The Yes. Extravaganza. extravaganza. What’s Santana coming? Santana. No, it is this. It’s an inside joke between Chris and I. Okay. Yeah. Tell us during the break. Yeah, we will. We will. It is 66 degrees. The high is 69. The low is 44. It feels like 61. He is Shannon. In the back is Chris Bean. Keeping us live and local. Welcome back to the show. That is three-time Super Bowl champion Nate Newton. This is Kurt. One pump Daniels cuz two pumps will get you a fine and a flag. I am salt and pepper poppy. Together we make hanging with the boys the sports talk equivalent to brail people us when we speak. Wing stop is he. Yes sir. Yes sir. Wow. So how we doing today? We’re doing good. Okay guys. So I come bearing gifts again. All right. Let’s go. Come bearing gifts again. I like I like these shows. I do too. Start this off. Another one of our extremely loyal listeners, a friend of mine named Roger from Abalene. Roger from Abalene, retired and and and and Raj used to make clothes, custom clothes for many, many, many years. And uh I had a chance to sit and meet with him uh this past Sunday um with another one of my good friends. Uh if I’ve ever told you the story about winning fourth along when I came here, who I stay with, uh it was Jeff and Gloria White. And so we all met. I had a chance to meet and and and uh spend time together. And and Raj wanted me to to give you guys something. And I’m going to tell you because I can be selfish at times. I wanted to be selfish. I did. Okay. I did. You wanted to hold back all of it. Yeah. 100%. And uh Rod said, “No, man. Come on. Share it with the boys. He he he loves he loves you, Nate. He loves you.” And so so give it all to me. No. Well, cuz he loves me. So this is the company. So Roger used to make clothes for this company called Holland and Sherry. And these are all silk custommade ties. Now, as you can see, there were are four here. Mhm. There were five. I’m just telling you that I took the one that I wanted the most out of the three. No problem. And I decided I would let you guys pick through the rest of these ties that Roger has given us. A couple of festive ones in there. Yeah. So, there’s one with like There’s one that’s like a black one. The black and fuchsia one. Yeah. All right. I got I got the I’ll take the yellow one. Okay. All right. Well, you want this one. All right. There we go, Kurt. So you’re left with the peppers and then the and then the chicken. The chicken with the rooster. Oh, that’s rooster. Yeah, that’s a rooster with a clock on it with the Yeah, I don’t know what that what you say. What on a rooster with a clock? So a clock with a clock. and a clock on it. Cockadoodle doof. You say a clock. Is that a knew where this was going? So which one you want, Kurt? I guess I’ll take the and the clock. Take one pump. I’ll take the peppers. You take the peppers. Don’t do that. I said he can’t look at that. Well, Chris said he can’t go home with that. Chris, I’m sending you I’m sending you home with the and the clock. I’ll send you home with that one. So, uh, thank you, Roger. Thanks, Roger, man. We appreciate that, Roger, man. I really appreciate that. Next time come directly to me. Okay. Let me see that one. No, you ain’t going to see a No, you ain’t going to see I saw your eyes. Yeah. No, it’s it’s I saw that. Uh, and shout out to his uh I’m trying it already, man. to his his wife Marge. So they uh yeah, he wants to have it, man. And so I see Raj, I I did good. I didn’t keep him off to myself like I thought I I wanted to. I wanted to. I think he This is the sharpest one. That’s not Jesse stole the sharpest one. Yeah, I did. I Yeah. Yeah. I I got I got on I got on it early. So, uh he watches our show religiously every single day. So he he is tapped in tied in. He said to you, Shannon, he said, “You know, there are times when you begin to talk that you actually know more about football than you lead on to believe.” Times. I said times. I said times. I said, “Well, he was in the building for like how many years?” 20. Yeah. I said there are times where he said, “You know what? Off you appreciate that.” So, yeah. He loves the show, man. So, so don’t we have an extra day this week? No, we No, we don’t. No, that was last week. That was last week. We do have an extra day. Another Monday games. Yeah. Yeah, I got an extra day. Yeah, extra day. Yeah. So, well, thank you, Roger. Yes. Thank you, Roger. Thank you for the compliment. We love gifts. And Jesse, that was very smart of you because you look cuz you know that is very strong cuz you know if you’d have brought that in here and Nate would have wanted it. You wouldn’t have left with that. No, no, no. I’m see I would have been okay until you said Roger liked me the best. So, I mean, why didn’t I get the first chair? But you know what? To your defense, you are on camera more these days than any of us. Nuhuh. That’s right. I think we’re live. Yeah. You can find Jess YouTube. What else? True. I’m everywhere. Yeah, I’m everywhere. Well, thank you. I’m I’m just laughing looking at Shannon and his camera and how short that tie is. Want everybody to be able to see all the time. Oh my god. See, I messed up, man. I messed up. Little tie. Little little your child. Little guy. Little T. Those little those little little snap-ons you get when you when you like four years old. Wow. Oh, that fits you, Shannon. That’s it. That’s it. There you go. All right. Also, before we get going, uh, happy belated birthday to you. You You snuck that in on us for real. Yesterday was yesterday. Wow. Happy belated birthday. I was like, you snuck that in on us. Okay. So, what make you 53? 52. Three. 53. All right. Oh man, man. I’m getting up there. Sheesh. I was going to bring it up, but I don’t think yesterday’s show was was the one. Yeah. Share a birthday with the Marines. Uh went out to dinner. Yeah. And had a couple of Miller Lights last night. Did it end? Did it end properly? No, but it was a hell of a weekend, I’ll tell you that. Okay. All right. All right. You made up for I was in recovery mode. Yeah. Okay. All right. If you could tell, my voice is a little horse. Oh, so you were screaming. Got you. Yeah. You know, you know, you I might need to do some renaming around here, Kurt. I might need to be Shannon too pump. You know what I’m saying? Gross. Yeah, it was good. So, but uh it was gross. Well, if it wasn’t, then if it ain’t, you ain’t having no fun. Shout out to everybody at trailer parks. There you go. And uh thank you to everybody that has served the country in some branch of the military. Uh shout out to Uncle Burley. Shout out to Uncle Stanley. Those are my uncles who served. Very good. Shout out to everyone that uh helped defend the freedoms of the country and still do. So yeah, appreciate that. Defend this freedom with Kirk and get two pumps. There you go. I’m talking about can’t do it in a group. Maybe can’t do it in a group. They define that. They did what they said with a flag. So funny. They probably said, “Yeah, you get two pumps.” But you did two, he did two. He That’s 10 pumps. Everybody, you could get two. If one person get two, but if all y’all get two, that’s 10. They threw the flag. Who pays the fine on that? Rico, cuz you initiated. You initiated this, Rico. Oh, yeah. You scored a touchdown. We don’t do this without you scoring a touchdown. And before we get to Cowboys football, has there ever been a better a team with a better record that seems like they’re in more disarray than the Philadelphia Eagles? I mean, you got guys fighting on the sideline. Listen to the national media. And he he might be the only quarterback since Eli that’s trash that won a Super Bowl according to everybody. He is awful. But they just keep winning games. That’s just tell you what kind of roster they have, man. That roster is so that roster is so complete from top to bottom is that you can have a below average quarterback or he not play above average and you still be able to, you know, they won the game last night 10 to seven. I know. Think about that. at like 10 in Green Bay. In Green Bay, you know what kind of defense you got to have to hold any NFL offense to seven points? It’s pretty good. Not bad. Let’s go one more point to the other team. That’s what Nate says every week. One point. Yep. By one. By one. By one. We’ll see what he says this week. Weird. Very weird week this week, right? Had the Had the by week. Have they ever had a by-week and then a Monday night game? Has that ever happened? I heard this from Chris Arnold this morning when he was talking to Jerry. There’s never been this many Sundays that had passed by in Cowboys history that the Cowboys did not play on Sunday. It’s weird because they they played what? Monday night, right? Yeah. And then they had the buy and then they’ll play on Monday night this week. So that’ll be three one, two, three Sundays that the Cowboys have played. It’s never happened in Cowboy history that they’ve had this many Sundays pass by and they don’t play a game on Sunday. I think Derek was saying that they don’t travel on a Saturday until like the last game of the season. Wow. Because all the games are Thursday and Monday. Monday. That’s weird. Wow. That’s wild. By the way, congratulations to all the Mavs fans out there. Big news coming out of Dallas today. Y’all have a little bit to talk about on your other shows, Jesse? Well, the Mav show did. We still talk Cowboys. That came out of the blue. Nico Nico’s gone. All right, let’s get into some cowboy football. They paid him in advance. Yeah, he made his money for sure. A lot of that going around in sports these days. Just bring them in, fire them up. I’ll take I’ll take one of those college jobs. Sit on my calculator. I always said I didn’t want to coach, but more and more I’m starting to be like, I might need to start getting to this coaching thing, man. This failing failing up is is happening. Go go go hard for eight years. Just let your name get your head coaching job and just say, “Hey, I’m through.” Just, “Hey, I don’t care if you win or lose.” We ain’t heard from Jimbo Fisher. We ain’t heard, seen, and heard from Jimbo, Coach O, James Franklin, you give me $50 million. I’ll disappear. I will disappear. Gladly. Gladly. All right, Nate. What’s wrong with the offensive line? Can you help us out? What has happened? The injuries, uh, they haven’t played together. they they they haven’t played together. Uh you know, when the first injury with our left tackle Gen went down in training camp, I said, “Fellas, this ain’t good.” And uh I I looked at the film hard. I was just looking at our offensive line because I didn’t want to say the wrong things. And I noticed right away I left guard. He is hurt. Smith. Yeah. It ain’t just a little little, you know, little nagging something. Whatever’s going on with him, he is hurt bad. Uh so he pushing his way through Gayton. Uh he’ll hit and miss. I mean it just two plays he’ll play well. One play he’ll just give it up. You see an improvement from uh that’s what I’m saying. Last year he would just give it up. This year here he’s getting a but it’s not enough for you to be saying, “Hey, this is your starting future left tackle.” Uh the right tackle is starting and I think they’re going to start splitting reps with the with uh with Nathan and uh your interior is going to be okay, but they have to work together. I I I tried to say this earlier when Jesse said that the Cowboys have to score 40 points. I said in my mind, you have to be as offensive line no injuries. You cannot suffer injuries especi because especially looking at our now schedule. Remember four or five weeks ago we like oh this is guess what coming is here. It it it’s here. So now you need for every guy that’s an offensive lineman that’s been starting has to be playing at a premium level. It ain’t no more oh man we ain’t got this guy. It’s going to hurt you. It’s going it’s going to hurt you bad. So, now that it’s here, do you need to be replacing your right tackle? Uh, put one of them in and let’s ride and let your system be built around it. Yeah, just put one of them in and let us ride. Uh, uh, when you say put one of them in, are you talking about leave the current one in or put a new one in? Whatever they want to do. Because until we see Nathan play, we don’t know because he went in the game for five or six snaps and they ran around him, too. So, what I’m saying, let him get some reps if you But don’t be going back and forth. Don’t do that because when they people start running games and stunts and all this right here, you don’t want somebody, oh, I didn’t see that. Okay, we we that’s Dak. Every time we make a mistake as offensive line, that’s Dak going to pay for that. You know, running backs, they kind of can see that. You know, even if it’s a quick escape, they can see that. But Dak dropped back, pumped one time, and turned his back to look over here cuz he done set up the safety. And now he done got side up. You know what I’m saying? Twice they on flag. Say what, bro? He pumped twice, they flag. Yes, they are, Jesse. I agree with you. The quarterbacks pump as much as they want. Yeah. I just I’ve argued with people and I believe this. If our offensive line was intact, if our offensive line was just a B-rated offensive line, it it couldn’t be too many bad days for us. But, you know, our saying on this, when teams get equal or better, one thing that that troubles me, and I don’t I don’t closely cover any other team in the National Football League, but the Dallas Cowboys. So, I I am uniquely uh Don’t ask about them last night. No, I I’m just I’m I’m uniquely situated in this system. Mhm. I watch football every day, right? I’m I’m always watching it and I’ve studied it, but it just feels like and maybe it’s different other places. I don’t know, but I’m just talking for where I’m sitting is that we have to almost have everything go perfect for us to have success. Like you like for example, like to me one of the to me one of the scariest and baddest in a good way football teams in the league right now is the the Los Angeles Rams. Name me an offensive lineman. You I don’t think they have a first round off first round offensive lineman on their on their offensive line. You got three. It’s like how do they do it? H how do they have such a prolific offense when they don’t they don’t have three first round offensive linemen? You know what I’m saying? Like the New England Patriots right now, they’re playing some of the brush better football. They don’t have three first round offensive linemen. It just feels like we we have to have now I I’m always going to be in agreements in agreeance about having good players and I do think on both sides of the ball you need to have those as at least an elite player on both sides of the ball and an above average quarterback. Those are prere prerequisites of you being good. Pick a defender, pick an offensive player and a quarterback. But there are so many other teams that are out here having success. The San Francisco 49ers, they are as injured or not more than we are. Winning record. Winning record. They’re five and three. like it it just seems like if we if everything isn’t perfect and again I I’m I don’t cover other teams as closely as I cover this team but I’ve been around here for a long time and I I remember the days when if Tyron have was having one of his back issues Yeah. and couldn’t play in the game couldn’t do nothing. That’s the that’s the thing. It’s been different coaches. It’s been different players. If Shawn Lee was missing the game. We couldn’t play defense at all. So, I’m just like, what is it about this place? And like you said, Kurt, it’s been different coaches. It’s been different coordinators. It’s been different eras. What is it about this place, excuse me, that makes people, not make people, but the players have to be perfect for us to have any level of success? and like perfect consistently because I see it happen week in and week out all across this league of players of teams not having the best players at the offensive line and still go out there and score points. But here we have three first round picks and some respected coaches there too offensive line. Yeah. I I don’t know, man. I just I look at that and I just like I scratch my head. I’m just like you know what I’m saying? like what is it? How many first round How many first round offensive linemen do the the Seattle team have? Mhm. You know what I mean? It’s just I don’t know. I don’t know. I just Or is it that we we we’re just so close to it? It could be. No, no, no. You telling the truth. We we have no we have not had an identity of of whether it’s physicalness, elite smartness. I I’ll tell you why the 49ers keep racking it. They they smart. They a smart football team. I’m not saying they don’t have penalties, but they’re a smart football team and they know who every player is and what every player can do and they mash and they put all that together. Same way with the Rams. They know who they are. They know how to practice. They try to show us how to practice. But you got to have depth. They know what they want. They know what they’re looking for. Philadelphia let a guy go to free agency this past year and say, “Uhoh, we need a swing tackle.” And traded back to the team that got him and brought him back in. And guess what? He started last night. That’s knowing who you are. That’s knowing that’s getting a coach, putting them in place and demanding the best from your players. Not not, oh, we we we waiting on Malik and we waiting on this guy. But you got to understand, you ain’t one with them guys either because there’s not a standard. And I’m hoping that with the with getting these Wilson with getting uh Quinny that you’re starting to set an example of what to expect and demand. And it begins and ends with Shotti. You know, it begins and ends with the head coach of the Rams. It begins and ends with the head coach of the 49ers. And I’m talking about teams that have been consistent. And even when they had a down year, they come back this year and got like eight, nine guys injured, they don’t even talk about them no more. They don’t even talk about the injured guys no more because this is who we playing and this is how we got to play. And so until we find that true identity, I ain’t talking about no culture. I’m talking about that true identity. Are you going to have the greatest, smartest players that may not be as athletic, but our depth is in place because his intelligence can overtake or you going to just have some mean, rough, I’mma hurt you type guys like Philly defensive line that’s just going to take advantage of you. You got to make a decision. Good stuff. Let’s take our first break. When we come back, more football. Hang on with the boys. Be right back. How about them Cowboys? What I do? You just grab the tie. Put it on. Yeah. You know, I want to tie his love. He’s showing his love, man. Appreciate this gift. Yeah, man. Speaking of appreciating gifts, are we going to get to wear our jerseys on Tuesday? I better put mine in the truck cuz I don’t want to forget. Mine’s in my bag. It’s been in my bag for three weeks. Yeah, I’m going to put mine in my truck before I forget, man. Sweetheart, if you’re listening, please we going to have to wear it on a Friday or we can stop some love. Yeah, this stretch is coming up. We don’t wear this Tuesday. We might not wear them. No, my man. It’s here. It’s here. This stretch Wingstop is here. It is. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go, Chris. See, ride with me here. Just All right. The reason I’m saying the stretch, you’re picking me up this time. All right. Yeah. The reason I say the stretch is here. You all act like we beat uh the Cardinals. Yeah, we did not beat the Cardinals. The stretch is here, fellas. The stretch is here. You going to have to go Are they coming to us? We going We going to Vegas? Yeah. You going to have to remember now. We ain’t won. We ain’t won on the road yet, have we? We’ve lost at home, but we ain’t run on the road. Yeah, we beat the Jets. We beat the Really? Sorry. Really? We beat the Jets on the road. On the road. Yeah. On the road. All right. All right. Okay. But you know, like New Jerseyy’s kind of home for us, at least for Dak. No, man. You’re right. Pretty good up there. But I just Max Crosby plays on the left side of their defensive line. Mhm. The right side of our offense. So, do you think this is a good time to play musical tackles? See that? That’s what I’m saying. Me, if I’m offensive line coach, if I’m coach Connor, I’m like, “Look here, coach. I know you running this, but I need to get this one guy all the reps and then we need to scheme off of that right there. We don’t need to do the, you know, cuz that right there can get you hurt. That that, you know, tackles can get you hurt playing them musical tackles. Like you make them go in that middle a little bit, but you can’t go out on them on them tackles and go to playing musical tackles. Problem with, you know, the last game against Arizona, they put in Thomas at right tackle and said, “Here, let’s just see what he got.” and he was pretty bad. That that’s what I’m trying to tell you. You practice him all year at left tackle while while Gayton was out and you said this is his best position. So you pigeonhold him and then when the season start. Yeah, we know you but let’s get over here, you know, and and some people say, “Well, it shouldn’t make a difference.” Yes, it does. Yes, it does. I could play left guard. I could play right tackle, but it was something about putting me at right guard. I could not get right in my head. I just could not get it right. Is it your footwork, your hands? Bro, I didn’t know what it was. When they blew through past me a couple of times, I just found out I didn’t have a job, you know? So, I I each person is different. And I’m not saying that these men can’t learn. They probably more athletic than I was. They they they you know, but your quarterback I we always thought about Troy. You always think about Troy. We we never put in a pass play or a new run unless we knew how to block it. That that predicated you can catch the pass all day in practice, but if we up front weren’t blocking this thing right, that had to go to the next week. It’s always about the protection. is that is first and foremost. Any offensive coordinator say, “Man, I got a a million uh pass plays.” You better be having a dude sit right to you, the offensive line coach, say, “Well, you ain’t got a million protections.” And the head coach say, “Well, we ain’t running a million play. We may run uh 700 of them, but we ain’t running a million.” That’s just how it going to go. Cuz the quarterback is the only thing that counts. Yeah. Speaking of, we’ve heard that Shotti’s been spending more time. We touched on this a little bit. Go back to your own room, Shotty. Is that a coincidence? They haven’t been scoring and the offense hasn’t looked as great with him not spending as much time on the offensive side or there is nothing that is I mean there is no information or data that we can take from that and say well this is the reason this happened. Mhm. But you could speculate, you can speculate that your attention has been over on the defense and how and trying to figure those things out and you know at the end of the day you become you’re human and so you know where you lack at. You’ve spent time over there. So now are you is that is that getting into your brain as you’re calling plays? Are you calling plays now because you know where the super weaknesses are on the defense because you spent time over there? I I don’t know. But the two core like the timing of it is a correlation between the timing of it of when this offense took a hit and when you said you started spending more time with the defense. Those timelines match. So it leaves you it it it opens up the door. It leaves the door open for you to walk in and speculate. Mhm. It’s saying that because you went down the hallway and spent more time over there. Maybe now it could just simply be the opponents you were playing just that much better. Could be. That’s the thing about it is is that because you opened up and you said that and then now we’re seeing it, people will start to try to connect these dots in some way, shape or form. Again, there’s no evidence of it. Like there’s nothing that that says we don’t know how he could have been down the hall with the defense for five minutes, right? Could have been down there for 15 hours. We don’t know. We’re just left with the level of speculation. And because we don’t have any concrete um evidence, we’re trying to figure out ourselves the best way that we could put the stuff together. Like make it make sense to us. Make the math math because the one thing that was riding high was this offense. There was a stretch of this, you know, when Dak had 13 touchdowns and no interceptions. And I mean, this thing was rolling. And then now it seems like the the train off the track a little bit and and and it’s if this team, even with the additions of of of Logan, uh, Wilson and Quinn Williams and getting Rebel back and over back, it’s still going to be predicated on whether this offense can score or not. And you know what? That’s how are we media? Do we consider ourselves media? Yeah. Yeah, we are. We do. Yeah. That’s how we as media ruin coaches and players cuz we find No, no, no. Coaches ruin themselves. Coaches ruin themselves. We just help them out the door. Will we finally get like a coach in here that that’s got personality and he’s honest and he’s telling you what’s going on and we love it and we’re like, “Yeah, Shotti’s changing the culture and he’s doing this.” And then you start off and you’re having a bad year and then you’re honest about, “Yeah, I’ve been spending more time in the defensive room.” And then we start speculating and poking holes in and then he’s going to go I ain’t going to tell them nothing. Like I’m going to protect myself. I’m going to protect my guys and then we’re going to get coach speak. Yeah. Next year. So you and we do that with players, too. You get a you get a rookie in here and he’s all friendly and nice and he he’ll do anything you ask him to do and then and then the media chews him up and spits him out and he goes, I just won’t say anything. I’ll just be like, well, you know what? It was a total team effort and we played, you know, we’ll play anybody anywhere, the moon, the parking lot, whatever. Like, we just we can’t get out of our own way. Like, we want to hear the truth and then when we hear the truth, we we dissect it and you know and and close everybody up. So, you know what? You know what cancels all of that out? Winning. Winning. Yeah. You win, right? You win. Winning helps. Winning helps it all. winning because you only start to snoop and and and wrecky specky and try to piece things together and timelines and maps and what was this when you’re losing when things aren’t going well is when you begin your investigation of why when things are going great he can say that hey you know I was down there with Harry Hans half the week and you be like go back right we gave the players Thursday and Friday. You know what I’m saying? The next week again, right? Go back down there. You want you want us You want us to sponsor you when you go back? Whatever it is, winning changes all of those things. It’s in these moments when you’re losing and things aren’t looking good that now more eyes and ears and people begin to have these thoughts of why is this happening? Kurt, where do you want to go with this? Well, I’ve been kind of wondering that. So, we’ve talked about, you know, offensive line, we’re going to change things. We got these new players coming back offense. And as you said, this we’re here. This is the hard part of this game. This is the hard part of it. We all realistically know that this team probably isn’t going to make the playoffs. Um, given the start they already had. So, as we enter the last half of this season, what does success look like to you guys? What do they need to do to say, “Okay, they’re not in the playoffs, but maybe this identity is changing or they’re heading in the right direction.” That kind of thing. I’m sorry, Kurt. I I don’t live in the fantasy world of what s No, this this is not this is not Oh, I know. This is not at you. Yeah, I know. Um and some people may have a different answer. Some may be like, “Well, I need to see this, this, and this.” You don’t go to the playoffs. You don’t win. You didn’t have success. No, it is a it is an absolute failure. And I’m and this is and I don’t I don’t want to say what other people may think. This is coming from this athletes brain, the world that I come from. And to me, if the goal was set to win a championship and you at some point in time falter in that journey, you failed. Now there are lessons in failure. You can learn lessons in failure. You failed in my eyes because the goal was to go get a championship. And through that there are milestones that you get when you get there, right? Win our division, then you want to win the the the uh the conference and then you want to win the Super Bowl. And if they’re not even meeting the part where they win the division, how could anything else look like a success? So to me, there is no version of success if it if you don’t make the run to the playoffs. That’s just that’s just my like you you you this season has to end with you entering the playoffs to have that level of what did the season mean? Because the season will have that part in how we made the playoffs. Yeah. All right. That’s one of the goals that you you hit. Yeah. But well, I guess I’m Does the bar I mean I know as players the bar doesn’t lower, it’s always win. But as fans, are you saying, “Okay, we’re not making the playoffs, but I want to see I don’t know.” All right, let me rephrase that for you. Do you think Jimmy at the end of year one thought even though on the field it looked like chaos, right? Do you think he thought heading out of that first year we’re on the right track and next year as a first year coach you got to think like all right this is going to suck this first year but my point you don’t think so you don’t I I don’t I don’t I don’t think John Hman got here and thought this was going to suck. You think he thought we got the pieces in place I’m gonna make a run this year? I think so. Really? Yeah. Especially before the trades. Yeah, we won a we won a preseason game and Coach Johns was ecstatic and the next game we got beat down and that and that changed his whole mindset. Uh all he could look at was who I’m f to get rid of. You I’mma be here and you got to play for your life. He literally said that. So I’m with you Jess coaches coaches don’t never come with we making it. That’s that’s college. Okay. Nebraska just jumped up on us. We still No, I ain’t going to say that. They be calling you. We we’re not a very good team. So you know we we’re not on that level. So hey, let’s try to save our kids, you know, because they got to go play Oklahoma again next week. So let’s save ourselves. This this is the pros coaches. The coaches feel it, man. Coaches feel it. You You remember co two weeks ago when coach day ball or three weeks ago when that kid went into the uh tent to that tent and he wouldn’t leave that tent cuz he knew his life depended on it. Well, this kid went out again and he didn’t make it back this time because coach they ball gone. Yeah. Winning is the only thing. And then as much as I want to say, hey, I’m looking for this and I’m looking for that and but at the end of the day, Mr. John will be like, “Make me see what you see.” Because next year, yeah, it isn’t promised, right? Like next year, who’s to say that the the team Well, for sure the team won’t look the same next year. That’s no team looks the same cuz you going to draft guys, you going to sign guys in free agency, you going to cut guys. So what is it? 30% of your 30% of the 33% of the roster turns over every single year. So the team won’t look the same. the schedule won’t be the same, right? The teams that you play next year are going to be different than the team that you played this year outside of your core players, your your your your uh NFC East opponents. Everybody’s a season older. Everybody’s a season older, right? Everybody’s one play away from season ended injury, you know. So there there’s there’s you the the carryover for it all is is different. Yeah. Well, Dak will be here next year because contract says, but health don’t say that. You know what I mean? Like, well, how can you as a as a like to your point as a coach, you lose this against Vegas, it’s over, right? It’s probably mathematically over. It’s pretty over now. It’s pretty over because right now you got to go like seven and one, six and two. So, is that is is that the only way you can find success in the second half of this season? Is just got to run the table. run the table and you lose one game and that’s that’s success or like could you say you know what we fought hard and we started establishing an identity and our offensive line started jelling these guys we picked up from these other teams came in and the defense we can stop the run finally better we start to run better better yes it could that be viewed as success or those guys over there on that side of the building go no we didn’t make the playoffs that’s it that’s the player mentality right and the coach mentality is like we had one goal that was to do this and we didn’t do it. So, okay, they jailed. Whoopde-doo. Right. As fans, I think you just always want some kind of hope like, “Hey, we started looking better.” You know, you don’t want to just be like, “It’s it sucks. We lost to Vegas. We’re I don’t want to watch the games the rest of the year because Yeah. Because I mean, you you don’t make the you don’t make the playoffs and that jailing doesn’t matter. The jail goes away. We got a whole new off season. You know what I’m saying? Like so like it’s it’s as a fan it’s just too it’s too long to think okay it’s November the 11th and basically I’m going to have to wait until the middle of July next year to have meaningful football again. So as a fan you you cling on to something and go July August you mean September. Well just to get football back with hope it’s in July. Yeah, we ain’t had a meaningful preseason game. No, but I’m just talking about to get the new product on the field like this is to as a fan like you fans I think gauge it as like okay I want to watch the games on Sunday. Yeah. Therefore, I mean you can turn it into spoiler alert fan like you can just like we’re going to just ruin everybody else’s season. You know what I mean? Like Yeah. Well, I mean, as for players, isn’t that hard? Because if you’re, you know, you drop next two or three, you’re done. And but you still got a month of month and a half of games to play. As a player, the smart player going to play his players heart out. The guy that loves football going to play his heart out. The guy that was who he was, was that guy that didn’t care anyway. Ain’t nothing going to change him. That that that that’s the thing that we do know about football. It’s some guys that that got great talent, but you you know they don’t care. You be like when you when you go to work, you know, like, man, I got to work my behind off. This dude here don’t even care. He ain’t got to do that’s a feeling, bro. You talking about No, you ain’t never said nothing trueer than what you just said. Cuz I lived that. I lived that. Does that piss you off? Oh, it is so frustrating. And And to think, boy, you’ve been so blessed to even be at this level. Like, I’m working hard and I don’t even care. They don’t even care. Don’t give a damn. Don’t do and and he and and when when God was making his talent, he just just turned the bottle over like here. Talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent, talent. And you just like he don’t it nothing you can do. And knowing how good those guys could be if they just put half the effort in. Boy, I man, I I can I can give you 15 names right now of dudes who I’ve been on teams with. I’m just like that’s why Mike Irvin handed that list to Jimmy when he walked in. You like you are you just if you just put that much little bit of hustle behind that muscle you you would be and they’ll stick around for a couple years, five, six, seven years and they may get a contract but you just like it it’s one of the most frustrating things ever. But there’s also another group of guys where you lose to the Raiders on Monday. I need 47 more catches to get to my bonus. I need And then you get trouble because everybody starts doing their own thing, right? Yeah. I Oh, man. Shoot. I’m I’m three interceptions away from 500,000. I What do I need? I need I need I need I need to play this many game this many snaps. If I cuz I got to play 78% of the snaps for this bonus to click off. You know what I mean? Like and that’s where you coaches got to like hold it together. Right. That’s when things get a little bit I’ve also lived I’ve also been a part of some of those. I’ve also been some a part of some of those. When you get to four, five, six game left in the season, you start catch like hey man you could tell so and so to come get these cars man and take them back to the house. We go cuz we staying in Miami this off seasonason. They start cleaning out they start cleaning out they they they home and like we listen we we don’t stay here in offseason. We we go back to Houston. We go back to Miami. We go. I’m back in California. I’m in Arizona. People start coming to get that stuff about about a month away. Let’s just And I’m going tell you the ultimate killer. This is the ultimate killer. When you know a guy that gave it up and I said, “Yo, Jess, remember now late June I’m have my golf tournament. So, I’mma be I’m going be what? We we got three more G. I’m letting you know we got you be like, “Wow.” Yeah, when I when I got to the league, I didn’t know no better. I was just crazy and wild. Man, Nate, you do golf. Give me I need you like hold on. We got two more, man. Look at him, man. Them folk coming to get my my car next week. I mean, wow. Uh, let’s just win Monday. So, got to win Monday, please. We need I mean, selfishly, we need Cowboys. We need you to win. Yeah. So we can do this show and not How long did Nico last? Four years. Was he here? Four years. After he got rid of the big dog. How long did Nico last? Seven months. Yes. Yes. Eight months. You called it on our head. All right, fellas. Good stuff. Tomorrow. What are we doing? Cowboys offense. Some moves you can’t make, bro. Raiders defense. Yes. All right, let’s do that. Thank you for the ties. Beautiful. Good quality stuff. Next time, send my stuff to Chris. Send my stuff to Chris. Send it to Jess. Send it to me. I know them ties me for send it to Chris. Send it to me by way of the cowboy general post office box. Chris, thanks for keeping us on air. Josh, thanks for You just stole my ties. Be back tomorrow hanging with the boys. Yeah, five of them. It’s the difference between an ALL-Madden team a Real GM and an Owner who is strictly an owner
