Red Sox fans want Cole Ragans or Vinnie Pasquantino for Duran, which I think is too much

Roylas fans are suggesting Kris Bubic, which I think is too little considering he has just one year left and was hurt last year.

But what about Noah Cameron, Blake Mitchell, and Angel Zerpa for Duran? It would hurt, but it gets you three years of an All-Star caliber outfielder. Do you pull the trigger?

  2. I think your scenario is about what it would take to get Duran. I wouldn’t trade Vinnie or Cole for him and I would hope JJ wouldn’t entertain that.

  5. I could see them trading Blake Mitchell after Jensen’s strong performance last year, and the Salvy extension. They’d probably have to throw in more than that, but in no world should we trade Noah Cameron. Young, MLB caliber, controllable pitching is probably the most valuable “template” of player

  8. Bubic and Mitchell sounds more in the ball park. Maybe you can extend Duran to get him through age 33 season for cost certainty. I doubt he’s the same type of player post 32 that he has been the previous 2-3 years

  9. I appreciate you being realistic on this. Royals fans who say “bubic” are delusional. One year of a SP coming off injury for three years of an all star outfielder like… Come on. It’s like those fantasy football trades where both sides wildly over value “their” guys and trade and trade you a bench player for your rb2.

  11. I think Noah, Blake, and Zerpa for Duran is just way too much. I would be comfortable with Noah and Zerpa or Bubic and Blake.

    The one element I think many people in this thread are not touching on is Duran will have three years of team control. So he’s going to be pricey. And sometimes you have to trade value to receive value in return. We can’t just say “anyone good is off the table” and expect a team to give you an All Star at a position we desperately need with several years of team control.

  17. Yes. Ok, I know we love Cameron. He has a great story but how many soft tossing lefties are really good in the big leagues? I really cannot think of any off the top of my head. The league will catch up to Noah soon. Let’s strike while the iron is hot. And if we are too in love in Cameron, why not just flip Kolek or Bergert? I would rather see Bubic, Mitchell, and some other lottery ticket thrown in, in a Duran or Adell trade. Would rather have Duran, he fits our club and ballpark more than Adell, who is statistically one of the worst outfielders in baseball defensively.

  22. Why do so many people want Duran? He had one really good year (2024) and was pretty good this last season. He plays his home games at one of the best hitters’ ballparks in the MLB, strikes out a bunch, and showed some defensive inconsistency this last season (or at least some regression). If we trade Bubic or Cameron, it’ll be the Johnathan India situation over again.

  25. I don’t think Ragans for Duran is that crazy of an ask. Royals have a surplus of starting pitching right now and need a bat. This type of trade is going to hurt regardless of who we trade.

  28. Sounds like fan-fiction from Red Sox fans. If I’m JJ, I’m not trading Ragans or Vinnie. I’d make Bubic available. Cameron, Mitchell and Zerpa yes, but not all in a deal for Duran. They’re out of their minds. Me personally, I’d like JJ to go after Jo Adell or Wilyer Abreu. Moreso Adell because our outfield is lefty heavy.

  31. padres fan here lol and it seems like boston media has been trying to increase duran’s trade value the entire year and has been trying to link him to the padres for a kings ransom. its weird imo bc why would anyone overpay for duran
