Gabe Landeskog Happy After FINALLY Scoring 1st Goal & More After Avs WIN vs Ducks
Yeah, I I did thought maybe I my stick maybe caught the goalie stick or something. Going to interference. You never know. But um yeah, no, got back to the bench and obviously there was nothing to argue there. So, felt good. No doubt. I know you got the win in the playoffs and that maybe would have, you know, had your had that one maybe made a little bit worse, but was this something that was nice to get put behind you or were you not really thinking about it? Yeah. No, it was nice to to move on. I think it’s my second longest gold route in my career. So, it was nice to to just be done with it. Um, had a decent amount of looks and and some bounces that don’t go your way and that’s the way the game works and sometimes they you get easy ones and sometimes you you really got to work for them and and there’s a lot of guys in this room and in this league that make it look easy to score in this league, but it’s it’s not. So, um, nonetheless, pick two points for us and, uh, it’s a good team over there. So, that’s important. Does that relief and that weight off your shoulders just kind of make it a little bit easier for you to go back out there now? Maybe a little bit. But I think for me, I’ve I’ve tried to just kind of focus on my game and what I what I do on a shift to shift basis and the outcome is what it is. I try not to focus on the outcome. Just kind of surrender that and and uh focus on what I can can do on a shift to shift basis. And um but having said that, obviously you you’d like to go home and and uh and know that you at least want got one on the score sheet and then just kind of move forward with it. So um my son will be happy tomorrow morning when when he wakes up to the news. So that’ll be good. He keeps asking me and I just No, not yet. So this this will feel good. This team has now ended three long winning streaks. How does it feel to be on this high of a level this early in the season? Well, I think uh I mean that’s kind of what we expect out of ourselves. We feel like we’re we are able to collect points and and and win hockey games and beat good hockey teams uh at the same time as we’re trying to perfect our game, right? Um I don’t think our game’s perfect uh by any means, but I think for this point in the season, I think we’re doing a good job of making adjustments on on the fly and um and trying to really hone in on the details and what makes us successful. And obviously the power play has been been better as of late and that’s been big for us and and I think we just showed our depth tonight and and that’s what we need to do moving forward. To that point, what did you see from Anaheim tonight that maybe kept you on your toes? Well, I mean they’re they’re dangerous. They got so much skill up and down their lineup and they’re really dangerous rush team. Um and they put all their defenseman in the rush as well. So, you got a lot of good skaters on the back end that soon as they break it out, they’re they’re joining the rush and making it hard on us. So, that was kind of one of the keys tonight to make sure that they had to come through at least three of us and preferably four um to enter our zone and because they’re I mean, even though we had numbers back, they were able to create still and and create some good looks. But I thought for the most part, we did a good job of keeping them to the outside and limiting the high danger scoring chances at least. and um but they’re still a good team, so they’re going to put pressure on us. Wedgie did a good job tonight, obviously on the back end. The other day um on the Vancouver broadcast, Ray Ferraro said that you have some good days and bad days. What does a bad day look like for you now compared to, you know, a couple years ago? Uh yeah, I I don’t I don’t know exactly like I mean, it’s not perfect. I don’t think anybody’s perfect during the season. you got bumps and bruises along the way and and I think going into training camp is probably as good as you’re going to feel all year. So, uh bad days aren’t bad at all anymore. I mean, there’s there’s just things that I have to do on a day-to-day basis to make sure I feel good and and feel good enough to play. So, um you know, like I said, you’re never going to be 100%. I don’t think many guys are. So, no different with me. Um, but I would say that the the difference between the good and the bad days are are smaller now than they have been in years past. For sure. You mentioned the team maybe not being perfect and there there still being some things to work on, but being at the top of the league. Is that something to celebrate despite that? Yeah, I don’t know so much celebrate, but I think it’s it’s uh for us um it’s just a standard that we want to uphold really and and continue to play well and continue to hone in on the details and and improve our game as as best we can as we move we move deeper into the season here. So, um I think for us it’s just it’s a standard thing, right? Like that’s that’s what it is. And and uh you know we you enjoy the wins and you learn from the wins and you learn from the losses. That’s really the way it is. And uh this one tonight I guess a good team is no different. You know we’ll look at the video and get some rest and we’ll get back at it on uh Thursday. So um yeah should be good. Finish up with Gabe, please. Was there anything that Anaheim was doing in your own end that made it difficult to create the way that you guys would ordinarily like to and how did you work through that? Uh, I I don’t know. I mean, they they’re pretty aggressive in their own end. And I think for us, if you’re able to kind of break that pressure with some some attacks at the net, shots from the net, especially from the point, you know, they they got to turn and kind of figure out where the puck is, and then you’re able to scoop up some of those loose pucks and and keep the momentum rolling. But I thought um best part of the game is probably the first 10 minutes. I thought we were really strong and I think uh our our uh every single line was rolling and then I think the third period was really good too. I thought we were able to maybe not create dangerous scoring chances, but I thought we did a good job creating momentum and not allowing them to to exit out of their zone too easily. So, uh but they’re a good team, uh fast team and and very skilled. So, they’re going to be good for a long time. Thanks. Thanks, Gab. Appreciate it. Can you walk us through this moment? just dancing. That’s all that is. No. Um, you know, good shot. Kind of came through. Uh, used our Dman as a screen, popped off my shoulder. And then as I looked up, it was just black puck on black ceiling. So, I had to take a second to locate it. And then, um, third guy was coming back door. We tied him up. Everybody jammed. And then as it went through, the puck was still laying there. And all I had left was a leg to kick on it. So, um, yeah, not the prototypical goalie situation, but kept the puck out of the net. That’s all that matters. Uh, for you right now playing in front of this group, how much fun is this team having? Yeah, it’s fun to win obviously and you know put the puck in the net. You know, had a tough challenge in EMT, well Edmonton to start the game and then we obviously took over and then another tough team in Vancouver. Knew these guys were going to be tough and find a way to get two points in all those, you know, regardless of that score in Edmonton. It’s a team you don’t feel like you really knock them out of it until it, you know, gets late in the third. So, um, just putting full 60 minutes together. I think there’s been some couple lapses that, you know, you can’t play a perfect game as much as you want to, but uh I think when we when we do make it, we’ve been, uh, good at kind of cleaning up the mistakes and just keep collecting points and, you know, it’s fun to win and we see what that team wants to do. How much easier does it make your game when the team comes out that hot to score right off the bat? Yeah, it settles you in. Obviously, you don’t feel like I mean, you obviously feel like you got to be dialed, but it’s just a little bit of like, all right, there’s there’s cushion, right? So, um, we’ve done it a few times. We had it happen against us a few times and I think in all of them we’ve come out uh in a pretty good spot. So um just obviously even kill to the guys whether we’re you know up or down it’s uh back to work and trust the game plan. This is your first season sharing the locker room with Gabe Landisk while he’s in the lineup. He scores. What has he meant to this group? Not just being around but being in the lineup on a nightly basis. He’s just the voice of reason. I think he’s um you know just a calm collective human being. He he talks when he’s supposed to. It’s not only when you’re down. not only when you’re up, you know, he he repeats what Betsy says. He’s, you know, just a great presence, a good human being. We all know the story and, you know, what he’s gone through and it’s just um, you know, radiates off of him. And then obviously uh unfortunate for him to to lose a couple to the offside challenges and, uh, what have you, but uh, hopefully that that one tonight gets him going and, you know, he’s not a statistical guy, but it’s nice for him to obviously get on the board and and feel like he’s contributing more than just, you know, who he is as a as a hockey player. So, uh, proud of him, obviously. Yeah, I love having them. It’s been fun having them yet after that collision. Yeah, my voice is still low, so I’m happy about that. So, yeah, that sucked. You’re maybe not the one out there scoring the goals, but uh goal differential, your your group has been scoring more in the first period, getting those early starts. How important is this, especially against a team like Anaheim? Yeah, I think coming in as the two highest scoring teams in the league, I think they had mentioned, and then, you know, keeping them to one with the shot count being pretty even. Obviously, it was good defensive game. They had their couple, you know, great a chances, but it wasn’t anything that I think we had taken to them. So, you know, credit to our Dzone and the way the guys are playing and makes my job easier, but it’s a full team effort on both sides and we’ve been doing it for full 60 for a good month and a half now. Last couple, please. Thanks, Scott. Thanks, Scott. Thanks, Scott. Where is

We are all Gabe's son the morning after missing an Avs game the night before.
WEDGIE's A STUD
Oh it’s good to have Gabe back playing and scoring! We sure missed him while he was gone! Go Avs!
Wedgies earned #1 until Blacky is back to his normal self. Just my opinion
See what happens when you use ALL the lines thruout the whole game. Fresh legs keep pressure on.
What a difference a year makes. Last year major injuries continuously to start the year. This year injury-free and getting points.
