It just KEEPS on getting worse for the Canucks…

Man, this Conucks team really is the gift that just doesn’t really give you anything. Seriously, I’m tired of watching these games, man, because they’re starting to hurt to watch. Not because they’re playing this terrible brand of hockey where they’re getting blown out every game and there’s just no hope at all. Because I do think that they’re playing all right with the injuries that they have and the adversity that they’ve dealt with. They’ve stuck in these games. I think there was a stat that they played the most onegoal game hockey out of any team in the NHL because they are generating chances. They’re keeping up on the shot clock, but way more often than not, it seems like they just come up short in these tight games. It sucks, man, because I accepted the loss at the 4-2 score line with about 5 minutes to go and then they reel you in after all the missed chances in the second and third period. They finally get one back with about a minute and 30 to go. And I knew I shouldn’t have had my hopes up, but I did as a delusional fan. And of course, that hope came crashing down about a minute later after they scored the empty net goal to put this one away and make it a 5-3 score line. Seriously, man, the Conucks had so many bounces not go their way in this game. A couple of posts, De Brusk on the doorstep with nothing but a stretched out pad. And then that Besser chance early in the third that almost got by Hellabuk. The puck was rolling across the line, but of course it conveniently stops right at the edge of the goal line. Meanwhile, the Jets, they had a couple of shots going off of their players skates and in the back of the net. They were scoring no look backhanders into the top corner. And I know I’m coping like crazy right now, but I don’t care. It’s my channel. I’ll say whatever I want. But I think it’s warranted because man, seriously, there is no break from this team. Every single game something happens. today. On top of all of this, Demco goes out with injury. Who knows what’s going to happen there and the Canucks continue their trend of getting a point, getting a win, and then losing. Rinse, repeat. Can we get a good draft pick? I don’t know. Can we make the playoffs? I don’t know. We’re stuck in the middle. We might not get either of those things with the pace that we’re going at right now. It’s just tough. I don’t really know how to explain how I’m feeling about this team right now. But with that, let’s talk about the first period of play. Early in this one, it’s Morsy with a shot. It goes off of Taves’s skate and in the back of the net, but then connects on the board. Kefir Sherwood with his 11th of the season plays catch with Hughes and he fires it by Hauck. What an absolute beast this guy is right now. And then Vancouver to the power play. It’s Jake de Bruss who gets the stretch pass from Quinn Hughes and he goes shortside on Hellbuck to make it 2-1. He continues his hot streak and the Conucks have a lot of momentum until they take a costly penalty and of course we give up a goal. A very bad execution on the penalty kill. Sherwood gets handcuffed with this pass here. It’s a shot from the point. Gets a high tip and into the back of the net. I don’t get why our penalty kill is so bad right now. The Conucks were top three in the NHL last year and now they’re dead last. And this was the turning point in the game. This is where they lost it. They had all of the momentum and then they killed it with that penalty they took because 15 seconds after that, the Jets get the go-ahead goal to make it 3-2. Wraparound goes off of a skate and into the back of the net. And that is where we stand at the end of the first period. Demco leaves the game from what seems to be this stretch right here. We move to the second with Lankin. De Brusk on this great three-way passing play gets robbed right in the blue crease. If he waited a second more, he would have had some room to put it in. Good save nonetheless. Lankin also after getting thrown in cold also making good stretch saves. Kane then moves in with a shot. It leaks by Hella, but just barely goes wide. And then we move into the third period where the Canucks take another penalty and their penalty kills already struggling. Very poor coverage in the defensive zone. Leaves Valardi all by himself. He’s able to fire away this unpredictable spinning backhander. Not much Lankin can do. Goes right into the top corner. That’s on the defenders. Besser seems to have tucked this one in, but it just barely stops right at the edge of the goal line and stays out. Very unlucky. Big break for the Jets. But then with a minute 30 left in the game, the Canucks do get one back. It’s another goal here from Besser. Person shot gets stopped in front and it falls right to his stick where he’s able to put it by and give us some hope. But unfortunately the Canucks cannot get the equalizing goal and they give up this empty net to lose 5 to three. Frustrating game and now they go out on the road where it’s not going to get much easier. They have the Carolina Hurricanes and then the two Florida teams which is going to be a fun little stretch for this Kuck team. But we’ll see what happens. I want to know your thoughts in the comments. I don’t have many other thoughts. Honestly, I just need a break from this team for a couple days. We’ll reconvene on Friday. And yeah, I’ll see you then. Thank you for watching. Subscribe if you’re new. Peace out and take care.

The Vancouver Canucks lose to the Winnipeg Jets in an unfortunate way. Thatcher Demko went out with injury and Kiefer Sherwood kept his streak up.

  1. We have another No show year with Our Temu #1 Center….A man in a childs body….about as threatening as a wet rag….We kept an injury prone goalie when we could have traded and continued the training or Arty with Lank…..Why the fuck is Kane getting top line minutes!!!!!!!…..This team mismanagement is epic! 6 seasons in the NHL and EP40 still has a teenagers frame….many have been harping on him to stay here over the summer and train and strengthen up!!!! Nope….he needs to travel and live the millionaire life!!! We are paying 11 mill for a penalty killer…faceoffs and blocked shots!!!…I hate to say it but….we might as well trade Quin while he is in his prime and use the windfall we would get from his trade for a good gutting.

  2. They didn't play badly at all. Two of the Jets goals were just freaky bounces. You can see they're really trying and playing their hearts out. You have to keep with them. Just wish the arena crowd would make noise even when things are not going their way. It will lift them.

  3. How much longer will we keep waiting for Pettersson to come alive, aside from a goal and a neat stick handle every few games.
    O'connor looks great at least.

  4. I don't want to desperately start pointing fingers in every direction, but what if it is time to look at the health department (not sure what it is properly called) of the team. So many injuries might come from a deeper issue than just playing and getting unlucky

  5. I seriously don't believe in this management team and where they heading bad decision and bad signing this is not a playoff team WLWLWL this team not going anywhere besides below the bottom of the list and out of the playoff. Powerplay and defense is what's killing us same as last year am surprise they didn't change tactics.

  6. So much this month has defensively gone wrong for the Canucks. Sure putting up three standings points over the last three games isn’t bad but giving up at least three goals/game, which the Canucks have given up this month, without exception, is tempting fate. The last two such games have been losses even with the earlier of the two having come in overtime.

  7. When the empty net goal was scored and they showed the bench you could just see the life and joy being sucked out of them. They just need to get it together and reel it in.

  8. Half way through the first I told my gf Demko isn’t making it past the 1st period, doesn’t look right. They should’ve waited till at least Christmas to sign him and if he was “healthy” in the summer, probably should’ve looked at trading him, although I’m not sure how I’d feel if Lanks was our #1, he’s ok, but his positioning on a lot of goals is terrible. If we had a different owner I’d say management should worry about their jobs. The effort is there, the skill and toughness is not 🤷🏼‍♂️

  9. A lot of weak passes leading to turnovers, even the captain. Hope Hughes is not playing injured. So many turnovers last night. Man Kane is cruising and passing to no one. He looks really disconnected and slow compared to current pace of the game. Kane is even too slow to make it there to make a physical play.
Thank the hockey gods that Brock and Sherwood still look dangerous on the attack

  10. I wondered about why the Canucks signed Demko to a 3 yr $25million extension, instead of sticking with Lankinen & Silovs.

People keep griping about a rebuild, but, I see the past few years as a rebuild. It takes time for players to gel. We don't even know what quality of team exists until the injuries have abated & players get in sync with each other.

  11. I think the main problem with this team is the culture around it, the fans and the media. I’ve never supported a team in any support with such fickle fans, hailing a great comeback win and then two days later it’s “it doesn’t get any worse than this”. The support structure around the organization seems to love building them up and the morosely hammering them. The start to the season hasn’t been great but with all the injuries I’d say on the general balance of play in games, the Canucks are performing reasonably well. They look a lot more dynamic in attack than last season, all four lines offering something and not just dumping and chasing, they’re sticking with good teams. The main thing is defensive lapses and easy goals against on the PP. game management seems to be an issue because the Canucks concede goals often when they have momentum or at inopportune times. Like last night they were all over the Jets, Sherwood snipes a beauty and then the Jets score 2 scrappy goals within 15 seconds…

  12. If you delusional fan think the Canucks are getting blown out of their arena in Vancouver, look back at the many 1980s games where they were blown out of the water with heavier defeats by their opposing hockey teams. The Edmonton Oilers had a field day during that decade against the Vancouver Canucks. Worst defeat by the Great Gretzky and company on the lowly, unexciting Vancity hockey franchise was a 13-0 shutout.

  13. Maybe if our team knew to shoot rather than passing a the damn time then we would’ve tied and maybe won but they gotta keep looking for that perfect shot 😑 I see a rebuild in this teams future
