chain in to help and Chuck Powers leaves it for Laf Fontaine. Works it over the go. He scores. Alexander Moi, what a beautiful play. Dave Andrew does a sensational job as he goes down the left side and then on into the Quebec zone. And he’s the reason why that guy ties the score. I can remember when first broke in playing with She bears as she get back to the east scores. [Applause] Talk about a rocket. The explosive power of the Buffalo Shakers, the explosive scoring power. I think though may have distracted or screened Hexog, but a marvelous wrist shot by Giln watch right here will go down. I don’t think Hexile saw that, but you should not score on the short side from that position. Digs it back. McGilly scores. [Applause] [Music] Gil on a backhand. Can be difficult for a goalie. You’re expecting a backhand normally to go high. Mildy keeps it right on the ice in full stride. A lost art for a lot of players now. He just finds the far side. Sedorovich might have lost his angle a little bit on that play. Very difficult for a goalender to come in at this time of a hockey game. Fontaine scoops it up. Got with him scores. Oh, you can’t get any prettier than that. Boy, was that beautiful. Alexander McGillni has been knocking at the door all night and he finally gets a goal after a marvelous play by La Fontaine. Look at this. He doesn’t know what to do back there again. He’s a a forward back in the defensive position. And Mo has no chance as the play is executed perfectly by the Buffalo Sabres. It’s 6-2 Sabres. Mgildy right in front Alexander Bogildy and we have a tie game. Well, that play started back on a face off in the Buffalo zone. A very poor point shot and the Sabres broke out of their own zone. And watch the play, if we have it on the replay, that Brad May makes on this and that enabled McGill to pick up the puck and skate to the front of the net. Now watch right here. Now watch May pursue the puck, make a great play, give it to McGill. And McGill had an option to pass it to La Fontaine. And that’s what Healey thought he was going to do. I think here comes La. score. Protect the pass. Slips it in and Buffalo has tied it up here at 5 minutes and 54 seconds. The goal scored by Alexander Mild. Off to Dave Andrachuk from the left wing. Ranked wide pass over Alexander McGilly. Skating in. Scores. Alexander McGilly between the legs of Dominic Rel. And the score is tied at one. Great play by Andrachuk. And right through the legs for Mildy. Centering pass by Pasloski. Picked up by Corky. Pass to Mcgilly. Right at the line. Scores. Alexander Mildy. What a play by Bob Corkum. Oh, it sure was a great pass by Corkum. Mogilli got way in behind the Philadelphia defense and this puck is perfect. But what is impressive, look how Melni Well, we’re not going to see the pass on this angle, but there’s the shot that goes between the legs of Dominic Rousell. Look at this pass though. And look how the players are lined up. They’re almost even with each other. McGilly stuck his stick out to the right side and Cork put the pass right on his stick. What a beautiful play that was. couldn’t get set up in time. Schmemelly slow shot scores Richard and I believe the tip in will go to McGillni [Applause] left [Applause] Alexander Moil and after being scoreless in two games. Back on the board now. That’s for the highlight, Phil. This baby. Great speed by Mo Gil through the neutral zone. And watch the Bruins try to check him right here. It’s a mismatch as he scoops between the two Boston defensemen and slides the puck between the legs of Andy Mo. Boy, he made a sensational move on Murphy, the Boston defenseman, and then put the puck into the net. What a an outstanding individual effort by Alexander McGilly and the Savers lead one- nothing. [Applause] from a quiet play in the Saber zone. Burns out fiery goal two of the evening. Dale Howard makes a great pass in the neutral zone to send away Pataine. And right here, Bour gets a piece of this puck and it’s fortunate for Noilme because it drops down where he is able to pick it up. If Bour lets this go, Mcgill would have never reached it. And again, he beats Andy mode between the legs. Watch this pass in the neutral zone as Howard starts it. Look at this beautiful play to La Fontaine. And that’s what got Buffalo going. La Fontaine beats Roberts and feeds Gilme. Alex has his second of the night. Gil from the right wing takes it on. [Music] Goal for Alexander Oil. Andy Mo went to the bench. Moild got side of the open 6×4 net. Gildy and the connection is made. Mgildy scores. Alexander McGillny and the play generated by Duck Bodger. A perfect pass from Bodger and Mildy cruises in goes between the legs of Andy Mo. Look at this pass by Bodger. He’s looking all the way. And look how he made certain that he was across the blue line right here. McGillney looking and firing the puck between the legs of Andy Mo. What a perfect pass though from Doug Bodger. Was that a beauty? And McGillney puck actually maybe tipped off the stick and then went between the legs of the Boston Goender. And McGillney putting Buffalo ahead by 3-2 with 1209 to play here in the third period. sends it right back to McGillnney left side of the net. Scores. Power play goal for the Sabres. And it’s a Alexander McGillny in front and I believe Jim Loren Lontaine got a piece of it as well. Buffalo that time got good position in front of the Montreal goalender. McGilly let the wrist shot go. There’s Brad May fighting to get in position. I think that puck went right in by La Fontaine as it went between the legs of Patrick Wah. But you see Mcgilly taking the shot between the legs of Lyall Odeline and Patrick Wah is back in the net. A little too far on this play also. And Buffalo scores their second of the night. [Music] McGilly finds net and the Sabres lead it 12 to nothing. And the Washington defense gets all mixed up on this goal as Hatcher puts the puck around the boards and you saw how it bounced off the glass and this is an unfortunate break for the Capitals and it went right to McGill. But look at Brad May standing in front of the goalender and the quick release by Moil. scores. [Applause] Greg Mayers go up two to nothing. His second of the night and 27. [Applause] as putting on a great offensive show here tonight as he scores three consecutive goals here in the second period. His fifth NHL match up, his second against the Capitals. And this is a beauty. Another quick shot that pinches inside the goal post right pass that time by getting in position and cleanly beat on his left side where the defense just backs off and 19 comes through the neutral zone. Boy, oh boy. Now it’s McGill with three consecutive goals to put on a three nothing lead. Sabres with 23 shots on goal in this game as Schmemell finds Mild Scorley [Applause] finally finds that lock on Kane crisscrossing again. Alexander Mild. I can’t believe how this guy shoots a puck. My goodness. Watch the water bottle pop off the net. This thing is in and out so quick as McGilly and Lontain crisscross. Look at the defense. And we talk about them backing up. And look at this shot. Holy mackerel. Just a pure wrist shot again by Moilme. And the Sabres are back in this game with 751 to play. Watch this rocket as he uses a defenseman as his smite. I can’t believe he shoots a puck that hard from Arishia. I’ve never seen anyone shoot the puck that hard as two. There’s one for now. Alexander McGill to the left of Van Beastbrook scores his 31st of the season. Alex McGill as he’s going to pick up the loose puck right here. Come to the front of the net. And again, Van Beastbrook is not ready. You would think that a goender in this situation, he tried to stick check and then he got caught in the middle. to control from the corner by low kept in by 5 seconds left in the letting it go back to the right power shots it back. What a show McGill is putting on. The power of the Rangers 57 rebound Alexander Mild. Oh boy. Book shot it right in his own net. He shot it right in his net. And McGillni gets credit for his sixth NHL hattick. Now McGilly is being cut off as he has to shoot the puck. And right here shoots it in off the goal post. And again, the Sombrero and hats come onto the ice. Same location where Peter was injured in that Washington game. be a day and a go continues and a strong play by Brad May the punter as two St. Louis players attempt to take Brad May out of the play but he gets the puck back to La Fontaine. There are the two players now. Right here, Laf Fontaine puts it onto McGillney stick perfectly. The Blues cannot check Mcgilly and he finds the open corner and the goalc scoring streak continues. He now has scored in eight consecutive games. Here we go with Curry at three. Mild to the middle table and he scores. [Applause] How do you like that? Valar gets a piece of this shot by Moiln, but the puck carries into the net right off the opening face off 8 seconds into the period. McGilly has his second of the night. A simple drop pass from Lon. Nobody picks up Mgily and a Bear slows it down, but it’s not enough. The puck carries to the back of the net and the Sabres take the lead by 4-3. [Music] Well, you can’t leave McGilly that open when he’s on a roll like he is. It up along the way and a volunteeris [Applause] just outside the Islander line. Moild scores. [Applause] Need we say more guilty with the scores. Oh, you never can tell. Number 40 for McGillni as he flips the puck up in the air. Watch McGilly now. He slows down. He’s looking around, but look at the defense back off again. And there’s that wrist shot catching inside the goal post, but you can’t give McGilly this much room. We keep saying it and saying it, but he will just tear you apart. Look at this shot. Now he’s looking to the left and he shoots the puck just inside the goal post. Sutton giving it back over to McGilly with a shot. Scores. What a play by McGilly. And what a shot. And goal number 47 by Alexander McGillni. Well, he has been sensational here in the first period so far tonight by Buffalo. Watch McGilly with the quickness as right here. lets the quick shot go and fools the goalender. Rosel McGilli has had three or four good scoring chances. That puck may have glanced off the defenseman. Yes. Here’s the shot right here that eludes Rel and Mildy now has 47 on the season. center combined scores. [Applause] We talked about the magic goal number 48 for Alexander Mgildy. We are tied at three. Lontain letting it go for Mildy. There again in front. The magic 49. He’s got 49. What a great play again. Lonte getting the puck to Moilme. And Moilme uses his quickness to get in position to score. Here’s the pinch along the board by Las. Look at Moil use his body to shield off Paul Bruntton. Oh my goodness. We are watching an emerging superstar, folks. Font and Jansen’s off the draw. Sutton finds it in behind. Burke pulls it up. Zowski hurried by May with the steal. The shot score. Body he had it. And the officials talk it over. They’re going to review this, but this will be the 50th goal for Alexander McGilly in the stage. We cannot see it from up here. Let’s take a look at it right now. B. Wow. It’s It’s 28 seconds left. What a shot. The magic continues and McGildnney with two tonight and the Sabres take a 2-1 lead in attendance at the game and watch Grant Cure during the national anthem. Talk about a guy rocking back and forth. John Muckler said he rocks back and forth like that. They go score Veli. Wow. La Fontaine had it for a moment but Mel captured it off his back. Intercepted by Mel Fontain coming in on the he [Music] one goal away from the tying the franchise record of 56. Oh what a beauty again. But does this guy ever score an ugly goal? But this Buffalo stands up on their blue line and they get a turnover and look at the speed. Boiling just barrels to the net, never stops skating until he’s in a position that he knows he’s beaten the man. And then he puts a stick on the ice, glides to the corner. And look at this pass. This is absolute perfection. And the Sabres get their second of the night through the skate blades of Jagger. Right to the line as Stevens couldn’t hang on racing. He could tie the franchise record. He goes there. It is number 56 for Alexander. It’s been a long time coming. The 197980 season, Danny G scored 56 to set the franchise record. And now Alexander McGilly has tied that mark. An empty goal and Mgildy showcases it. The icing has been waved off the number one line for the Shamers out now. [Music] It didn’t take much time there and the new record holder for the most goals in one season for a Buffalo Saber, Alexander Mildy. And the hats fly out on the ice already as Mildy just drilled it right in at the 103 mark. Let’s take a look at it. Top of the slot. A rare slap shot and Shuttle Bay had no chance again with La Fontaine leading it and Mild just drilling that his own corner. A left wing pass to Lontain. Wait. Oh my. The magic of moility is back. How do you like this crisscross? And the Red Wings don’t react to the speed and quickness. And here it is right here. Lock touched to the middle and you saw the defenseman go for it. The other Detroit defense tried to cover, but the puck’s in the net before the goalender or the defenseman can make the right move. Gilly from the left wing push. [Music] Another another natural hattick for Alexander Mgildy. Seventh hattick of the season. Jason on with Eiserman working it to the savers line. Kimv and Schmemellik in pursuit. Nice play by the tandem. And here’s Dave Hannon from the top of the slot firing. Chevel getting a piece of it. Gilby reversal position score 1 2 3 four will go tonight four goals in Winnipeg. He has four goals here tonight. He takes the puck behind the net and then cuts quickly to the front. His 60th goal. his second four game goal of the season. And the crowd is on their feet here at the AR. Got a piece of it. Has it hit his mask. Mildy top of the slot to Himalaying Lonte. Mgildy scores. Power play for the Sabres and goal 61 for Mildy. And the one-time beats Patrick Wah between his legs. off on scoots it right over to him. Houruck shooting the puck blocked by Keane and that one’s got to sting. He’s trying to skate it off. Stays out on the ice. Bodger back over to L Fontaine. Mildy blasting scores Melny. Seven to four Montreal. Beautiful shot by Alexander McGillni as Laf Fontaine again takes the puck so quickly to the outside and then drops it back to Moilny. And I talked about the timing between these two players is so perfect. That’s a record for Lafantine. A team record as he surpasses Jilber Perau for the most points ever by a Buffalo Shaber. And Alexander Mcgilly collected the puck for him. Look at this timing. Just a beautiful soft pass to McGillney and he drills it between the legs of Patrick Wah. Check that on the starting goalender for Hartford, Mario Goslin in his second game as Alexander Mcgildy nets the goal. 68th of the season right off the bat here in the opening minute of play. What a great play by Mgilli and this line of Patlaf Fontaine. Alexander Mgilme just came out storming here this afternoon. This is just speed and out working and out skating the defenseman and Gosselin’s got to make the save as that puck was backhanded into the corner. Furer clears it. Lead pass intended for Moildy. He’ll go after it and straight out takes the shot. Scores. Moildy [Applause] caught Curtis Joseph by surprise. Didn’t think that Mildy could get it in time, but there you see the speed of Mildy. Rob Fontaine. Minute eight left with a man advantage. Bodger from the slot. Now back to Sweeney who has come from his net perch position. Here’s McGilly. Shot goal. Alexander Mildy 70 goals on the season and La Fontaine retrieved the puck which ended up at center ice. 70 goals for Alexander McGillni. And what a beauty that was. The quick pass from the corner. And watch the release and the shot by Mgilny. Look at him. They just fights off a check and rips the puck by Jablonsky. 70 goals for Alexander Mgillny. I mean, you can’t leave Mgillny when someone has 69 goals that open. I mean, the checker was certainly close to him, but you’ve got to be closer than that to someone who has scored 70 goals. Alexander McGillny joins Wayne Gretzky, Mariel Lemieux, Yari Curry, Bernie Nichols, Phil Espazito, and Brett Hull of the only players in the NHL to have scored 70 or more. Seconds left in the middle to Chelios. Law Fontaine from outside the faceoff circle. Back to Himab. Lontaine in front of Billy. He scores. And there is the new record for the most goals in the National Hockey League by a European player. [Applause] Talk about teamwork. This is a perfect example. The Sabers complement the attack and Alexander Mobility scores his 73rd of the season. All to the help of Bill Holder. Bob Ary also got the shot away. The loose puck picked off the back hand of Bo Gilman. Here’s Holder just coming right in. Harry in five position with Scorman scrambling for that loose puck and the quick hand of Alexander McGill gets the Sabres a two nothing leader at center line. [Applause] You can’t get any prettier than that. Alexander Mild and the Jetson kicks the puck to Laante. Watch this pass. That puck lands perfectly for Alexandri. He doesn’t have to make any kind of adjustments. Look at that saucer pass and sweeps it into the net and the lead 4 to2. Just beautiful. My goodness. Gave a little tap in front of the Flyers. Here’s the score. Well, it took a while, but it’s back. The firepower of Mogili and we got a tie game. How do you like that pass from Howard? What a beauty that was. A quick backhand pass and Moi a rightful shot inside the goal post. He doesn’t slap the pocket, but this was a penny. The Savers tie it for Gil ties for the NHL lead in goals. Look at this. Beautiful shot just inside the goal post. Unstoppable. Beautiful low shot by McGill and the Zoomers have scored twice on the power play. That’s what we talked about there to center the left side for legit by Ari. [Applause] How do you like that? Number 76, Alex has come out of his slumber. What a great one that was. Watch how quickly gets to this loose puck and he’s just too quick. Sold doesn’t move quick enough. The defenseman hasn’t a chance. Look how quickly Mcgilli has the puck and is in front of the net. Boy, that is a great look at a great goal by Alexander McGillni. Look at Sodestrom try to check the puck away. That’s a mismatch. And McGillney slides the puck between the legs of the Philadelphia goalender. His second of the night and that ties it at four.

  1. What a fun time to be 12 years old and a huge Sabres fan. I remember following the stats in The Buffalo News and was amazed we had two 100 point plus players

  2. TWO Hall of Fame centers, the leagues leading goal scorer(tied), Andreychuk(HOF) at wing, an Olympic Legend on D, a FULL house in the AUD, it must seem like an alternate reality to any young Sabres fan out there…if they even exist anymore.

And poor Andy Moog, this might count as cyber-bullying; until you factor in he was a Bruin! 🙂

    Those were the days…

  3. That season I lived in Rochester NY, cable TV didn’t have a deal with Sabres so I had to watch games at sports bars or bring my TV to my grandma’s house to watch games because her TV didn’t go above number 32 lol, she lived 43 miles away and I would drive there and lift my heavy TV out of car to enjoy the season.
