So we make these plaques – I think we nailed the Top 8 All Time – anybody have any thoughts?

  1. I feel like koosman and Beltran should be on here but I’m not sure who I would remove.

    Maybe degrom?

  2. I think this is fairly correct. I’m tempted to say Koosman over deGrom, but that’s just because I have the opposite of recency bias.

  3. There is no top 8 without Ed Kranepool. Period. Full stop. He is the embodiment of the Mets and deserves WAY more love than the fan base gives him. I LOVE Gary Carter and Keith Hernandez like members of my family, but neither of them belong on this list above Kranepool and I can also argue neither belong above Jerry Koosman.

  4. As far as greatness with the team, there are a lot of players who slot in above Carter, who had one great year, one very good year, and three bad years as a Met.

HoJo, Cleon, Beltran, Reyes (I want to say DV is disqualifying but wouldn’t that take out Straw).  Honestly, Lindor is already there.

As far as pitchers go, Koosman. But also, Sid Fernandez and Al Leiter aren’t too far behind.

  5. 1. Tom Seaver

    2. David Wright

    3. Mike Piazza

    4. Darryl Strawberry

    5. Keith Hernandez

    6. Jacob deGrom

    7. Dwight Gooden

    8. Carlos Beltran
