The Chiefs are WASTING a roster spot on this Chiefs player…

Can someone tell me why in the world Chief’s running back Elijah Mitchell is even on the roster? Andy Reid was recently asked what went behind the decision with Isaiah Pacheco being out with the MCL sprain for the coaching staff opting to elevate Clyde Edward Zair from the practice squad and activate him for the Bills game rather than having Elijah Mitchell dress out who’s been a healthy scratch on the 53man roster all season long. Well, his response was they really like Elijah or he wouldn’t be here. But Clyde knows all the protections and not only does he know it, but he’s done it. So there was comfort there given the history and they’ve seen our guy do it and that was the only reason why. So C equals our guy with experience that they trusted to carry the ball twice in that game for five yards. So if they trust C over Elijah Mitchell when injuries hit the room, why not just sign Clyde to the active roster and let Elijah Mitchell go somewhere else? I really don’t understand it and I believe it’s not health related because if it was, he would be on IR and not just sitting there taking up a roster spot. So, my best guess is the coaching staff who evaluates every snap of players at practice in the meeting rooms and they see things that we never will have one reason or another. They are reluctant for Elijah Mitchell to see the field even with Isaiah Pacheco out. But given the fact that Casey’s running back room is one of the least explosive in the entire league, aside from Bashard Smith, who they are slowly ramping up and working in, I just don’t see what it would hurt to give Elijah Mitchell two snaps in a game over C.   1. Mitchell has played well with the 49rs, he’s a beast, he’s healthy now on the Chiefs rooster, why not play him? Occasionally maybe? Does anyone think they’re saving him for the division playoff run? Possibly? Oh wait duuhhhhhh, we have to make it there first! 🫣🤭

  4. Did the same thing in the playoffs with LeSean McCoy in 2019 then LeVeon Bell in the playoffs in 2020 (we ultimately lost to Shady on his new team in Super Bowl). I don’t like stockpiling talent on the bench. Seems unprofessional to the untrained eye. But they’re paid big money for reason. Even if its just to keep the seat warm and put some humble pie in that Pro Bowl.

  7. Without a run game, Chiefs are not going deep in the playoffs at all. The inability to adapt away from the “system” is maddening. You can’t keep the same formula and expect to be champs.
