Caleb Williams leads another big Bears comeback | NFL Today
Welcome inside our CBS Sports Studios. I’m Adam Shine alongside my guy, the great Kyle Long. And Kyle, I want to get into the Bears with you, which is always fun. Yep. Obviously, you played for the Bears. You were a star on the offensive line. How about that? Liility. Liability. All pro couple times at least. Got a couple contracts. You know what I love about the Bears this year? They are winning games that in the past they would lose. And I’m not gonna say that today was a Picasso, but the Giants had the lead. The Giants have the game. I frankly thought this one was over and it was in route to being a really dreadful loss for Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. There was an injury. Jackson darts gets concussed. He’s out. And great teams, well coached teams, mentally tough teams have the ability to seize a moment like that and pounce. And that to me is the most impressive thing about these now six and3 Chicago Bears. They’re winning games that in the past under prior coaches they would have been down and out and would not have the ability to come back. It feels like to me that the Chicago Bears didn’t hire a football coach. They hired a fight coach. Love that. And there’s unless you’re completely out knocked out cold, you better get off the mat and keep swinging. And that’s the team that I’m watching for the Chicago Bears. And to your brilliant point, previous regimes in Chicago have found ways to lose these games, have found ways to not even be in the game. You know, you see the Giants jump up early and everybody who’s watched these movies before, the Chicago Bears, they start, “Oh my god, is this happening again, but then bang, bang, bang, next thing you know, the Chicago Bears get an opportunity to go drive down the field at the end of the game and win it on the shoulders of their quarterback, their uh secondyear number one pick, Caleb Williams.” And that’s who I want to talk about. Caleb Williams has a clutch factor about him that I could smell a mile away coming in the National Football League. And when he first came in the league last year, you could see flashes of superstardom. Freaky talented things that he does. But the thing that stands out to me the most about Caleb Williams is that at the end of the game when his team needs him the most and you know the fate of the universe is on the line, he finds a way to get it done. Yeah. Time after time. And there’s a lot of criticism about Caleb Williams. Uh quite frankly, I don’t care if you don’t know ball. Yeah, I agree with it. People complain about accuracy issues. I would say some of his misses this year are smart misses because rookie year the misses would have gone into the defensive back’s hands. His misses sail high. his misses go out of bounds. So for a layman, they watch that and say he’s inaccurate. Well, if you watch today, you would have seen six drops for his receivers. Okay. The guy I think they need to get more implemented into the offense is rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III because when he comes off the bench and gets involved in that offensive game plan, he’s explosive. Okay, he wants the ball. He fiends for the ball and when Caleb gives it to him, great things happen. All in all, great job by the Chicago Bears finding a way to win this game. Ben Johnson, his attitude, his toughness has permeated the locker room. It feels like details are more important now than ever. And they’ve got the quarterback. The conversation now goes from the conversation now goes from, “Oh, should we play Tyson Bean to how much are we going to have to pay Caleb Williams?” Right. And with that was always crazy talk with Tyson Beijing anyway. Or to your point, people not understanding that Caleb Williams is tough and clutch and is unequivocally in every possible way a franchise quarterback. And and what I love, if you look at the landscape here, cuz we’re, you know, for the Bears, week 10’s in the books. They’re 6-3. And Minnesota lost today, four- five. Packers are 52-1. They have Philly on Monday Night Football. And I can’t stress enough in the you tried to ban the tush push game. Philly is going to absolutely stomp on Green Bay. And Green Bay has a very tough schedule down the stretch. I forgot that they tried to ban the tush push. Think about that. Those punks. Let’s run it 70 times. Chicago’s alive. Look, we can debate alive and well, but I think for Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams, year one together, Kyle, they’re going to be playing meaningful football game in December with an opportunity to play in the playoffs. And this is all just whipped cream on top of a delicious coffee. That’s right. And the coffee for me is get a couple wins. Show me that your team can run the football. Play a little bit of defense. Find a way to get your quarterback to progress in his second year. Check, check, check. They’ve done all that. They got to stay healthy on defense. That concerns me a little bit. But this football team is a stock that I would buy on and say that I can retire on this stock in a year, two years, three years, four years. And I feel like they’re only going to get better. Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, the marriage has really worked. The offensive line has stepped up. Um, and Dennis Allen’s the right guy for the defensive side of the ball. And I think they have a really smart unit that’s been put together the right way by Ryan Poles. And now you got to wait. It’s like a Chia Petet. Okay. You you spray water on it and then you wait and then next thing you know that thing’s got a 5 in afro and that’s what we’re going to be look that’s be looking after Chicago Bears. Yeah. If I don’t put anything in my hair, I kind of look like So we can talk about playoffs, no playoffs, all that. It’s out the window. It’s free football to me, by the way. Free football. Let me give you a little flip side. I agree with you. It is free football in a great way for Chicago Giants today. Giants. It almost feels like the end with Eberloose, right? What could go wrong goes wrong and it snowballs and mushrooms. Look, Jackson Dart was having a day and and let’s be honest, that boy can play. He’s fantastic. And I I I I give the Bears credit because he goes out and they pounce and that’s a sign of a well coached team with great toughness and metal and give Caleb and Ben Johnson to Dennis Allen, the defense, everybody credit. For the Giants, it’s the opposite. And we could start talking about any loss that’s been awful during the course of this season. Obviously, the low light with the game in in Denver. Boy, I mean, this is the anatomy of how you lose hope, lose a team. I think they had the wrong quarterback ready to back up Jackson Dart. It should have been Jameus Winston. And I don’t and I like Brian Dal. I don’t like what he’s done this year. I don’t see how he keeps his job. I’ve been part of teams in the past where even if we’re down 17 points, because of the men on the sideline, because of the guy with the headset on, I know we’ve got a chance, right? I’ve also been part of teams where even if we’re winning by 10 points, I’m thinking to myself, when’s the shoe going to drop? When is that play going to happen that I just know is going to happen and we’re going to end up being down by seven points in a in a flash. I kind of get the sense that this Giants team is there. They’ve got a lot of the right guys. Do they have the right guy on the headset? What’s their plan moving forward? Because this Jackson Dart guy can play some football. Listen, I think that the Giants going to end up making a coaching change. And I think the ultimate blueprint now is finding the right guy like the Bears did with Ben Johnson for Caleb Williams. Find the right guy for Jackson Darts. For Kyle Long, I’m Adam Shine.

Real competition is about to begin, GB, GB, Det, SF, Phil, Pitts. Playoffs? Da Bears.
It's tough being a QB in Chicago…
richard hightower
Lb3 definitely does fiend for the ball, well said, lets feed the rookie
Our defense lets up a lot of yards but they are bought in on playmaking despite that deficiency. I like the strategy of making the most with what they have. The best part of our coaching is they do not remain in delusion about who we are and what needs to happen to maximize our roster. So it is about time luther burden is starting
The people who wanted bagent to start also wanted the bears to keep fields, these people do NOT know football at even a basic level
Iโm not convinced of Caleb yet. He got hit too many times his rookie year and has the Rocky III side affects. I must say he does have a cannon for an arm.
where Colin was wrong๐๐ญ
caleb is great. bears, when they win a division game i'll believe.
OUR BEARS ARE A LOT BETTER!! IN BEN WE TRUST GO BEARS!
Dart reminds me of Joe Montana and Steve Young combined.
There is something to be said about being great when you HAVE TO be.
People are acting like the Bears haven't been playing Burden. He was out part of the game vs. the Ravens with a concussion and that caused him to miss the Bengals game as well. The Bears are bringing him along and he's shining when he gets his moments. They will absolutely give him more opportunities. No need to rush it.
They absolutely need to give burden the ballโฆ.. listenโฆ.. I did a franchise mode with the bears and itโs literally happening the way it was in my gameโฆ.. we find out the tight ends are the players we need to dish the ball toโฆ.. and Luther burden was my top receiver in the slot positionโฆ. I want to laugh but itโs scary how I have seen the future of this season play out
CBS Sports is giving so much coverage to the Chicago Bears and I'm loving it. Kyle Long is the goat.
Clutch Williams out here handling BUSINESS ๐๐๐๐๐

Didn't Chicago have another 4th Qtr guy who came alive in the 4th??
I'm mainly just watching line play these days, especially the tackles. Trapilo and Benedet gettin' it done MOST of the time. Cool. Is there a feed anywhere of that backfield shot?
To be honest though. If Dart doesnโt get hurt Bears loose that game
The teams the Bears beat have a combined record of 15-41-1. You need to just slow down there Kyle.
Da Bears ๐ป have got a lot of ugly wins against a lot of bad teams.
I'm not sold.
Da Bears.๐ป
The sign of a good team is one that wins no matter how horrible they play, they find a way to win.
I'll tell you what. Dart was fun to watch as well. It's always fun watching QBs who run and know they won't be in the league more than 2 years. Dart took a BEATING
Turns out the Bears have had the weakest schedule so far in the NFL.
Waiting for this Bears QB to get hurt out for the season and mabey no more football!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ Bears QB curse!! ๐๐๐๐๐
