It sucks for both Arenado and the Cardinals that he blocked the Houston trade last year.
Ugh. 😑
I feel like this is not new? Maybe the Bloom quote.
This part is something fans need to keep in mind – Arenado, whom Bloom called a “Hall of Fame player,” is an eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner, but he hasn’t earned either of those honors the past two seasons. His options to be an everyday starting third baseman could be limited, as will be his suitors, league sources told ESPN.
Hope both sides can come to an outcome that works; sounds challenging.
Was so stoked when we traded for him, felt like another Matt Holiday with better defense.
I still fucking hate how 2023 ended. Could’ve been a story book ending with Nado and Goldy providing the thump.
I mean I like him and will be sad to see him go but with us entering a rebuild phase and him not being the player he used to be it makes to much sense for him to be traded
He came here to win and we have come nowhere close to that. I have loved him so much as a Cardinal, but I’m ready to move on.
Time for him to go… love him but he’s old and getting worse and worse at the plate. Time to make room for wetherholt. Cards won’t be competing for a few years… no need to pay him to just be here
I fucking hate that we didn’t accomplish anything during the Goldy/Arenado era.
That page is:
No matter where I play next year, cardinals will be paying my salary
If trading Nado means starting JJ at 3B, Donny at 2B, and keeping Winn at SS then cool. If it means a bunch of Gorman or Prieto/Fermin type players then I’d rather keep Nado. The drop in defense will be noticeable no matter what
