team for most of the entire game on the
road against the Tampa team
that’s been there before. And let’s just look at the broader
context. Who do you absolutely
love in the AFC right now? Just we’ve played nine games. Some
teams have played ten games.
Who do you love. You’re going to tell me that you love
Baltimore right now. They’re
they’re they’re pretty dangerous. Baltimore’s four and
five. They’re going to tell me
that you really like Kansas City Kansas City’s five and
four. You tell me you love
Buffalo. How could you possibly tell me that after yesterday?
You love this Buffalo team?
Then you got the Colts. All right. The Colts are pretty
good. They got they’re eight
and two. Guess who has eight and two. The Patriots. The
Patriots have not lost in seven
straight games. They’re undefeated on the road. They’ve
won in Buffalo in Tampa. Like
if they’re not the one seed. Try to try to talk me into
Denver. Try to talk me into
Indianapolis. We’re going to have a fight over the last 5 to
6 weeks about who is getting a
bye. And if you were to tell me the beginning of the season, as
much as excited as they were
about we got Vrabel. May looks optimistic going into his
second year. If you were to
tell me eight and two, that is the best case scenario. Best
case, that is an outrageous
outcome. Eight and two, especially if eight and two
becomes I mean, what are we
talking about? Is this a 14 and three team? Is it a 15 and two
team? I don’t see anybody
beating them right now. They don’t do anything spectacularly.
But as you guys are pointing
out with Trevion, they’re getting better now. They got
this thing where it’s getting
cold. Let’s run more. It’s getting physical. Teams are
getting beat up more and we
take the the cover off of this project that we’ve been keeping
in the garage right now. Who
runs a four for three and has 80, 80 yard touchdowns like
that. And he’s fresh and he’s
ready. Like the Patriots aren’t just good right now. I think
the best is yet to come with
May with their weapons with Diggs like you mentioned. If
you have to tell me right now,
pick one team that you think is going to have the one seed in
the AFC. I’m taking the
Patriots. I’m taking them over Indy. I’m taking them over
Denver. I’m taking over anybody
else. They haven’t lost in two months. And they don’t lose on
the road. Like they look
awesome right now. Awesome. They look comfortable and
secure about the way that they
go out playing every weekend. And they’ve done that without
taking a break. They’re a late
in the season by team. They have a week 14 bye. And I’m not
going to say win, win, loss,
win, win, whatever. But I am going to tell you that they
play the Jets, the Bengals and
the Giants over the next three games before they get to their
week 14 bye. So consider this.
Consider the schedule. Thank you. The voice. Those are all
wins. Thank you very much Ian
Rapoport. Good morning to you I just mentioned the Giants.
They’ll take on the Patriots in
a couple of weeks on Monday Night Football. But until then
what happened to the Giants
quarterback yesterday that we need to be aware of after week
ten Jaxson Dart is now in the
NFL’s concussion protocol. Knocked out of the game
yesterday. They were up when he
was knocked out. Russell Wilson came in. A lot of bad things
happened. The Giants ended up
losing. Obviously this is a situation to monitor for the
New York Giants. Every player
responds to a concussion differently and every
concussion is different. We
don’t know right now whether or not Jaxson Dart is going to be
on the field this coming week
for the Giants, obviously there is a chance that he is not
which which could mean that
they are playing without their star. Rookie Russell Wilson was
the backup, Jameis Winston is a
three and Brian Daboll was unclear after the game about
whether or not Russ would be
the starter. So certainly there’s a chance we could see
Jameis next week, but we will
be keeping our eye on Jaxson Dart for the Los Angeles Rams.
Another big win. Another easy
win. Davante Adams a big part of it for the Rams. Just like
he was on my fantasy team. Good
job DeVante. He suffered is listed as an oblique injury. He
described it as kind of ribs
under the ribs maybe a side. He’s not. So in images and
anatomy that’s more like us.
But he did say that while it was biting during the game, he
felt better. After the game,
Sean McVay said if the score was closer, probably could have
gone back in, which is an
indication that it is not a major injury. And then you guys
mentioned the Jets. It was an
impressive, impressive win, especially when you consider
what they went through, what
they put themselves through the last week with all of the
trades still came out with the
W, but Garrett Wilson came out with a re-aggravation of that
knee injury. Remember it
started as a hyperextended knee and a subsequent ligament issue
with that knee. Missed a couple
games. Came back now out again. You do wonder if he’s going to
miss some time just to get
fully, fully healed, but likely going to have tests to
determine that later today. All
right. Rapsheet appreciate you. Talk to you in a little bit.
Kyle mentioned the Colts. How
do you feel about them? What do you believe in them? What’s
your level of that? However AFC
South what went down yesterday between the Texans and the
Jaguars. That’s a big man TD.
But so much happened before that. You know what Liam Cohen
I understand throwing up the
clipboard. What a frustrating fourth quarter. And you know
why. Demeco Ryans is smiling
and elated and jumping for joy Kyle we’re going to have the
highlight to show you why I
like the people online referring to Davis Mills as the
Mills Mafia. The Mills Mafia
had a day yesterday. Bills Mafia did not. Jonathan Taylor
is the best football player of
all time. It’s a crazy, crazy effort. Was this the best
performance in the history of
international NFL? What? He is out of his mind right now.
Colts on the road in a
different continent. Really really good international game.
If you got up early yesterday,
you should have. We’ll cover every game, every highlight,
even the one you hated. I don’t
care. We get into it. Good morning football on a Monday.
Bye bye 28. Good Morning
Football is presented by old Trapper beef jerky. What’s your
beef? Old trapper beefs camp
cravings. There you go, buddy. by the scanner. All right
Falcons. Colts was a really
good game. You just had to get up early to watch it. There it
is in Berlin Olympic Stadium.
First ever NFL game in Berlin. Sauce Gardner is there. And
Jonathan Taylor is everywhere.
Already 1716 in the fourth quarter Taylor into the scrum
and out of the scrum. And he’s
gone. He’s gone. I love running backs who can run for 80 yard
touchdowns. Normally you get
run down by corners. They’re supposed to be faster.
Combination of blocking and JT
just has breakaway speed still still it’s awesome. All right
so the Colts fight. But the
Falcons were totally game in this. They’re down five on a
second and goal Tyler Alger.
Alger had those big old shoulder pads north and south
yesterday man he got in there a
couple times. Really fierce runner. He didn’t get the crazy
highlights but now two point
conversion attempt Atlanta trying to go up. Drake London
is amazing. Sauce Gardner I saw
a tweet that says you’re not Sauce Gardner anymore. You’re
Ahmad Gardner. Oh come on, he
just showed up for one game. He joined the team late
Indianapolis trying to come
back down three less than two to play a third and 21 Daniel
Jones breaks free. He gets a
block down field. Look at DJ 17. That gets it to a fourth and
manageable as they like to say
you know who that is. That’s the money Badger. But look at
DJ with the smeared lipstick.
It’s actually blood. Fourth and two go to the rook Tyler Warren
beast and out of bounds. Tick
tick tick tick tick. Actually not because they went out of
bounds. So Michael Badgley the
money badger he had missed earlier in the game. But bam,
absolutely perfect 2525 we are
going to overtime in Germany. You try to explain to some of
the new fans what this means,
what it doesn’t mean many of the American fans still still
don’t understand overtime. But
here’s what you have to stand here. Second and nine Daniel
Jones big time stakes here. Got
it. Pierce. Oh what a catch. Fantastic catch Warren. Oh he’s
a great looking tight end. He
really is. Second and four Jonathan Taylor touchdown. He
does that thing where he goes
hop hop hop hop. And there’s blue Blue’s a freak. We know
that always. And panics just
standing there watching as Taylor gets crowned a 200 plus
yard day. Big run small runs
late runs to seal it Daniel Jones absolutely feeling it as
well. The Colts eight and two a
big time bounce back. Remember they got thumped pretty badly
by Pittsburgh last week 3125 in
overtime. Let’s go to a legend a legend right now standing
next to Jonathan Taylor. Go
ahead. You are the all time leader in touchdowns in
Indianapolis franchise history
surpassing Edgerrin James. You got 66 touchdowns. And a big
kiss right there from Chris
Ballard. What is that accolade mean to you to surpass Edgerrin
James I mean not only Edgerrin.
You think about the guys who we had in this organization
beforehand and they’re legends.
But the stories around the building are that they came in
to work every day, put their
hard hat on, and to now be named amongst those guys is
something very special. And I’m
holding it near to my heart. You’re still out of breath. Is
this fatigue or is this emotion?
Well, I mean, we, you know, literally from the the run to
the celebration to here. So you
just got to soak it all in. This is a beautiful venue.
Berlin is amazing. So I’m glad
for this to be the first one that it was us to go and make
it and put on the show. Stacey
Dales great questions. Jonathan Taylor all time great guy. Look
at the Colts. Look at that big
old blue horseshoe right now. The number one overall seed on
the AFC side of things. But you
can’t not look at that Patriots logo. You can’t not look at
that lurking column. However
let’s stay on the left side of that screen. Fourth time in
international game went into
overtime and it delivered. The Colts ended up the happy team
home. Manti your takeaway as
you are most fired up from that postgame interview with JT. I
mean, how can you not love JT?
How can you not love the way he runs, what he stands for, his
leadership, his humility. Last
week guys, after they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there
was a lot of talks about like
what’s with the Colts and all of that. A game where they had
six turnovers and Daniel Jones
was sacked five times. And I said on this show the day after
that, it’s not going to happen
again. Why? Because Shane Steichen, for some reason, last
week decided that he wanted to
pass the ball a lot in a game where Jonathan Taylor is the
leader in a whole bunch of
rushing categories, he only got the ball 14 times. Well,
yesterday, guys, he got the
ball 32 times, a total of 35. He touched the ball 35 times,
had 32 carries, went 244 and
three studies. So if you want to know I know Daniel Jones and
I’m a big fan of Daniel Jones,
and I’m so happy that he’s having a resurgence in his
career with the Indianapolis
Colts after his time with the Giants. But if you want to know
who’s the backbone of this team,
if you want to know who and what this team runs through it,
look no further than number 28.
And I think this is what Shane Steichen is going to continue
to do. I think last week was a
reminder, hey, coach, don’t get pretty, don’t get cute. Give
the ball to 28 any way you can
and let him do his thing. Because if you do, let him do
his thing, regardless if it’s
at home on the road, international 28 is going to
put on a show and he’s most
likely always going to get you a win. So that’s what was my
biggest takeaway. Do you know
who allows for 28 to have his days? Mantei the big fellas.
The big fellas don’t get enough
love. So I’m here to give some love to the offensive line of
the Indianapolis Colts. I know
oftentimes they get their love through their running backs.
Right. So we talk about JT how
he’s an MVP conversation. He just ran for 244 yards. But I
want to go down the stat line
that it’s all on the big fella. Shoulders up front yards per
carry 5.3 yards. That’s first
in the league. Touchdowns this year on the ground 22. That’s
first in the league. Plus 20
yard rushes nine of them. That’s second in the league.
Rushing first downs. That’s
that’s their first in the league with that rushing first
down percentage. Manti they’re
also first in the league. That means that you get on third
down. Just turn around and hand
it off to somebody and they get you the first down and in
rushing yards. Yeah they’re
first in the league with that as well. And then in terms of
passing, if you just want to
talk about the passing, they’re only giving up 15% of the
dropbacks for sacks. So they’re
not only getting rushing lanes for that man on your screen,
but Daniel Jones is having a
heck of a year because of what these guys are allowing. Kudos
to those five guys up front and
the tight ends that are partaking in the blocking game
and the receivers. But special
shout out to the Indianapolis Colts O-line. You guys deserve
a lot of love as well. They do.
And you know a lot of the Colts wins this year. Their offense
has been so good. They just
blow teams away, especially early on. This was not that I
said it in the highlight.
Atlanta was totally game. They were ready. They were equipped.
I know they didn’t do a good
job against Taylor, but they were in the game late. Daniel
Jones had to make plays late to
get them to overtime. They had to make a big kick. They had to
have other guys chip in. It was
Taylor being the superstar. But the Colts had a battle in this
game, which I like about
Jonathan Taylor. Guys, a little bit of an announcement here.
I’m going to just a little bit
of a show announcement. I’m very, very excited to tell you
this, Jim. You’re not going to
believe this. This year, for the first time ever, I have an
MVP vote. I got it, I have it,
I have an MVP vote for the AP. I do I’m breaking news here. I
get an MVP vote. I get to vote
for MVP. I get to vote for All-Pro. I am part of the crew.
It’s officially happening. So
your boy congratulations MVP vote I’m excited because I’m
going to talk it through with
you guys. And it could become part of the show. Here’s the
deal though. I’m doing this
like my own way. I am going to make it something very
opinionated, very passionate.
Whoever I’m about, I am not just going to pick whatever the
quarterback is the best
quarterback, the most yards, whatever, whatever, whatever.
I’m really going to be a purist
on this. I was around for Adrian Peterson’s MVP. I
remember Barry Sanders MVP, and
right now I’m not supposed to say who I’m voting for or
anything like that, but
Jonathan Taylor has my attention. Here’s why. Matthew
Stafford is doing incredible,
incredible things and we’re going to get to him later. John.
The Colts are eight and two. If
they don’t have Jonathan Taylor, I think they’re a four and six
team right now. Like I love
Jones. I think they’re four and six without him. I think the
win over replacement, whoever
would be behind him is just a huge factor. Right now. I’m
looking at Jonathan Taylor and
I also don’t like that there’s this thing we do now where well,
the best running back gets
offensive player of the year. That’s just their award. That’s
stupid. I hate that it’s just
deciding that’s going to be a quarterback every year. I don’t
like it at all. I’m looking at
Jonathan Taylor and we will continue to talk about this
moving forward. But as an MVP
voter and I feel like Wayne and Garth, my backstage pass, I’m
so excited. Jonathan Taylor has
my attention. Are you Kyle. You know you know I love you. You
know how annoying it is that
you held that information to yourself until we were actually
on the show. To the people that
watch us every day. Kyle straight up did not share this
with the class beforehand. That
was an authentic reaction. But Kyle, I don’t understand MVP or
MVP voters can sometimes be
pretentious. They play it close to the vest. You know they like
to be snobbish about their
decision. Are you saying this is going to be all inclusive
and you’re actually going to
talk it through and you are going to use, dare I say, logic?
After watching an entire season
of football? I think this will probably this is my first year
as an MVP voter. I think it
will probably be my last year too, because I’m probably I’m
probably going to get kicked
out of the club. You’re not supposed to be talking about it
like that. You’re not supposed.
You’re not supposed to do this. I’m going to get kicked out,
guys. But you know what? For
one year we can talk it through and it’ll be fine. It’s going
to be fun. Oh, man, I can’t
wait. It was short, but it was sweet. And at least we’ll have
it on his byline. 2025 Kyle
Brandt an MVP voter Jags, Texans. What else happened in
the AFC South Kyle oh yeah. You
guys got to thing at the bottom of the screen. I’m a very
important MVP voter now. All
right. The Jaguars were way up on the and they’re just leaning
on them. And we’re doing
Etienne. And the Texans are just like man you got blown out
at home. This is a terrible
look for you. Not so fast my friends. Lee Corso I love you.
Fourth quarter 29 to 10. I
guess we’ll just play it out because we got Davis Mills in.
Remember? Stroud’s not even.
All right. Mills with a laser to Nico Collins that pads the
stats a little bit. Good for
you. Make a little more respectable in the box score.
Hold on. Two point conversion.
They’re terrible at them. Worst in the NFL. They’re trying to,
you know, try to get if they
get a couple more scores. All right hold on a second. They
they got it. All right. So we
got something working here Mills Mafia stand up. Look at
that throw. Look at the catch.
That’s beautiful. Toe tap Nico. Just excellent. Excellent stuff.
Next Jags possession. Just run
the ball a few times and you’ll win. Hold on Trevor Lawrence
sacked Danielle Hunter. Hunter
had three and a half sacks in this game. He’s done that
before. That ties a career high
for him. Next Texans possession. Are you really going to get
crazy Davis Mills Davis Mills
don’t do it. Oh Davis yes Dalton Schultz touchdown.
Schultz had seven catches in
this one. We got a five point game Texans get the ball back
again. They go up top. He did
it. Oh hold on a second. It’s incomplete. But pass
interference I don’t know.
Three plays later following a pair of false starts on the
14th play of the drive. Third
and goal from the 14 Davis Mills. Oh my god he’s Joe
Montana. Touchdown 14 yards.
The Texans are winning. They’re winning the game. There’s seven
seconds left Lawrence what did
you do. How did you possibly blow this sack by Will Anderson
strip Sheldon Rankins touchdown
mass hysteria in Houston Texas Davis Mills have a day. Oh my
God. Cohen throws the play
sheet and the headset. But this is all about Houston. An all
time coming, season saving
comeback. Possibly. They still got all kinds of work to do
because they’re sub500. But oh
my God, did they jag this thing up? 3629 Texans. We’ll talk
more about it afterwards. So
much more fun on Gmfb. We’re calling it Gmvp because I’m a
voter now. Guys, get in there,
ask me about it. Who wants to touch me? That’s coming up Gmfb.
After this, ladies and
gentlemen, our departure has Stream Thursday Night Football
Jets Patriots coverage begins
at 7 p.m. eastern only on Prime. Amongst the games. Yesterday,
the league announced sad news
as former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue has died at the age
of 84. As Roger Goodell’s
predecessor, Tagliabue led the league for 17 years until his
retirement in September of 2006.
Here’s a look back at his remarkable career. Before
ascending to the role of NFL
commissioner. The six foot five inch Paul Tagliabue towered
over opponents as captain of
the Georgetown basketball team. After obtaining a law degree,
Tagliabue served as the
league’s lawyer, spending countless hours with his mentor
Pete Rozelle, learning the
mantra that would serve as the cornerstone of his term as
commissioner. It was never
about I, it was always about the league. I think that
probably was the most important
lesson that I learned, and I think I learned it early on.
After taking over for Rozelle
in 1989, Tagliabue’s first order of business was to repair
the NFL’s fractured
relationship with the players union. In professional sports,
you have to have a healthy,
respectful, positive relationship with the players
association. Despite harmony
with the players, the NFL’s unprecedented era of labor
peace would not have been
possible without Tagliabue first creating unity among the
owners. His ability to create
consensus. It’s one of the most remarkable things I’ve ever
seen. I would say his greatest
asset might be getting those 32 guys to agree on a time of day.
Under Tagliabue’s stewardship,
the NFL signed some of the richest contracts in television
history, launched its own 24
hour television network, and expanded from 28 to 32 teams.
Tagliabue was also at the
forefront of the league’s efforts of globalization. We’re
looking with a lot of
anticipation at the internationalization of the
sport. Paul Tagliabue just
continued to find level after level after level of growth. He
has always understood what it
took for this league to take the next step. The NFL may have
gone global during Tagliabue’s
tenure, but he never forgot about the communities that
helped grow the league to new
heights. Involvement of the teams in the community and
creating that tremendous bond
that NFL teams have with their community. We need to have that
kind of deep respect in the
community, for our sport and for the people in our sport.
During his 17 years as
commissioner, Paul Tagliabue leadership was on display in
times of tragedy. Today, we are
honoring those who lost their lives in the last ten days and
also times of triumph. The
legacy that Paul Tagliabue leaves behind is one that will
shape the sport for generations
to come. I’ve always felt that if we can be smart and wise
stewards and keep the focus on
the game and great players and coaches, that the sky is the
limit. I think the future is
bright. And with that, current NFL commissioner Roger Goodell
put out a statement yesterday
on behalf of all of us in remarks of the passing of Paul
Tagliabue, that all of us in
the league are deeply saddened by the passing of our former
commissioner, whose principled
leadership and vision put the NFL on the path to unparalleled
success. Paul was the ultimate
steward of the game. Tall and stature, humble in presence and
decisive in his loyalty to the
NFL. I, Roger Goodell, am forever grateful and proud to
have Paul as my friend and my
mentor. We extend as a show our heartfelt condolences to the
entire Tagliabue family,
including his wife of 60 years and their children, Drew and
Emily. Paul Tagliabue passes
away in 2025 at the age of 84. I used to think all money

Sometimes these guys are so grateful that we can’t rewind
it into the commercial break,
because the dancing that was just happening was
uncomfortable, and I don’t
think anybody should have to see it. Mantei your first on
rewind that. Go ahead bud. Well
you’re going to want to see this guys okay. So I don’t know
if you guys watched that
Jacksonville Jaguars Texans game. But watch Derek Stingley
on this thing. Watch this one
handed yeah stickies stickies like please rewind that please
rewind that I want you to also
watch how he he goes right behind the receiver. Perfect
technique. Doesn’t get rubbed
but then snags the ball one handed right before halftime to
send it into half for the
Houston Texans. Do not throw the ball where 24 is at for the
Houston Texans, because usually
that’s what happens. Beautiful. Rewind that all the time Isaiah
I’ll see you there. You know I
like that. Rewind that. But it wasn’t better than this one
right here. This is dude in San
Francisco by the name of George Kittle. He’s a crazy man. He
loves WWE. He loves all the
things. But on this particular play he’s going to catch a nice
little route, right? Just catch
a nice little route on the sideline. Take it out of bounds.
No no he went straight space
Jam on us right here. Let’s see it one more time. Goes out runs
a nice little out route. He’s
going to go out of bounds. He says twinkle toes. And then I’m
going to go Space Jam. Get the
end zone I don’t know how he was able to stop his momentum.
Look at this. Puts the brakes
on. Make sure you get a nice pic of the shoes and then look
at there. Oh that’s perfection.
Absolute perfection. You can hear the orchestral music
behind actually both of your
plays on Rewind That so far. And I feel like mine could be
given that treatment as well.
This I was considering for game ball just because the emotion
behind it, but instead I go
rewind that on a Chris Olave catch. In fact, his only
touchdown catch from Sunday, a
62 yarder, which is, by the way, the longest of his career.
Never mind. This is a spinning
one handed grab. This is not the touchdown catch. This is a
in the middle of the field. He
had five of those good for 103 yards. This was really a big
day for him to return to
Carolina last year. His season ended on a concussion. His
father Raul Olave, was in the
stands. Actually had a one on one conversation with Chris
before the game. Got his mind
right and clearly got his fingertips right on the
sideline. Pretty cool win for
the Saints on the road in the division Kyle Mine is a
highlight. It’s also a
microcosm of what happened at the end of bears giants. The
Giants have a very talented
D-line. You know all about it. But the bears O-line said no,
no no no no, not today. Roll it.
Let’s go. Darnell right on the bottom of the screen. Bam! Sit
down and I’m just gonna hold
you down. Don’t even think about getting up or I’ll push
you down again. Darnell Wright
is probably the best player on the bears, I think, right now.
And they have a lot of really
talented players. I like how he just says, sit down, sit down,
sit down. He’s really having an
amazing season. They took him 10th overall a few years ago. I
think it should be all pro this
year. If only we knew someone who voted for that type of
shout out. Shout out to Darnell
Wright on that one, because how many times have we seen a
lineman jump right on top of
him after that? I think that was a mutual respect. All right,
Brian, get up, get up. I don’t
want to pounce on you and just body slamming you like in WWE.
Shout out to him man that was
cool. Darn. Darnell Wright’s unwavering stance is how Kyle
Brandt will be in the face of
people coming for his All-Pro MVP vote. He’s gonna be like,
no, you can say things. You can
say that. You can write this, you can write that. But Kyle
Branch is going to be like,
this is my vote, and this is how I feel about it. Oh, we’re
going to change the game, Jamie,
and we’re going to we’re going to turn this thing upside down.
We’re going to make this right.
This is going to be the people’s MVP, an All-Pro. I’m
telling you, it’s a little
alarming. It’s a little alarming. Kyle, do you want to
disclose it all in the final
30s of this hour? How did when did you find this out? How did
one come across this? How did
you qualify last week? Last week? Listen, I sit here every
day talking ball. I’ve done
this for a decade. I know my stuff, Jamie. I’m almost a
little triggered by how
surprised you are that I should be given this honor. But I have
it, and I will do it justice, I
promise. There have been people on the show here who have
thrown their pens in relation
to MVP votes in the past, so I just thought we didn’t qualify
for them. It’s not you, it’s
the system. We have the shield on the street in the Disney
building. When you join SoFi,
plus you can get $1,000 plus in in charge, I can’t know if
that’s. Yeah. Bears. All right.
Bears. Just just just talk about the bears. All right?
Jaxson Dart played well this
season. Early on the Giants were having a day. They’re up
17 to 7. And this play changes
the entire game Jaxson Dart is going to fumble. He’s also
going to go down and stay down.
He would not return to the game after this evaluated for a
concussion. He walks off. That
means we get Russell Wilson. If it was 2015 that’d be good. But
fourth quarter Caleb Williams
trying to be hero. The down ten under six to play. There’s no
way the Giants are going to
blow another one right Caleb did this all day evading sacks
left and right. The laser
amazing catch by Loveland. Amazing. Remember he was the
hero last year or last week
against Cincinnati. Look at this hands catch. He catches
the back half of the football.
Those giant mitts and brings it in. And a huge moment of the
game Caleb was fantastic in the
fourth quarter especially. He had a lot of drops yesterday
from the bears, but fought
through it and did a lot of this longest run of his career.
Caleb I thought he was going to
score, but he stumbles. It’s all right. They work a little
bit of clock. This game was
electric in the fourth quarter. Unless you’re a Giants fan.
Beautiful play design. You get
Roman Doomsday wide open touchdown. But they’re still
down. They were down ten points.
Could have been down more. But Dave will play a little
conservatively at the goal line
Russell Wilson just bleed the clock a little Russell do you
know who that is guys. That’s
C.J. Gardner-johnson who did that twice yesterday. He was
all over the field. The new
acquisition they got because Dennis Allen’s a D coordinator.
Bootleg. Look at Caleb. He’s
out the gates and he’s scores standing up. The bears take the
lead. Another fourth quarter
blown lead James and Russell Wilson getting together Russell
has a chance for a real magical
moment. And it’s just definitely wasn’t happening. It
wasn’t even close. Fourth and
ten the ball goes down. The Giants go down Daboll goes down
Caleb. Huge huge effort in the
fourth quarter. These bears do not quit 24 to 26 and three.
And if you don’t think we have
the Ben Johnson postgame locker room sound, you are not paying
attention my friends. He goes
from a serial killer on the sideline to Sam Kinison in the
locker room. Take it away. Oh
hell yeah. Man. I tell you what, I feel like I’m on repeat each
and every week right now. I
mean, I got nothing new to say to you guys. Did you even waver
for a second? You knew exactly.
We had him right where we wanted him. Oh, no. You’ve run
out of material already, and
it’s week ten, coach. Don’t do it to us. Oh, no, he didn’t
plan for this. No, no, that
just means he coached him up. And they followed the game plan
because the bears showed
resiliency. They came back from a ten point deficit in the
fourth quarter. Caleb Williams
had his fourth game winning drive of the season. I say I’m
so glad you think I’m so funny.
Manti, what do you make of the bears, and do you officially
qualify them as an NFC North
contender? I mean, how can you not qualify them as that for
for their ability for multiple
weeks to come back late in the fourth quarter? Their social
resilience? Caleb Williams I
thought the last two drives that they had showed just some
guts, man. Like that’s that’s
what I that’s all I can say when when I watch him play
those last two quarters, last
two drives. But let’s be honest, I think this was the second
time and Katie alluded, it
alluded to it in the in the highlight that the Giants lost
this game like we saw it when
they played the Broncos. That collapsed in the fourth. But
they’re just some situational
awareness. And calls that were were very questionable to me. I
think it started off in the in
the in the first drive, it’s fourth and two in those
conditions. And then you run a
rollout pass at midfield. Like that was first drive of the
game. And he goes for it on
fourth and two I’m like okay all right, whatever. Then in
the in the beginning of the
fourth quarter they they go for this field goal right. They get
a penalty. They could have
moved it to the half yard line. But Brian Daboll says now we’ll
just decline it and we’ll take
the field goal to go up ten. That to me from a player’s
perspective. And Isaiah you
know this like we’re in enemy territory. We have the
opportunity to go up 14. Why
don’t you trust us in that situation to do it. Why don’t
you trust us in that situation?
To put the nail in the coffin when we’ve been up this entire
game. Let’s do that. And then
this play like we saw it. We saw it in the Bronco game last
week. A punter shanked a ball.
I don’t what’s what’s with these punters. Shanking balls
on punts. You got one job. Get
the ball down the field. Flip the flip the field. Yet they
shanked the ball Caleb does
what Caleb does and scores that touchdown. So I just thought
watching this game that the New
York Giants there were some situational awareness that for
the second time this year they
show showed a lack of. And so that’s what was the biggest
concerning thing for me about
the Giants. Yeah, you’re talking about the Giants. I’m
talking about the bears. You
guys ever went to like a street fair and like, had like, food
from some of the vendors and
like, you eat something, it’s like you go to the one spot and
you eat it and you’re just like,
I don’t know if my stomach hurts or not or if that’s just
in my head, right? Yeah, that
didn’t taste quite right. I’m not sure if that was cooked all
the way through. So the rest of
the day you’re kind of just uneasy and unsure. That’s where
I am with the bears right now.
I’m uneasy and I’m unsure. I don’t really know what they are.
I know that they’re super
talented. I know that they have a really good coach, but their
ball just hasn’t been
consistent. Now shout out to them in their win streak.
They’re taking care of business,
but they, in my opinion, haven’t faced the real team. So
for that for that reason alone
I’m going to temper my expectations. I think that this
team can hit on all cylinders
once they get going. I think they have a quarterback who’s
talented, who just really
hasn’t found his stride yet. I think Rome Odunze is absolutely
hitting his stride right now.
He’s figured it out. The defense is continuing to play
well, but their upcoming
schedule, they have to play the Vikings, the Steelers, the
Eagles and the Packers. If you
have any questions as to who the bears are, you may not know
right now. You might have the
bubble guts like I do right now, but in the next four weeks,
you’re going to have a really
good idea as to who they are, no doubt. Listen, we’re going
to talk a lot of bears over the
next month. I don’t know if it’s going to be good or bad,
but the big boy schedule is
coming. Eight games left, seven of them against teams that
matter really, really big games.
The story of this game for the bears was drops. No team in the
NFL has had as many drops in a
game this year as the bears had yesterday, and Caleb is just
lasers all over the field. And
it was drop, drop, drop in big moments where the receivers
couldn’t pick him up. He stayed
in his shoes, he was composed and he orchestrated that fourth
quarter. Caleb Williams was
fantastic at the end of this game. We have loved Drake Maye.
We love a lot of his peers.
Caleb was brilliant. Now here’s the thing with the bears right
now, you can’t say anything
positive about them. Be it here, be it on social media, be it on
your text chain, without every
single response being like, who cares what was against the
Giants? They suck. Last week it
was against the Bengals. They suck. And I kind of get it. I
totally understand the schedule
is coming and we’ll find out. There are weird, weird, weird
team. But for right now I see a
six and a three under a bears logo, and I have not seen that
for a long time. I do have one
little public service I need to perform here. I follow a lot of
bears accounts. I get a lot of
bears tweets aggregated and pulled together to to cross my
timeline. So a lot of you bears
fans and you bears enthusiasts have got to chill a little bit
on the Twitter because these
are real tweets from yesterday that happened in the middle of
the game, a game which they won.
Oh no embarrassing loss. Ben Johnson, Dennis Allen, Ryan
poles all to blame. Start your
mock drafts, Kevin. They won the game. They they’re six and
three. All right Vicki baby
this falls on Ben Johnson. Horrible play calling. Didn’t
have his team ready to play off.
Hopes that playoff hopes that Vicki I love you. And I’ll get
you in a second. Vicki you’re
my guy. You’re better than that. Next. They’re all over here.
They’re all over. Give me more
Nostradamus. I can’t read this book, but solely on Ben Johnson.
On and on and on and return,
blah blah blah. Too long. Next one. These are all tweets that
happened in a game the bears
won. And then my guy Dave Bears about to end Giants their first
road win in over a year. First
of all I love Dave I love Vicki. They do the bears film room pod.
They’re true passionate bears
fans. So you guys in the past I would have tweeted the same
thing. This team is different
Vicki. This team is different. Dave, you got to wait until 000
before you bang out your tweet
about Ben Johnson suck today. Ben Johnson did not have his
best day. See what’s below the
screen right now. It says 24 to 20 and it says six and three
different different DNA,
different composure, different everything between the ears.
Different different different.
Get used to it. I know it’s hard. You got a lot of scar
tissue. Save the tweets until
they’re actually needed and it won’t be for a while. You got
it. Bears win like they do
every single week. It’s ugly. They’re heavily flawed, but
they’re six and three. Winning
and closing out games is a practiced skill. Just ask Lamar
Jackson and the Baltimore
Ravens. They’ve done it a ton, which is why all of a sudden we
are concerned about the Ravens
come runnin. They played the Vikings yesterday. A Vikings
team in which the bears are
going to have to play next week. Until then, let’s see how Lamar
Jackson, who normally eats up
young quarterbacks and spits them out. He’s great against
them, which J.J. McCarthy is.
Third and one people. Third and one sure long shot down the
field and it was a pitch and
catch to intercepted Marlon Humphrey. Marlon Humphrey runs
it back. Why exactly guy that
guy is from Burnsville okay. And he’s and he’s wondering why.
Why would you run that. Why
would you launch that? Lamar Jackson is like let me show you
what’s up. Ravens are up 1210.
Justice Hill punches this thing in for a one yard TD. Ravens
take a 19 to 10 lead on that
play. This game being played in Minnesota. Ravens looking
comfortable though. Fourth
quarter. Now Ravens have a 1913 win Lamar Jackson drops back,
finds one of his favorites, his
good old buddy Mark Andrews in the back of the end zone. Drops
the feet down two yard TD.
Ravens would convert perfect coach on the two point
conversion late in the fourth
quarter. Vikings still hanging around, especially if JJ
McCarthy, who was doing his
best to stay alive, which he does on this play, finds Jalen
Nailor, who brings this thing
all the way down. That’s a 28 yard gain. So when the going’s
get when the goods get going,
keep going back to the good which is Jalen Nailor again
back of the end zone. That’s
not Justin Jefferson. Jalen Nailor ten yard score Vikings
try to a two point conversion.
They would fail on it. Great catch. But they cut the lead to
2719. Which you’re saying
there’s still a chance with 21 seconds to play. This would
have to be an eight point play.
McCarthy runs around. Clock’s ticking down. They would have
had time. It would have been a
crazy play had this thing worked. But it did. Not a
Checkdown ish to Aaron Jones
can’t keep the ball alive. Not that he would have been able to
hail the rain. This one in
Ravens hold on to win this one 2719 which is look out now
three straight for the Lamar
Jackson led Baltimore Ravens. They started one and five this
season. However Kyle Hamilton
you had a young quarterback to eat up and spit out. Does the
defense feel a little relief
after this performance in Minnesota? I think that’s just
who we are to the core. You
know, we could be undefeated and still feel like we have
stuff to do. But, you know, I
think what got us not trying to bring up the past, I think
partially, partially. What got
us to 1 in 5 was the fact that we came into the season maybe
thinking, I’m not speaking for
everybody, but we’re the Baltimore Ravens. We’re going
to do this, we’re going to do
that. Teams are just going to lay down and let us win games.
And that’s not how it is in
this league. So we got punched in the mouth early in the
season. But now I think we’re
responding well. And you know we’ll just have that scar
tissue going forward when we
just start stacking wins. All right. So there is never a more
defined team I think, than
right now in the Baltimore Ravens in the lurking column
Texans really crazy win
yesterday. The Chiefs they’re always there. But the Ravens 1
in 5 now have a four in front
of the five. All right. When you look at this game Ravens
have to go to Minnesota. Get
right Mantai. What do you make of them. Well this is what I
make of him guys. You mentioned
a lot of Jalen Nailor in your highlight game. And the
question is where’s Justin
Jefferson with Justin Jefferson was targeted 12 times. He had
37 yards. And that goes to the
defensive dominance that the Ravens had. You know beginning
beginning with Zach or the
defensive coordinator. They had two turnovers. Could have been
three I mean Roquan had an
amazing catch where I thought he had it. They did a whole
little conditioning thing as if
he got it. And then incomplete pass. They had three fourth
down stops. The Vikings were
three for 14 on on third down. That is just insane. So again
guys we talked about this
earlier in the year after they’re one and five. Whatever
that record was. Are we are we
panicking. And I said that I was going to double down that
the Baltimore Ravens were going
to win the AFC North. Why? Number one, when Lamar Jackson
comes back it’s different. But
what is also different is that defense starts to take shape
the second half of the season.
For some reason it started last year that defense Zach or they
start off slow and then they
start to get get some tread going. So I had to give the
credit to the Baltimore Ravens
defense. Oh the Ravens I remember about a month ago on
this show we were talking about
are the Ravens out of it? They’re going to be all the way
at the bottom of the division.
You know Lamar Jackson’s out. And I said, just wait. Just
wait. Lamar Jackson is back.
And what have they done? Three straight wins. What do they
have coming up. Well they got
they got some W’s. As far as the way I got listed out here
on the schedule with the Browns,
Jets, Bengals, Steelers and Bengals coming up. So that
looks like five wins before
they face the Patriots. It looks like they’re going to be
probably about nine and five.
These guys have not hit their stride. These guys have not
been playing good ball. But yet
with Lamar Jackson these guys are starting to figure it out.
And we know one thing about the
playoffs. It’s all about what teams are playing the best when
you approach the playoffs. So
for a team that was at the bottom of the division with the
1 to 5 start and now they’re
creeping their way back into it. Once they hit their stride,
it’s like a sprinter hitting
that 60 meter point. I’m up and I’m running and now you can’t
catch me. You’re not going to
catch the Ravens because these guys are going to be hitting
real soon. Well, you guys know
there’s nothing I like better than a come running team. It’s
the team in December that’s
clearly one of the best teams in the league, if not the best,
but doesn’t have a great record
for years. I feel like the Philip Rivers Chargers were the
come running team. I feel like
the Joe Burrow Bengals and some of these years fit the profile.
But to have the two time MVP be
the come running team is really, really exciting. I would only
say the football gods work in a
strange way. You don’t see a lot of 1 in 5 teams make the
playoffs. Stuff happens even if
you do get right. Like Isaiah saying, even if you do have a
three game winning streak, you
don’t know what’s coming down. You have to be so perfect. The
injuries, the scheduling, all
that type of stuff. I would love to see the Baltimore
Ravens come tearing down the
stretch. I would. I don’t think we can just conclude all of a
sudden like by the way, like
their defense was awful. And then just we snap our fingers
and now it’s good again. Will
they regress? Was that a mirage? I don’t know, I just know that
you have to be after starting
one and five. Not just good, you have to be almost perfect
because things happen down the
stretch. Are they going to be a playoff team? I don’t know,
they’re the come running team
officially, but they still need a lot of help and a lot of
things to go right. All right.
We will see how that fares for the Ravens in terms of righting
the ship. And until then Ian
Rapoport get us back on track ahead of the NFL’s final
international game which will
be the commanders in Dolphins. Sounds like you have some news
from the NFL as it relates to
the Washington Commanders. What’s going on Da’ron Payne
the standout defensive lineman
for the Washington Commanders as of right now, not going to
participate in that game. He
has been suspended by the NFL for punching Amon-ra Saint
Brown. If you watch the game
last night, you can see it clearly in the background.
There it is, upper right. You
can see the punch right there to the head and neck area of an
opponent. This is now made
official by the NFL. Payne can appeal. Players almost always
appeal, but absent some sort of
appeal win, he is not going to participate in the game.
Overseas is eligible to return
right after that. That situation will sort itself out
over the next couple of days.
We’ll have a firm and final decision after his appeal.
Meanwhile, some injury news for
tonight’s game. We’ll start with the good news for the
Philadelphia Eagles. Saquon
Barkley coming off the bye. Saquon Barkley been dealing
with a groin injury. He was a
full participant in practice this week off the injury report.
Good to go. No issues there AJ
Brown. Similar situation. Has been dealing with a hamstring
into the bye. You thought maybe
he would use the body. Heal up exactly what happened. Full
participant in practice. Both
those guys are good to go. Meanwhile for the green Bay
Packers, Matthew Golden is
actually going the wrong way participation wise was limited,
then at the end of the week was
a non participant in practice. Generally that does not bode
well for a player, but we will
see he’s listed as questionable. If he is able to go for the
Packers tonight. All right
Rapsheet thanks so much. Moving on. We got a look at the NFC
West Kyle likes to make a
baseball jokes when it’s like 3 to 2 this that well it’s like
an NBA score. If you’re looking
at the NFC West yesterday it was like 80 something to 20
something. Everybody was
schooling everybody on offense. Rams Seahawks Niners I’m
looking at you. We got to talk
Stafford and Darnold and much more Kyle. Yeah the SuperSonics
were really tuning up the Suns.
Plus week ten game balls are coming. Big names big
performances. Is it possible
that a family member of an NFL player will get a game ball
today? You will have to tune in
to find out. Don’t go anywhere you already tuned in. What am I
talking about? Just stay tuned
in. Good Morning Football is presented by old Trapper beef
jerky. What’s your beef? Cole’s
mom. Janice. I tried building happy. Call granger.com, or
just stop by Granger for the
ones who get it done. Sam Darnold screaming in his soft
mannered way. Maybe consider me
for an MVP vote. I don’t know if only somebody on the show
had that first quarter rollout.
Sam Darnold lofts this thing 43 yard touchdown to Jackson Smith.
And the Seahawks take a
touchdown lead. Seahawks are two and two at home coming into
this season four and zero on
the road. They’re in Lumen Field Jacoby Brissett. You must
create quarterback controversy.
Wow that wasn’t controversial at all Tyree’s knife forces the
fumble DeMarcus Lawrence picks
this thing up for a 34 yard touchdown. Now Mike McDonald
being the prolific defensive
coach that he is has to love this by their effort. Because
not long after Seahawks up 21.
Nothing guys is the same exact play. You’re not having deja vu.
It’s a fully flip flop field.
That’s first quarter. Second quarter. That is Tyrese Knight
again. That is DeMarcus
Lawrence again. That is Jacoby Brissett going gosh darn tootin.
How am I supposed to fix that
4422 the final Seahawks really good Kyle. All right two very
good teams one really good team
one great team. And it’s the Rams. The Niners were gaming
this one this. The Rams are too
good. They have too much firepower. This is puka puka
puka thing. Touchdown 22 yards.
He finished with five for 64 and a touchdown. And that’s
just the tip of the iceberg.
They got the Monte Adams too. Look at this catch. Bam. Got it.
Touchdown McVay is just fish in
a barrel right now with Stafford. It is a perfect storm
of offense. Kyren Williams look
the Niners got 20 points there there. And then the Rams
offense just leans on you 42
points on the road on Rams seven and two. So let’s have a
look. Here we go guys NFC
playoff picture right now. Your Seattle Seahawks the one Eagles.
Packers go tonight. You’re two
and three. Huge game Tampa lost the lurking column. Maybe not
as sexy as the AFC lurking. But
then look at the bears. They were lurking a week ago. Now
they’re in the seventh playoff
spot with a lot of divisional games coming for them against
Detroit, against green Bay,
against Minnesota TBD right now, but as it’s incredible as good
as the Rams look Jamie they’re
only the five. But we got about anywhere 7 or 8 games left to
play. Yeah we do Seahawks. Rams
look at that. They’re both seven and two. And they both
handed NFC West opponents
yesterday an absolute blowout. So I ask you this man I answer
it with your chest. Answer it
truthfully and honestly. The more impressive team right now
to your eyes is it the Seahawks
or is it the Rams. Well I got to go the Seahawks. And the
reason why I got to go Seahawks
is I expected the Rams to be good. I mean I had them
predicted to play in the Super
Bowl. So there was an expectation from my point of
view that they were always
going to be good. I did not expect to Seahawks. So that’s
why I’m extremely impressed
with how the Seahawks have performed so far. You’re
talking about a team that has a
new OC, had a new quarterback, then they get rid of DK Metcalf
and you’re like, what’s going
to happen to this offense. Well they go out there and they ball
out every single weekend. That
defense continues to put out points. There was a point
yesterday in the game where it
was 35 to 0. Like that’s how dominant this team is. So if I
had to answer your question
Jame I’ve always been high on the Rams. It’s the Seahawks to
me that have been extremely
impressive in my eyes. Yes. And it should be the Seahawks. Not
only because I’m from Seattle
Manti, but because these guys are absolutely balling out.
This defense of Mike McDonald
is absolutely insane. They invested in the defensive line
over the previous years and it
is starting to pay off. You got the big fellas up front Leonard
Williams Byron Murphy DeMarcus
Lawrence. They went ahead and traded a guy Ernest Jones.
These guys are a problem. You
see it on your screen right now. They’re forcing turnovers. They
have five sacks and two
takeaways yesterday both returned for touchdowns. These
guys are fifth ranked scoring
defense in the league. These guys are tied for second in the
league. They add pressure. They
stop you from running and they get after your quarterback. And
we’re not even going to talk
about the offense but the defense balling out. I love the
Seahawks. I have to say the
Rams Matthew Stafford is unconscious. Unconscious.
Throwing the football right now.
He has not thrown an interception in six straight
games six straight games four
touchdowns this week four touchdowns last week five
touchdowns the week before. It
is a full symphony he is conducting with Sean McVay in
his ear. He can’t miss.
Everything goes in. It’s like it’s like he’s mastered the
position. I remember years and
years ago Eddie Van Halen, the legendary late guitarist, was
asked like, have you mastered
the guitar? Is there anything else you can do with those six
strings? And he said, you’re
never master it. You’re always learning new things. You’re
always evolving. I feel that
way with Stafford. He’s doing now, like as he’s getting into
his mid late 30s, that area
like remember when Rodgers went through a second prime a few
years ago and he was winning
MVP’s with like long hair and a totally different deal than he
had ten years prior? Matthew
Stafford right now is like in his third prime of his career.
He is I just this the only
thing I can say is he is a three point shooter who’s just
shooting and then just jogging
back down the court because not only does he know it’s going to
go in, it’s not even going to
hit the rim. It’s not even going to move the net. It just
falls down. Rams Seahawks still
play two more times. They play next week in the late window.
And they will do this again I
think personally I think it is the best two teams in the NFL
right now. Rams Seahawks and I
probably have the Patriots as the third. We’ll see the Eagles
tonight. Rams Seahawks two best
teams. Same division. Widely different quarterbacks but
still play two more times. So
buckle up sports fans. Did you the MVP voter representative of
the show, just do an impromptu
informal power rank and put the Cardinal or the Seahawks and
the Rams at the top two and the
Patriots at number three? I did it, I’m drunk with power erdahl.
I’m fine. I’m above the law.
They should have never given it to me. I have an MVP vote. Who
wants to touch me? I have it,
I’m only going to have it one year and then they’ll take it
away. But listen, I think I
don’t look at the odds and stuff like that. I think a lot
of the conversation is that
Matthew Stafford is MVP, my only problem with it, and maybe
I’ll end up voting for him, is
like, I don’t think Matthew Stafford could possibly humanly
care less about winning the MVP.
Like I’m already bored with how bored he is with the MVP. Like
he he wants to win a second
Super Bowl and be in that really rare class. And he’s an
instant Hall of Famer if that
happens. So he doesn’t even want the MVP. But we’ll find
out. He may just have to get it.
For as bored as Stafford may be with it, Drake May is just
downright uncomfortable talking
about it. And if you want to see, go to the post game
interview he did with Tracy
Wolfson. Until then, do one of those guys get our game ball
for the week? We’re going to
talk to Judy Battista from the NFL, and we’re going to hand
out one of these. Does it go to
one of your MVP votes? This is Wednesdays on Nickelodeon and
streaming next day on
Paramount+. Hey, we talked about swinging, right. We were
at halftime. We were in that
sixth round, right? And we needed everybody to keep
swinging. Yeah, I told you guys,
don’t blink. No matter what. Everybody just kept punching.
Keep punching. We kept throwing
haymakers to finish in the fourth quarter guys. We
finished 26 to 0 in the fourth
quarter. That’s how you feel. That’s how you finish the game
right there. An absolute gut
punch. If you are any opponent that lets 26 points get scored
on you in the fourth quarter,
the Texans did it to the Jags. That is a divisional crime.
Manti. Speaking of the AFC
South where do you give your game ball out. You know it’s so
fitting that Demeco Ryans said
don’t blink because you don’t want to blink on this game. My
game ball goes to Jonathan
Taylor. What he did internationally, he had 32
carries for 244 yards, three
touchdowns. But he broke a franchise record. You cannot
not have a game ball when you
break a franchise record. He also tied Derrick Henry, Adrian
Peterson and Jim Brown for the
most games with at least 200 yards and three touchdowns in
NFL history. This guy made
history not only for his franchise, but in the NFL, and
thus he got my game ball. Have
to. Sometimes it’s so obvious. Got to now. I respect you, man.
Ty. You know what I’m saying? I
respect your I know you do, brother Jonathan Taylor. You
know he did his thing. He’s
been balling out. But if you don’t do a dance like this,
then you can’t get a game ball.
My game ball goes to Matthew Stafford doing his dance all
day long. You guys are going to
see him right here. Watch the shimmy. He gets hit gets up and
gets me that yeah. Shake it off.
Four touchdowns zero interceptions. That is the
dance that you do when that
occurs. It’s also the dance that you do when you’re ranked
first in the league in passing
yards per game, passing touchdowns. And when your first
player ever in the history of
the NFL to have four passing touchdowns and no interceptions
in three straight regular
season games. Matthew Stafford you can do the dance all day
long. That’s why you get my
game ball. Why do we never see the completion of that play? We
just see the shimmy after. Is
that all we care about? Yeah. You know. All right. Stafford
Jonathan Taylor Matthew
Stafford I want to make sure that we don’t just go to the
headline guys in the NFL. You
know what I mean Kyle I need some help with my game ball.
When you watch this highlight
for my game ball recipient who is the player. Can you help me
out. Just they’re just going to
roll it. Sure. Let’s find out. Yeah. Do you know just just
post your treatment. Is that
Devon? I know his game. That’s it. Look at him. He’s gone.
Yeah, he gone, he gone. Buck 74.
Rushing on the ground. Good for 22 rushes, 51 receiving yards
and two rushing touchdowns,
handing the Buffalo Bills time to run the clock out. Bleed it
out on Miami’s largest beatdown
of the bills since 2011, which was a 17 point difference. It’s
incredible. Devon running all
over. He got the the Dolphins do a cute thing where they
changed the stickers on their
elevator doors in the building. And Devon got the treatment
this week. So he also gets my
game ball. And if I may be so bold, NFL international, maker
of the posters for the games, I
think it should be the Devon Chen game ahead of the Madrid
Dolphins Commanders game that’s
happening this week in Spain. Kyle, I know that in the world
of the Photoshop, you would
agree that Devon should get that poster treatment. Yeah, we
had some fun with him a few
weeks ago where Amazon just showed his face on a Thursday
night game. We’re like, we
don’t know who that is. We do football for a living. We know
his game. It was a very well
deserved. He was excellent yesterday. He’s an excellent,
excellent player. But my game
ball I’m going to the bears and I’m going to give this one to a
dunce John James a dunce James
the Dunes is Roman doomsday father. He made a big deal in
the Chicago media this week
that after the Bengals game in which everybody ate on the
offense, Roman Doomsday did not
have a single reception. He was shut out in the 47 point
performance of the bears
offense. So yes. So, James Doomsday make some noise. It
becomes a big story in Chicago.
Roman Doomsday is like, I don’t know if that’s his take. That’s
my dad. Roman Doomsday was
targeted on the very first play for the bears. He was asked
afterwards what he thought of
it and he said, thanks dad. And everybody laughed and ended up
having ten targets, six catches,
86 yards and a touchdown. It’s a weird story because he was
leading the bears in targets
and receiving, and he’s actually like a top 25 guy in
the league for targets. But
dad’s will dad, I understand it. I would probably do the same
thing at this point. Roman,
doomsday and more importantly, James Doomsday. He pops off,
the kid gets the ball. Not just
not oh, look at this. There’s Dudley De Niro. James retweeted
this Roman doomsday should be
seen at least ten targets per game. This is insane. And then
you get the dad retweet. It’s
hard for me to make judgment about this because if my kid
was in the NFL, I might be
doing the same thing. I’d like to think otherwise, but who
knows? The bears win, the kid
gets the ball, the dad gets a pat on the back game ball. To
all the doomsday family.
Sometimes the subtlety of retweeting other people’s
thoughts just validates what
you have in your heart and in your brain. And shout out to
Mr. Doomsday, you’re just
putting out there in the universe. And he didn’t say it.
You are not responsible in Rome
for what your dad reposts. Okay? These are not the thoughts of
my current employer. Do not
hold them against me or them. Thank you very much. Game ball
everybody. Mr. doomsday, shout
out to your social media game. We were not familiar, however,
we were familiar with JT, Matt
Stafford and Devon H. Gifts. So good. My family’s gonna think I
can read minds, which is a gift
in itself or Now to get a $100 gift card for
a free quote. Hey hey hey hey
hey hey hey. Hey hey hey. You know, some wins. The greatest
smell in the NFL. You know,
some wins just hit different. You know what I mean? He’s like
60, by the way. These cards
have wheels. Yeah they do man. Let’s roll. What makes the most
is that that’s the Miami
Dolphins. You know what I mean? Like, not too long ago there
was a lot of talk about them
and all of that stuff. So there’s no way but to start my
no way off. Okay, let’s go back
to the Ravens game where you had three guys that are all pro
and Pro Bowlers and being used
for in ways that we don’t usually see them. Let’s go to
third and one. You got Mark
Andrews. He’s under center. He tosses the ball to Lamar
Jackson. And Derrick Henry is
out blocking. Like when they when those two guys make it to
the to the Hall of Fame. Mark
Andrews has a great chance. We’re not going to be known for
Lamar lining up at running back.
You got Derrick Henry lead blocking. Yeah. And this is on
third and one. I was like
there’s no way that the Baltimore Ravens just used
their three main guys on
offense to do things that we ain’t normally used to seeing
them do. So that was my. No way.
Very good okay. No way. All right. So there’s no way
typically in the NFL that you
have a scoring touchdown on the defensive side of things. And
then there’s definitely no way
if they’re scoring touchdown happens by the same player
right. That doesn’t occur like
that. Well actually it did. So there is a way because what you
see right here in Seattle
Seahawks coming through. Get the big boom strip sack. Who
scoops and scores DeMarcus
Lawrence agent zero for the Seahawks right there. Runs that
thing all the way through for a
touchdown. But is this the same play Jamie. No no it just looks
like the same play. Scoop and
score again. One hand grab this time. Crosses the line one more
time. My goodness I mean
there’s just definitely no way man. How you play defense that
you can get two scoop and
scores in the same game. I wish if I did, I’d probably still be
playing. Dang it. That’s how
good that is. That’s a good one. That’s a good one indeed. That
did have happen twice. Well
done. We’re all parents here on the show and those at home. I
hope you can relate. I am in a
very specific age of parenting with my youngest. She is one
and a half. She can’t
communicate super well, but boy can she understand. So when I
tell her things like don’t,
don’t touch that remote, we’re in the she just hovers her hand
over it just to just for in the
spirit of just in the spirit of defiance. So Rico Dowdle, when
you yourself were fined
recently for your style of celebration when you scored
again this weekend for the
Panthers, did you go for the one pump? Did you go for the
two pumps he set up? Do you
dare? Do you dare set up? No, no, no, you’re not going to
take my money? No. But did you
see the referee though? They were ready. The referees were
ready. Watch the whistle. So
listen, don’t touch the remote. Don’t touch the stove. No, no,
no, don’t do it. Don’t. I don’t
want to. Oh, you’re a smart man. No, you’re a smart man, Rico
Dowdle. Well done. Well done
sir. Keep that money in your pocket, Rico. You’re the man.
Yeah, kind of relatable too. He
almost there and then he gets turned down. Well, at least he
still scored. Guys, my no way
is it’s kind of a deep cut. I’m going to the Patriots end of
the first half. There’s no way.
Was this the worst quarterback sneak of all time or is there
more going on here. Drake Maye
is that the goal line. Roll the clip. No. All right so here’s
the deal. Everybody including
me believes that this is Mike Vrabel saying dude go down
intentionally. Let’s spin a
little more clock so we don’t give the Bucs the ball back
with more time in the second
quarter. Drake Maye is like, no, no, no. Vida Veya blew up the
sneak I was trying to score.
Mike Vrabel would not comment on it afterwards. This was an
intentionally bad kind of
quarterback sneak set up to fail just to spin the clock
because the Bucs had no
timeouts and it worked. Vrabel has this meathead reputation.
He’s shedding it immediately.
He is a master of clock management. He showed this here.
Now they risked it a little bit
because they had to go all the way to fourth and goal and had
to have a toe tap by Stefon
Diggs. But I love they had the chutzpah to say just burn first
down let them burn clock. It
looked ugly, but it really was
