  1. Everyday I refresh Hockey Authentic hoping to see they have the centennial sweaters in stock, but expecting the answer no.

  2. The Griffins play at 11am for the kids game today. Maybe we’ll hear some good news about Postava. Although the Griffins are probably even worse than the Wings at updates, and that injury looked bad. 😕

  3. Who would have thought that the Leafs would be a worse team when they are down one Marner and up one Lalonde?

  4. I feel like this is the first time I’ve heard this tea/coach talk about the fact they don’t screen the goalie is a problem. It’s refreshing.

  5. Wondering if this Zyn ban at arenas is helping our downslide. We know for sure that Raymond, Johannson, and Larkin all use nicotine pouches, so I’m gonna assume that probably half the team uses them.

Now are the players stupid enough to follow this rule? Probably not, but having to be more secretive about it might add stress or prevent them from getting an upper decker in during a critical moment.

  6. Are leafs actually bad defensively because of gru or because they just don’t have a good d core?

Like.. I’m not a big fan of gru, but I look at the d core of the leafs and think to myself that isn’t a team setup for success.

  7. A win tomorrow completely resets things for this team. A bright side to the 3 days off is Danny getting to practice a bit with the team. There’s just going to be volatility with the teams performance until they get the lineup where they want it.

I’m a really big Kasper fan, and I can’t wait until his game starts to click again.

Having JBD back instantly raises the floor of the entire team, and I’m excited to see if they pass this test on Thursday.

  8. Been watching some Ducks highlights and it blows my mind how some franchises can have really good/iconic logos and not use them. That orange they have going is horrible, what happened to this?

I guess its just all merchandising and to hell with that greedy bullshit.

  9. Coach T:

Sometimes, it’s a brutal brand of honesty. Take his assessment of Marco Kasper’s season so far.

“Well, he’s not where he needs to be,” McLellan said. “You know, I could lie, but you guys would call me a liar right away.

“He’s not where he needs to be. He’s got some work to do.”

Then McLellan rattled off a laundry list of elements lacking in Kasper’s game.

“Last year, the competitiveness and the second attempt, third attempt in around the net, crashing the crease, solid two ways, checking his way into offense, those were all staples of his game,” McLellan said.

Here’s another factor about this team – Kasper is far from the only player who needs to be doing more.

Andrew Copp, Elmer Soderblom, and Michael Rasmussen are three Detroit forwards who are still idling on one goal for the season.

    That’s also unacceptable.

“We’re 20% done with the season,” McLellan said. “And some of those players … they’re at one goal and some of them are empty net goals, too.”

At practice on Tuesday, McLellan gathered these struggling forwards and put them on the spot.

“I asked some of them, ‘When’s the last time you had a tip or deflection in and around the paint, or had a rebound shot?’” McLellan said.

Copp has gone five games without a shot on goal. Kasper, a 19-goal scorer last season, has two shots over his past three games.

  10. Finnie and Kasper doing the hitting. This is part of the problem with the rest of the team. Sure wish you were back, MBN.

Through 16 games, the Red Wings rank 21st in the NHL with 306 hits. That works out to 18.86 hits per 60 minutes, which is 26th overall in the NHL.

Individually, you’ll run all the way down to 45th place among the NHL hit leaders before bumping into a Detroit player. That would be forward Marco Kasper, who has 40 hits.

Rookie Emmitt Finnie (97th, 29 hits) is the only other current Red Wings forward among the top 150 in this category.

  11. Currently, the Wings are sitting at a 6.6% shooting% at 5v5. That’s third worst in the league, only ahead of Calgary and Minnesota (both tied at 6.3%). That’s the major factor in our PDO being at 97, which is second worst in the league, with only Edmonton being worse in that aspect.

Conversely, the Canadiens have a PDO of 102.4, which is the third best in the league. And that’s largely bolstered by an absurd shooting% of 11.2%, which is at the very top of the league.

  12. Blues open for business.

    Sabres as well.

Two teams inquired about Tage Thompson. I would like him or Robert Thomas. Not sure if each team is doing that level of tear-down. I would consider including the 2026 1st for either player.

  13. Apparently the Griffins have only trailed for 28 minutes so far this season.

    This is game nine.

    Just a crazy start.

  14. Last year at Nov 13th red wings were : 7-7-1

so while not a HUGE improvement – we are still better than last year.

So, lets keep it going. The division is absolute crap shoot. If we can stay healthy and get some saves can be a really good season.

  15. kid day at the griffins, they are just doing crowd work with the camera that says “67” underneath it. Easiest money of their lives

  16. There ~~is exactly 1 goalie~~ are exactly 0 goalies dressed for the Marlies/Griffins game that are normally AHL goaltenders.

(Lol the Marlies backup doesn’t seem to be an AHL regular either. I didn’t realize Akhtyamov was out)
