little to get the jump on you guys tonight. Uh yeah, I thought we I mean obviously we were in the box a little bit in in the first there and it kind of came behind uh and it’s I mean especially here in Boston um it’s hard to uh to uh play that way but uh I thought we pushed and we tried uh and uh yeah just uh stuck up for each other in the third and um had some good looks to to kind of get back in the game. How difficult is it to to get through when you have guys like Austin and Solar’s hopefully beginning here? Yeah, it’s tough. Obviously, it’s two guys that we want in the lineup. Uh gives us a better chance to win, but at the same time, I think uh it’s the next man up and and uh somebody has to to fill that that hole and and and step up and uh we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. What did you think of the Zidora hit on Austin? Uh I didn’t I didn’t see it. Uh, so I can’t comment on that, but kind of like the the response uh in the third uh kind of letting them know that we’re not going to take that stuff if he’s out for a bit of time like just how challenging will that be for you guys like already downtown. Yeah, I don’t want to comment on on something that we we don’t know yet. Uh so uh I will leave that for somebody uh that have a little bit more uh um with that. So, I can’t I don’t want to comment on that, but another five go in tonight, but you mentioned the penalties and the penalty kill obviously part of that. Like, how do you feel just in general about the defensive play tonight? A little bit better. Um, but uh I think still think that we can play better. Uh still think that we we have to defend uh as a unit of five and and uh kind of take that uh consider first and then we know that we’re going to score goals. just uh got to defend and get back to that uh mentality uh and um go from there. But yeah, I like their push back tonight. Biggest thing you have, you know, I think uh despite the outcome, I think every guy in here battled on third period and um it’s all you can really ask. Obviously, uh a lot of penalties early and uh that’s it’s a good power play over there. It’s a good hockey team and um we finished the way we wanted to finish and just got to follow on that. As far as the start was concerned, defensively kind of favored went about to improve upon those I think we as a whole we wanted to improve everywhere. Every guy wanted to just give a little bit more. Um and and like I said, we we finished the right way and um we got to build on that for sure and take the positives out of it. What you think of Cesar on Austin? I mean, listen, I I’m not going to comment too much on that stuff. that’s it all stays in the glass out there, but um you don’t want to see anyone go down and especially maybe the captain and um guys that mean a lot to our team get injured like that. So um you just got to stick together and stand in there and like I said, I think we did a good good job of that as a whole period. What was your perspective on the penalty in that which your penalty uh Well, I mean, listen, it’s part of the game. um you don’t want to go to the box in pure period, but at the same time we’re we’re not going to take a step back and um it’s like I said part of the game. So we finished the way we wanted to finish and um I think we just got to build on it. Do you feel as though your group kind of showed a little bit more push in the third? Not I don’t just absolutely with the the play but also uh you know not not taking anything and kind of push back a bit. 100%. We’re not going to take a step back to anyone. Um, no one in this locker room is and and we showed that tonight. Um, I think you do got to give Boston credit. They they played well and they capitalized on their opportunities, but uh, like I keep saying, we we finished the way we wanted to finish and we just got to focus on that. Tan, Len, now Austin and Anthony, like how would you describe the challenge with the injuries right now? Um, it’s adversity for sure and I think as a group, every guy in here is is is chomping at the bin. Everyone wants an opportunity and and here’s our opportunity. Everyone’s got to step up next man up mentality and um we’re not going to focus on anything other than the next game and the task at hand and everyone’s got to bring their best and um every game from here on out is is like a playoff game and and we’re going to need that kind of intensity day in day out and um okay the third period we we showed that and got a lot of hunger and a lot of grit and we play like that. We’re we’re a good team. We’re a tough team to beat so let’s focus on that. Assess this one on the team’s performance tonight. thought we battled pretty hard. Um maybe just didn’t execute on some of our opportunities to be honest. Obviously we have to keep the do a better job still keeping the puck out of our net, but uh I thought we had uh decent amount of looks that um you know we were able to capitalize or finish some plays off. You know I think uh we’re right there in the game. Obviously, uh, especially early, we got to we got to stay out of the box and find a way to generate momentum ourselves and and not put our put ourselves behind, uh, like we did and be in a hole, have to battle back, but I thought we competed right to the end. Uh, stuck together and, you know, almost almost able to tie it up. What was your perspective on Zorov’s hit on Austin? Uh, yeah, I I I saw it quick. Um I mean obviously all Poppy’s got his back uh facing the play. So you don’t like seeing anyone get down the numbers and um you know obviously uh especially our leader and you know obviously one of the best players in the game and our best player. We don’t want uh don’t want any liberties taken. So that guy’s uh did a good job sticking together. Obviously we didn’t like the head. Just in general your thoughts on how the team kind of pushed back down the stretch in this game. What you can build off of from that? Yeah, I mean obviously uh some adversity here for us and we just got to continue to stick together and fight through it. And the only way is uh is to keep working and keep competing and um continue to find our way uh you know through the challenge of things uh not going our way here over the last few games and and uh building our game and you know turning the tide where some uh some good things start to happen our way. Get some breaks uh earn some more of the power play opportunities, things like that. So, um, got to stick with it right to the end. And, you know, obviously, uh, fifth one was a tough one. We were able to get good within one. Uh, quite a bit of time still left, but, uh, yeah, I think, uh, a lot of the things we did throughout the night, uh, some positives to take, but, obviously, no doubt we got to we got to work our way through it. Um, you know, we could probably come to penalties early on, but I wonder what the difference was early versus late. Um, I think it was just a little bit of our pock play, uh, execution, stuff like that. Um, it was a little bit sloppy at the start and they capitalized on it. Um, they were they’re ready to play and in their building and, um, yeah, they put a couple in on us. What did you think of this drive hit on Austin? Uh, yeah, I didn’t really, uh, see it. I just kind of saw us down. Um, looked like just the trajectory was a little bit maybe behind or something. Uh, but I don’t know. Uh, um, never want to see um Austin down like that. So, uh, definitely definitely don’t like it. Austin, Anthony, Chris, and and Scott already out. How would you describe the challenge for the group right now with all those injuries? Uh, yeah, there’s, uh, a lot of good bodies on this team, a lot of good players, um, guys that can step up. Uh, sometimes that that bug will hit you at some point during the season. Um, and you always got to be ready for it. You always got to have guys that uh can step into roles and be players. How do you feel about the team’s defensive play tonight? Uh I mean I I think we’re we’re competing hard. Um and I think it just came down to execution um of making plays. Uh and then when when that isn’t there, you you get scrambly a little bit. Um you get miscues and then um sometimes the the puck ends up in. But I feel like guys were competing hard and um didn’t hate the effort. your physicality and your uh your production have have ticked up here of late. Did you see a connection between the two? Like do you feel more engaged? Um you know more able to maybe produce when you’re more engaged like that. Uh I think that yeah they they do come hand in hand. Um I mean I’m always trying to be physical, always trying to have an impact whenever I’m not scoring or not um necessarily producing as much but yeah there’s there’s definitely correlation. You kind of create space out there, create more ice. Um, sometimes you create separation, get pen back, that sort of thing. What do you think of the team’s push back in general tonight? Kind of got chippier down the stretch. Yeah, I liked it from our guys. Um, I think everybody was kind of contributing, trying to send a message that we’re we’re not a team that’s going to ever back down from um from anyone. So, I think I liked it. I like to compete. I liked how hard guys are pushing and how much guys wanted to make an impact on the game. the difference was between what happened the way your team was going early versus the results or maybe that push back. Well, we took three penalties. Um first period got behind the eightball. Um I thought this, you know, the second and third we competed hard and battled hard, you know, stuck up for each other. Uh did a lot of good things. Um we just we just we needed some kills tonight. We didn’t get them. What do you think of the group defensively? That’s been a stress point for you lately. Um you know, there’s still things we can clean up that uh but at least we were more aggressive and more physical in our defending, more competitive in our defending. Now there’s you know there’s a couple plays there where that’s just reads better reads on a couple plays. um the passion that goal there we got the break point and um a couple other ones where he he got behind us a couple times. So those are reads for me but like I said you know the team I thought they uh responded and competed hard. What did you think of this door hit on Austin? I think it’s a penalty personally but I’m not the referee. I don’t like it. I don’t like the head ball position so whatever. I mean, nothing I can do about it. Tomorrow, we’ll see tomorrow more than I I mean, right now it’s lower body. We’ll just see tomorrow how he is. Does it seem serious or um I don’t know exactly. I really can’t give you guys a timeline or how serious it is right now. So, um and I’m not sure when he heard it to be honest with you. How about Anthony? He’s also I don’t believe that’s serious. Um, I think you’ll be fine. How did that happen, Anthony? I think it was a play that happened in the first period there. Um, kind of like a battle at the net and he kind of got got a little bit stretched out. Something something in the upper. Do you think you’ll be okay for Thursday? Do I right now? I hope so. We’ll see. I mean, you know, we’ll see. You mentioned you like a lot of the push back tonight. Like Yeah. What’s it going to take for for the group you need to to stamp the the skin here? I think you know you’re you we’re going through some obviously some adversity right now but you know I think I liked our response tonight in the game which goes a long way. That’s for me that’s um you know playing team hockey and sticking up for your team and and competing for your team. Um, you know, like like I said, we clean a few things up. Uh, you can’t go to the penalty box that much in a game. It’s going to burn you eventually. We got to be more disciplined there, especially early on in that game. And they those are penalties. So, um, you know, it’s just sometimes you got to go through a tough spell and we are right now. Uh, you know, and I like the way we pulled it together as a group tonight in the game. That’s a positive for me. So, um you know, we’ll see. We’re just going to keep battling and and getting better and, you know, keep helping these guys out and get some confidence back in our game. You know, I think we lacked a little confidence early in the game. Um but when we got down, we uh we played we played like we can. What do you think of Doy’s penalty at the end? I don’t know why he called it. I don’t know why he gave Doni the roughing on it to be honest with you cuz I was watching the referee. He didn’t have his hand up or nothing, his arm up. I mean, so I thought it was just going to be, you know, five each for fighting. But um he thought that uh he did a little more than the other guy.

Every time one of our guys gets hit dirty it’s the same old bs comment. “I didn’t see it”. These guys just never see anything. That’s why they don’t have each others back. Makes sense now.
PK gave up 3, not good. The D is slow, soft and can't break the puck out. Could/should be sellers at the deadline for the first time in a decade. Might be time to recoup draft picks and retool over the summer.
Work on breaking out of your own zone, get masterful at that and maybe this team has a chance.
Need to work on our zone entry’s.
This team should absolutely be ashamed of themselves and deserve all the criticism they get.
A couple years ago I would've been livid after a game like this but these guys clearly dont give a fuck so why should I?
Like WOW yet another meltdown in Boston its only the millionth time, find a new gimmick guys.
They could of easily lost by 5 tonight they sucked
Fire Derek Lalonde, his systems are making you look like the utter failures that his red wings team was.
If that doesn't work, rebuild. If what we are seeing is not a systems problem but a motivation problem, then these players are simply not built to compete in this league and it's time to move on.
Ask them how come they give up so many breakdowns
Needless, careless penalties by some guys giving Boston PP chances & they scored on 3 of them. You can't take dumb penalties & 4 of them were exactly that. Zadorov is a dirty player. How that shoulder to the head of Laughton comes to nothing is hard to believe. Then he drives Matthews from behind head first into the boards in this game & nada. Is the NHL serious about protecting their star players? It sure looks like they're not & I don't know why. I like McCabe a lot, but that's the 2nd game in row that he has made a bad turnover in the D-zone. Stolarz bailed him out tonight, but the one with 3 mins left in the 3rd vs Carolina cost the Leafs that game, no question. Oddly a game they had no business winning. That's now 5 stoppable goals allowed by Stolarz in 2 games.
Is there really music playing in the background locker room? What are these clowns celebrating.
Liked what I heard from Domi. This is adversity. Leafs need to get meaner. We need a guy like Reavo.
Let's go boys. Find your path to success. You'll have to push ego aside and play for team. It's the only way.
Derek Lalonde might be the worst defensive coach in the entire league. He needs to be fired immediately. Berube is not the problem
I think we leaf fans were blessed to see such young stars have career seasons with hope of going deep into the playoffs the last 6-7 years, I think that time has ended as these young talented players are now men who can’t seem to be real leaders on the ice…I have no reason to believe this is a playoff team anymore…too many better teams out ther who will earn their spots.
this. team. deserves. BABCOCK. Round 2.
Could these questions be any softer? Good god!
Rebuild
There's always next year
Do you seriously give a f vout watching them Thursday. This team stinks
Stolarz injured . Again.
' I liked their response tonight'. If that' s Berube's s receipt for success, Leafs have a long road ahead. Longer than last year.
Zero chemistry on the ice! Consistently outworked! The goalies have zero chance! Just terrible! Not sure where it all went wrong but I think this is the year they very desrvingly miss the playoffs!
Domi what were you thinking, team gets a little life off the 2 goals and you take a penalty that looked like there was no reason to take. The whole team needs to complete passes to each other not the team.
This has been some very difficult hockey to watch. Really hoping they can get it together before drastic changes are made by upper management.
Stolarz getting hurt isnt necessarily a bad thing. Its not like he stops the puck and he gave up 2 really soft goals yet again tonight. He is not a number one goalie and that is very evident
No grit, terrible defensive. Willie Bystander and Macelli 2 hits each all season. Score all the goals you want , it better be one more than the opposition.
Auston's injured for now, I already know who's in charge of leading during the next game, let's go JT, give us goal #504 and more!
It's not Babcock, Keefe or Berube. If you think it is you are a clown. Every player that leaves the Leafs organization flourishes when they leave. The coaches are great before or after the are with Toronto. Matthews is a huge problem. It's obvious he does not want to play Berube's system. He as a captain should be motivating and getting the players involved and buying into the system. He is NO captain. He motivates nobody. He is dead inside and it shows. Toronto ran the wrong guy out of town. Now they are are stuck with biggest primadonna in the league #34. Stolarz has always been a backup. His new contract is backup money. If I were Stolarz I would be on the phone with my agent.
Not good enough
Pathetic and Max use your brain for once, next time instead of costing us the game, go after their best player as retribution, use your brain for once, terrible team just fed up with this crap
Refs were terrible and biased against Toronto and let lot's of Bruin non-calls. Larssson had a big game and McMann too. Big sized players need to be playing bigger…Joshua hello, Carlo hello. Benoit get tougher u lost a few steps there compared to last year. Myers shoot more and lets see you get more tougher u played for Philley play Philley type toughness. Fight once in awhile too. Roy don't back down u should of fought tonight. Maybe call up Benning? Or Boyd?
Sounds like the leafs are having a good time in the locker room they don’t care
oh no Stolarz ego got hurt again
Wow. Sad game to watch. Hope the boys pull it together before management does something stupid.
with Matthews out now, just watch the others rise to the challenge just like in the past.
