Falcons News: Atlanta Makes A Roster Move + MORE Evidence Of The Worst Offense In The NFL

The news just keeps on rolling in. Falcons fans, welcome into Falcons Today by Chat Sports. My name is Moose and on today’s show, we’re going to break down first, believe it or not, that the Atlanta Falcons signed a defensive lineman. Don’t worry, it’s not anybody that you need to know. They signed him to the practice squad, but we will talk about it anyway. And of course, the main topic of today’s show, more evidence of an inept offense from that guy, Zachary Robinson. You are no longer Zack or Z-Rob. You are Zachary. So, let’s talk about the transactions. My girl Taran, the Falcons signed defensive lineman Ben Style to the practice squad and released offensive lineman Raquin O’Neal and long snapper Zack Triner from the practice squad. Now, you could look at this and go, “Oh, let’s break down the Ben Style signing, but to be completely honest, I don’t see this guy ever really touching the field.” The only thing that this means is that Sam Roberts is going to miss a little bit more significant time. He did get uh carried off the field against the Indianapolis Colts with an ankle injury. And believe it or not, from what we’ve seen from this guy so far in 2025, I’m pretty impressed with the guy. I would keep him on this 53. Maybe not as a starting caliber defensive lineman, but definitely as a rotational piece because so far so good. 18 tackles, one for loss. I’d like to see that up a little bit higher. But his PFF grade is actually really, really good. 83 so far amongst qualifying Atlanta Falcons defensive linemen, which is, by the way, the very highest of any of the defensive linemen that we currently have. So, here’s what it also means to me as I look now at the deeper meaning behind the signing. Sam Roberts injury, the multitude of injuries the Falcons have had so far throughout the season. The offseason additions need to be heavy defensive line, whether that be in the draft or whether that be in free agency. There’s a couple of positions that we need to attack vigorously. Uh, one of them being defensive line, the other one being wide receiver, and then maybe another outside corner. But I do know this. Without Sam Roberts or on a limited snap count, at least if he does play, you’re going up against a very potent rushing attack this coming Sunday, the Carolina Panthers will relentlessly attack you on the ground. In fact, I would put the overunder on passing attempts for Bryce Young at about 18. He is not good. And with the Falcons blitzing scheme, I believe Dave Canales is going to look at that and go, “Yeah, we’re going to stay away from throwing the ball as much as we can.” So, this is going to be a 35 plus rushing attempt game from the Carolina Panthers. I truly believe that. Headlined and highlighted by Rico Dattle. And Rico D’s having one of those seasons where you’re just like, where did this come from? We didn’t see this on Dallas, but uh on Carolina kind of a second wind here. I don’t know if it’s sustainable for the rest of his career, but for the 2025 season, there’s no doubt that he has been excellent. And the Falcons, on the flip side of that, have been horrendous. They’re getting worse against the run. Now, granted, a good chunk of this was because you gave up 323 yards on the ground to the Indianapolis Colts. 244 of which, by the way, to Jonathan Taylor. The Falcons are now 29th in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. That’s awful. 146.4. There is a way to beat the Falcons. Just run the ball and bleed the clock because the odds are with the offense that Zack Robinson’s putting out there, they’re not going to score nearly enough that they need to to win the game. So, before I continue on with the rest of today’s episode, do me a favor and name a player you want to add to the Falcons defensive line. If it were me, honestly, and I know this might push a couple of people’s buttons, Christian Wilkins, why not? The dude is a stud. And once he gets fully healthy, I’m sure there is going to be a team that bites on him. I don’t care about the locker room weirdness at this point. Get somebody that can play, for the love of God, and then have the new coaching regime figure it out as they go along. Before I continue on with Zachary Robinson and his inept offense, do me a favor and download the prize picks app today. Because as the weather changes, the feeling of being right never gets old. First things first, before we break down Zachary’s offense, Nick Nash needs to be elevated. I am so tired of hearing and talking about the lack of weapons. You’ve got players that you have the opportunity to at least figure out if they can play. Did you know that Adam Thelen was one of those practice squad players for the Minnesota Vikings earlier on in his career? And then they elevated him and at one point he was leading the league in receptions and receiving yards. Now those days are far behind him cuz he’s old, but you get my point. Nick Nash has the opportunity as somebody who excelled in college to absolutely prove his worth. Chris Blair, we’ve already seen what he can do on this 53man roster. I just need them to be elevated. How bad could they possibly be if the Falcons are currently working out free agent wide receivers that in my opinion have no shot of ever sniffing the field. These guys are right there. Just do it. But here’s where the main emphasis of today’s video comes in. Dan Orlovski was talking a little bit about some underenter talk and I think playing under center is so good for young quarterbacks especially because it allows one major thing. Producer Reed that one thing is no but close. Play action. Play action is definitely the young quarterback’s best friend. And I want you to take a look at this real quick. The top five teams going under center this year, coincidentally, some of the top five teams in play action utilization are the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams, the Lions, the Bills, the Patriots, and the bottom five, look at who’s at number 32 at 6% under center, the Falcons, the Saints, Bengals, Chiefs, Commanders, and the Dirty Birds. I’m sure you’re wondering, why is this significant, Moose? Well, let’s uh let’s go through it. What do the heavy play action and under center teams have in common? Seven and two. Seven and two. Six and three. Six and three. Oh, eight and two. Oh, look at that. Every single one of these teams has a winning record and is currently in playoff contention. What’s the opposite? The flip side. Well, I’m glad you asked. The light play action teams, aka the light under center teams. The Saints 2 and eights. The Bengals 3 and six. The Chiefs, okay, they’re having a down year. The Commanders, okay, maybe no Jaden Daniels, but still kind of indicative of why their offense is gimmicky. And then the Falcons, oh yeah, every single one of these teams, minus the Chiefs, are completely out of it. The writing’s on the wall. It’s not a coincidence that Zack Robbins, excuse me, not Zack, Zachary Robinson’s offense is this inept because it’s predictable. If you can’t utilize play action, teams will ultimately figure out what you’re doing. If you can’t go under center like a traditional NFL offense, teams will know what you’re doing. There’s a reason that teams in college run primarily a shotgun formation because running under center is a lot more difficult. It requires the best players. Well, guess what? News flash. You’re playing with the best players. This is one of the most talented players in the league and you can’t utilize play action with Bejian Robinson. Are you high? I mean, it is it is ultimately just malpractice of this offense. It’s malpractice of this team. And believe it or not, I’ll say it again, they need to go. Darnell Mooney also sounded off about uh this team’s offense. And this is all he really had to say here was we have to figure out something and let the chips fall where they may. Well, I’m not entirely sure what that means, Darnell. But, uh, you’re also not a part of the solution. You’ve been just as bad. I’m willing to give you a slight pass because of the injuries, but you dropped two balls against the Colts. That has nothing to do with your injuries. Catch the football. And also, Michael Penn Jr., I know there were a lot of people in my most recent short that were like, “Moose, you can’t cherrypick stats.” Well, this is not a cherry-picking stat. This is just straight up quarterback efficiency. Weeks 1 through 10. Here’s the list. Notice where is Michael Pennix Jr. towards the bottom half. In he’s not as bad as Dylan Gabriel, Cam Morty, JJ McCarthy, or even Trevor Lawrence. That’s great. But, uh, he’s worse than pretty much everybody else. Period. I mean, it’s it’s it’s not good. Sam Darnold, Drake May, Jared G., Look at all the teams that have winning records and their quarterbacks correspondingly play great. Pennix has to figure it out. Again, remember the marriage between the two sucks. It can’t just be on one person. It takes two people to split. Correspondingly, what? Oh, yes, of course. And and this is this is exactly what we’re talking about. Thank you, Producer Reed, for uh for bringing these up. Correspondingly, as producer Reed said, all of these teams that are this good are high on this list. Sam Darnold, Drake May, Jared Goff, Jordan Love, Lamar Jackson, Jaylen Herz, Allen, Stafford, every single one of them is towards the top right here. I mean, it’s no coincidence that being under center and running play action is a designed schemed play. Zack doesn’t have this designed scheme play. This is not play action. That’s a goofball move. And I can’t blame it all on Michael Penn and I can’t blame it all on Zack Robinson. At some point though, somebody’s got to go and it’s not Pennix. You invested too much. So, we’re all waiting for it. We’re just waiting for the news. At this point at during the season, you know where I stand. I won’t continue to beat a dead horse, but you might see some gear on Moose sooner rather than later. That kind of uh illustrates what he wants to see happen. Producer Reed knows what I’m talking about. That’s why he’s smiling. That’s going to do it for us on today’s episode. A reminder to hit that sub button. I’ll see you tomorrow. Falcons fans, rise up and be cool.

  1. Falcons average score in 2025 is 18.7 points per game. You hit the nail on the head regarding being under the center, is the problem MPJ's mobility? Football IQ?Is it possible the OC is doing what he can based on the caliber player? I doubt it, but MPJ has not been afforded enough opportunity to show his abilities, so how can we be sure he is capable? If I were MPJ and I am confident I can do more, I would be asking to do more. Wouldn't anyone at this level?

  2. 🫎Wut up Moose🫎….what do you think about hiring BRUCE AIRANS as Falcons head coach….I think that would be a great fit for the DIRTY BIRDS….OFFENCE MINDED COACH….PARIED WITH JEFF OBRICK DEFENSIVE STAFF….CULTURE FIT AS WELL-may cost 5 rounder to get him from tampa

  3. Tbh… There's not a coach I want. I'm sick of them all. I feel like 99.9% of them are frauds and are put into those spots bc of who they know. Meanwhile there's someone out here on a couch that can win a championship. Some of the best are the ones that never attempted to even do it. That's a fact with anything. I'm over all these coaches. They're a rinse and repeat of the same nonsense play calling. Too systemic and that's why they're easy to predict. Ppl at home can predict what's next. We need some new electric minds that think outside of the box and you'll never get that from ppl who've been in that box their whole career. They're too alike.

  4. Desmond Watson he’s 400 pounds was pretty good In college and doesn’t cost much and Isaiah Simmons so we have a athletic linebacker who can do it all since we have no depth at the position

  5. Penix is a bum and there's no fixing this. My question to the Falcons fanbase is why do we need to see Penix with another coaching staff when he is clearly not a starting quarterback in the league. He’s going to be 26 going into his 3rd season, there’s no untapped potential or hidden talent. He’s just not that good

You traded a 1st round pick thinking that this guy is going to lead you to playoffs and that shit is going to be top 10. He says in training camp “I’m not missing on gameday” and misses every fucking throw

Media team does this whole thing with him and Vick. He trained with Matt Ryan in the offseason. This guy was looked as the next face of the franchise and he hasn’t done a fucking thing to warrant all of that shit in July.

  6. Woke up last Sunday, had some tasty breakfast then flipped around to see when falcons came on. Finally noticed they had already played. In Germany. An OT game. I was jealous. All the Atlanta players were either sleeping or (most) were enjoying the Red Light District. Admittedly not as awesome as Amsterdam's but still fun non the less.

  7. exactly… How do you not run Play action with 2 great running backs? And even further, why not go old school and put Bijan and Tyler in the I , take some pressure off of Penix, especially considering we don’t have three capable wide receivers anyway…Zach SUCKS!!!
