    Dart needs to understand how important he is. No matter how many people tell him to play safe he needs to learn this and at the end of the day its on him.

    He’s having phenomenal rookie season but he needs to play smarter and safer.

  3. I see him standing up a bit or easing back even as he’s about to run into a tackle. Getting his head knocked around — it’s the sudden motion (or sudden stopping) that causes concussions (and neck injuries), not the impact force. He’s gotta learn to tuck the ball, lower his head and drive forward through the hit.

    Or he could slide. That works too.

  8. Both Dart and Dabol are at fault. Dabol for calling the running plays. Thats always been part of Dabs playbook. But he had Josh Allen in Buffalo who is a tank.

  9. He was spot on with his analysis. It’s a shame that he was right, I rather him not deal with concussions for such a young player. Please just SLIDE or run out of bounds.

  10. Such a fine line. Playing at 100% and playing recklessly. I agree with this but also I think about his dad tweeting about succumbing to the giants losing culture when talking about sliding. I don’t know, I hope he doesn’t lose that spark entirely.

  11. He was right, but still no way in hell I want him as HC.  A good sound bite doesn’t overcome the fact that he’s toxic as hell and been out of the league a long time. 

  12. While Daboll was extremely frustrating and had to go, this injury isn’t on him or the reckless nature of dart. It was sort of a freak accident cuz the play went well until dart didn’t see the defender running at him and he smacked his head in the ground when he got hit. Just sort of a rookie needing to have better vision. Other than that, he was taking care of himself sliding against Chicago. The bigger issue imo is how often they have to run him because the roster isn’t good enough to just line up and run/pass without nabers and skatt.

  13. He’s already starting to show signs of learning to take care of himself, he slid much more last game. It’s going to take time for him to learn to go against his instincts to run through everything, but right now he’s probably feeling like he has to do everything so he’s trying to force the issue and do too much. The positive is he seems to be taking this criticism seriously, so I think he’ll be better long term once he settles into the role more (and gets more help)… he can let skattebo be the battering ram next year

  14. Giants need to build a wall of good o-line guys. They have their two RB’s, they have their deep threat, now they need to build good depth on the oline.

  19. He doesn’t NEED to run so often. With Skat back next year, focus mostly on passing. Also, that makes his legs even more of a threat because you won’t know when its coming.

    How many of the greatest QBs were runners? Not many…he is a great passer with great vision.

    They don’t need to rely on his legs to win football games.

  20. This only makes me more concerned about Dart. If he’s all talk pre-Draft and still not implementing that advice into the season, his trajectory is going to end up like a RG3

  28. I feel a big part of this is Daboll coaching for his life. He wasn’t thinking long term and having him slide or stay in the pocket. He was in game-by-game mode fighting for his job and even throwing in designed run plays and not reigning in those option plays.

  30. Hearing Dart say “+2” gives me the feeling a previous coach of his is responsible for a lot of damaged adolescent brains.

  34. Blaming Daboll is easy. But I clearly remember the preseason game Dart got pulled out of and Devito threw a TD pass the next play. They showed coach in Darts face telling him to slide. Hes not playing college kids anymore, these are large freaks of nature who now all have on their “cant say the quiet part out loud” internal notes. If I hit this MF hard enough he’ll be taken out.

  35. That’s an excellent segment. Gruden firing off truth bombs and Dart catching and accepting them.
    Hopefully we’ll have fewer QB run calls now, he can save the heroics for when it actually matters and not scramble his brains.

  38. This is what a coach should be telling their rookie. And fucking ENFORCE IT!! The dumpster fire wasn’t looking so bad with dart playing, skat, and nabers, but now what? Skat and nabers injuries were unfortunate, but look at Dart! Completely negligent.

    At least pick the right moment to leave it all out there, like for a necessary 4th down conversion, or a rush to secure the W. Not on 2nd and long when your team is 2-7
