I remember people getting downvoted so hard for suggesting a Lank/Silovs duo. This community would make the same mistakes management would.
I still got a picture of Horvat hanging above my pillow.
I get revisionist history, but he’s one of the reasons the season went the way it did.
We don’t get blown out in the games he plays and team environment is probably better and miller doesn’t have his blowup and the year is completely different. I was at the devils 5-0 game. That was the worst arena atmosphere I have ever felt, it was that bad. While I’m happy he’s doing well with the pens, there was a reason he was let go.
Trading Silovs, trading for Kane, not signing Suter, signing Petey prematurely, trading Horvat instead of Miller, signing Vinny Desharnais, extending DOC, signing Mikheyev, paying to get rid of Mikheyev.
Man I get their hands are tied by ownership and horrible cap situation, but there’s the number of mistakes by Allvin and Trader Jim are starting to pile up
The only trade I never was fully on board with was getting rid of Horvat and keeping Miller. Horvat wasn’t as good as Miller points wise at that time, but he is younger and played a more complete game. Obviously, now we know that Miller wouldn’t work out here and that’s probably hurt us the most.
People are so weird about goalies. They get something in their heads and just can’t adjust their perspectives.
Silovs is a good goalie. His last season in Abby showed that. That is supposed to be the trajectory: Cut your teeth in the minors (he did), get better (he did), and be ready for the NHL (he is).
Now the Canucks have an injured Demko (surprise!), and Silovs is having a very nice year in Pitt.
Ain’t no party like an arty party…

We all know if we traded Demko away he’d be injury free on his new team. Canucks luck.
It’s like the universe we live in is actually a simulation, and the Vancouver Canucks were setup as a rogue module to see how much impossiby unfair shit a fanbase could deal with. (jokes, obviously)
At first I was sad it was Penguins, but now I’m happy he left this shit show at the right time. Now I’m hoping Penguins won’t become shit show with all them rebuilds and what not but that’s a different story.
Is there a giant glass case or something that Van could keep Demko in???
Major f-up IMO
Me, quietly sitting in my Markstrom Flying Skate remembering that people said not to worry about the potential injury future of a goalie that had double hip surgery before starting in the NHL……(I love Demko and this is a revisionist take and Marky has had injury trouble as well, I know)
Dude that’s me every day
Rebuild train!!! Woot woot
Wolverine canon canucks fan now in my head
What really bothered me, is how the media tried to spin the Silovs trade as a guy who needs alot of games to “git gud”. Imo thats what you want from from a goaltender, someone who gets better the more they play, yet we opted for the guy who falls apart the more he plays.
Im gona get hate but the risk wasn’t worth keeping him.
We gave him a chance last year after a stellar playoffs and he finished with .860% unplayable
What if we didn’t keep lankienin, signed siloved and he still sucked?
He had to go through waivers. If he did and a team like edmonton picked him up, fans would run managment out of town and the same fans that would want to keep him would turn around and say oh why didn’t you just trade him.

What if the pens leapfrog our rebuild too
