This will define EVERYTHING…

This will define everything. After the St. Louis Blues have recorded points in four out of their last five games, this has completely flipped the script in St. Louis as Doug Armstrong has a huge decision to make with this team moving forward. We’re going to break down everything from the previous game, exactly why this is huge for the St. Louis Blues, and why Doug Armstrong is going to be looking at the trade market in a different way. We’re going to break down everything you need to know and more in this episode. You’re not going to want to miss it. Before we get into it, I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone watching. Now listen, the Calgary Flames not the best team in the NHL, but the Blues going out securing a win. Yes, they blew a bit of a lead, but still taking the two points in this game, Darius, before we get into everything else in this episode, what is your thoughts on the St. Louis Blues and taking this win? Well, I think that they needed this win. They needed, and I talked about it yesterday, that they needed two points here. And I I mean, points have been very limited and hard to come by for the Blues so far this season. And shout out to the Calgary Flames for spotting them four so far this year. So, it was nice to see the Blues pick up another win and some big performances from players that I think they needed to step up in those moments. We’ve talked about, you know, some of the players needed to step up at the top of the lineup, but how about, you know, a Dylan Holloway who hasn’t started that well, who we’re going to get to later in the episode as well. How about a Matthew Kessle who blocked the shot, went down to the other end, scored a goal. How about an Oscar Sunquist who spoke out about how he hasn’t been playing that well and he needs to be better this season. And we were talking about it yesterday that you know it looked like he was going to get an opportunity over Buchad and then obviously an injury to Joseph allowed Buchad to get back in the lineup. But what was Sunquist going to do? Well, he puts up a couple points as well. So he looked really good. This was a big win for the Blues and all of a sudden Mark I mean they’re picking up some points here in the last couple games. Yes, the one last week against Washington was horrific, but in a larger sample size over the last, you know, five or six games, they don’t actually look that bad. And I think that’s the biggest thing looking at the Blues. I mean, like you said, beating the Edmonton Oilers. Listen, let’s look at the Washington game as a wash. This was an expedition. Who cares? Going into Buffalo, you take the win, you get a point in Seattle, and then you win against the Flames. If you can take the next game versus the Flyers, you’re starting to build this momentum. You’re getting wins. You’re getting points. You’re jumping up in the standings. Yes, there’s a bit of a stretch, but a lot of teams above the St. Louis Blues right now are not going to stay there. The San Jose Sharks, the Chicago Blackhawks, yes, they’re great teams. Yes, they’re young. They have a future, but right now the St. Louis Blues are a better team than both of them. So, I think moving forward, we’re going to see them drop in the standings. The Blues are going to move up. Listen, we’re so back, baby. This is a team that’s going to continue progressing. We need to see some key players step up. I’ve seen people speak on Holloway and Darius, just throwing it to you here quickly with Dylan Holloway. We know a contract here for him and Broberg. Do you think if he continues to kind of struggle that his AAV on his contract continues to dip or do you think this is a point where Doug Armstrong might say, “Hey, we know what you can do. When the team starts going, we’re still going to pay you.” He’s still going to get paid, but I think that this is certainly not helping his case and they still have to get a contract done. And I think Doug Armstrong can look at it and be like, “Yeah, you know, you have arrived to a degree, but we thought you were going to take another step this year and you haven’t really done that.” Because he’s not really on pace to do that. I thought he was actually going to be a lot better this year. Now, there’s a lot of room to get going still. It’s only November. Keep that in mind. And there’s no contract in sight right now, right? So, obviously, I think he’s going to resign, but, you know, they haven’t really talked about one. There’s been no talks about it, at least in the media. Uh, so it’s been really quiet on that front. So, he still has a lot of time to get going there. So, I I do think it might affect his contract a little bit. When you look around the league notoriously every year, but especially this year, there’s a lot of guys like a Jacob Trouba, for example, which is a random one that comes to mind that, you know, is in a contract year and playing absolutely lights out, like well above what they’ve been playing. And Holloway hasn’t been that so far this season. He can still get there, but in terms of, you know, pace, I know he scored again last night. Uh, in terms of pace, you know, doesn’t look like he’s going to get there to where we thought he was going to get to because, you know, he has been taking steps every single year. So, we’ll see what he does over the course of the next month or two. Uh cuz then we’ll have a better, you know, idea of what he’s going to finish with. But, uh they haven’t talked about a contract. I think this is, you know, hurting his uh plea and his case for, you know, a $10 million contract or something like that over the course of seven or six years. So, that’ll be interesting to see. And I think it really starts to come down to there’s a couple key players on the roster that have to be signed. Broberg, of course, being one, Holloway, the two Edmonson Oilers. Thank you for sending them over because they’ve been incredible. But I mean going into the lineup, there’s a lot of people extended. I mean, we’ve seen Nathan Walker extended to start the year. We know Thomas BCH. There’s a lot of guys that are already under contract, but it’s nice that you have the flexibility if something goes completely south with a player. There’s a lot of guys on short-term deals or people not signed after the season. So, the Blues are in the perfect situation. But, Darius, this feels like this game really flipped the script. We’ve seen them go on this bit of a run. just a couple of weeks ago, a couple days ago, we were talking about how this team was maybe looking at trading Shen and other players, but I think leaning into this, if we see this team go on to win, if you go on and you beat teams like the Flyers, Vegas, Toronto, Philly again, and then all the way to the Islanders, do you think this is the world where Doug Armstrong might start looking at the trademark in a different way, saying, “Hey, listen. We have assets to give up if we’re going on a run. We’ve seen them do it countless times, 2019 and even last year. Could this be the point where we see Doug Armstrong? We know they’re in their meetings, the GM meetings. We’re seeing him speak with Team Canada. But do you think being around other GMs, maybe he’s starting to get in their ears saying, “Hey, we might be buyers instead of sellers at this point.” Yeah, I think it’s very possible. We talked about it briefly in our video yesterday that, you know, I think uh this is a very crucial stretch for the St. Louis Blues heading into Thanksgiving because depending on what they do over the course of the next couple games, you know, when you’re heading into December, you have a really good idea of who’s going to make the playoffs versus not. Things can always change, but you’ll have a really good idea. So, depending on these next couple of games, I say next couple of games, maybe like the next six or seven or eight games on the schedule, I think the Blues have a really good opportunity uh to put themselves in a in a different category to be like, “Okay, yeah, we look like we’re going to be making the playoffs. Maybe we go out and get somebody rather than sell Shen and everything we’ve been hearing the last couple days. Sell Shen, sell Kyu, all these other guys, Justin Faulk. We’re going to have a video on that as well. There’s so many rumors flying around. So, this could dictate the season, which is a little crazy to say. You know, a game against the Islanders is going to dictate the season, but it can dictate which way Doug Armstrong wants to go here because he can really go at this point either way. you can call up the young guys and start selling off some of the the older guys if you want to if this looks like it’s going to continue to go south which you know not so much over the last couple of games but um if it is going that way you can do that or you can go the opposite way keep everybody you guys start to you know get on a roll there you add another player closer to the deadline like they did last year with Fowler so um it’ll be interesting to watch and like you mentioned I don’t think the Sharks are going to hang around there too long I think they’re going to end up falling some of the younger teams around as well uh you know will fall as well So, I think it’s going to be interesting to see what happens down the stretch uh this month and I think it’s going to get really concerning or not concerning confusing with this team story. But fans, what is your thoughts on this? Also, I just wanted to bring up that Jordan Bennington right now has the most games played in franchise history by a goalender. What is your thoughts on this Blues team? Are they going to be buyers? Do you think they need a new youth movement to bring up more players from Springfield and even go out to acquire a couple more? Let us know down in the comments. And speaking on comments, let’s go straight into comment today. Speaking on Joseph, Joseph has played well. He played with urgency and is responsible defensively and I do like having Joseph into this lineup of fast forward that can chip in offensively here and they’re still quite young. But what is your thoughts on this team fans? What do you think they do? Should they go to buy? Should they go to sell pat until Christmas? Let us know all your thoughts down below. While you’re down there, leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. We’ll be back in another episode. So keep your eye for that. But I’ve been your host Mark with my co-host Der and take care

  1. the blues should be sellers, there just not any good this season. they blew a lead to seattle and nearly did it again with calgary. move out some older guys and bring in the kids to see what they can do. i would love a chance at the number one pick this year.

  2. I'll take the win, but I was not excited about it. After last season I thought the only thing they should have done bring on a vet or two defense men for their experience, after last night I think they really need to focus on defense. Hey maybe bring on Kurt Russell because he was in that movie with a ring it.😅

  3. Unless we’re in the top 3 picture in the centrel by February we need to trade Schenn especially if he’s doing good. We ain’t winning a cup even if we got a prime ovechkin or crosby so let’s at least get a 2 rounder out of him
