JUST CONFIRMED! 49ERS MAKING PERFECT TRADE AND BRINGING DEFENSIVE STAR TO SAN FRANCISCO! 49ERS NEWS
Niners faithful, what’s up? It looks like the front office might finally be waking up because the San Francisco 49ers are in the final stages of making a huge defensive signing to try and fix this injury riddle defense and keep our playoff dreams alive. I’m telling you guys, if this move happens, it could completely change the second half of our season. But before we jump into it, and make sure you hit that like button, subscribe to the channel, and let’s push to hit our goal of 5,000 subscribers. You guys have been incredible with your support and I promise this one’s going to get you fired up. That is Matt Mayoko. He is Rod Brooks. I am Carlos Ramirez. There comes a point, Matt, where you just look at a game, watch a game, and say, “This team’s better. These this team doesn’t have enough manpower, and even if they did, this team’s just better.” That’s what it felt like today for the Rams and the 49ers. I I’ll say specifically, the Rams offense was a heck of a lot better than the 49ers defense. I mean, look at the Rams offense. 31 first downs in this game and they only had to use three downs nine times. So, in other words, they were getting first downs on first down and second down and they even rarely got to third down. So, this was just a clinic and the 49ers had no answers defensively. Offense did their job today, but they started in a 21 nothing hole. And the ners as a whole, we know what they’re missing. We know how good the Rams are. you have to be on point every step of the way. Three turnovers, but really two turnovers uh cost the Niners the game, the stop on fourth and one in the red zone and then the the turnover by Jawan Jennings. Those turnovers, the penalties, all of that led to the Niners being in a hole and their offense just simply couldn’t dig them out. I mean, the Niners scored 26 points, which is the number of points they scored where they beat the Rams in week five in overtime. In overtime. Yeah. and and we saw I think two faces a very Harvey Dentl like offense for the Rams Matt. The first half was very much Nakua and Devonte Adams very low 13 personnel but then the second half they went tight and heavy and the 49ers have no answer for that set so far this season. It it just looked like everything the Rams did worked and the 49ers were always like a step behind always playing catchup. the the defensive front. I mean, we knew this was going to be an issue with the 49ers just simply being able to put pressure on the quarterback. They could not do that. And back on the back end, you know, guys were running wide open. And so, whatever they tried to do, whether the Rams wanted to play smashmouth football and and hit the 49ers in the face, they did that. If they wanted to spread it out and throw the ball down the field, they were able to do that as well. You know, we’re obviously not having a lot of guys, Bosa, most notably Fred Warner. that doesn’t make up for the fact that the Niners missed tackles way too many of them and the confusion in coverage was absolutely evident. So, I mean, yes, the Rams are better. The NerS are not in a good position, especially defensively with their injuries, but there was some lapses as far as the way that certain guys played and the way that the defense played that you just can’t have if you’re trying to pull a major upset. And it would have been a major upset today. It would have been. Time for more reaction. Let’s go live to Levi Stadium with Laura Britt and Jennifer Lee Chan. Yeah, Carlos, this started out as a very lopsided game from the first drive of the game. If you look up and down the stat sheet, the Rams had the advantage in every statistical category. I think right now the defensive injuries, they’re catching up to the 49ers. Mike Williams of course went out last week and at this point it just seems those injuries almost are too much against the number one passing offense in the NFL. Absolutely. And when Robert Salah kind of got fancy in Houston, it was really ineffective. They were a little bit more simple last week and it worked again this week because Tatum Bthoon D Winter is both injured. They went into their dime package a lot and it didn’t work out very well. I think when Robert Sull keeps it more simple, it works a little bit better, but I know the injuries to those linebackers really affected the game. Yeah, Matthew Stafford able to spread the ball around efficiently. He had four receiving targets, score touchdowns today. They ran with a lot of tight ends today and that was productive for them. Meanwhile, the 49ers limited in the run game today. Just 74 yards on the ground. We all know that Kyle Shanahan offense typically utilizes the run game quite a bit and today just limited to 74 yards. Yes. And they didn’t they weren’t on the right side of the calls either. Several DPI calls, especially two on Jawan Jennings that should have been called not called. George KD seemed to have been set when that penalty was offsetting. If that was not offsetting penalties, they would have had a first down not leading to the interception. But, you know, should have, would have, could have. So, a lot of opportunities missed here for the 49ers. I mentioned that stat sheet. That was a glaring statistical uh difference between the Rams and the 49ers. The Rams with zero penalties, the 49ers, seven penalties for 45 yards. If you are looking for a positive today, George KD able to get more involved in the offense today. And the Cardinals took a beating from the Seahawks. Of course, the 49ers headed to Arizona. It is a tight race out west. The Seahawks and the Rams sit a top of the NFC West at 7-2. Why big wins over the last weekend, man? The Seattle Seahawks dropped 44 on the Cardinals. Cardinals dropped down to 3 and six. And how about the Rams and my 49ers? Rams got their revenge for that week five loss, 42-26 to advance to 7 and2 outside of the Seahawks. Yeah, Matt Stafford with all those no look passes. He was thrown yesterday. I mean, the man was feeling himself and he absolutely should have. Let’s talk about this 49ers now. They battled through a ton of injuries. They’re still sitting at six and four, a top five offense and signs of real progress under Robert Salah’s defense. How are you going to grade San Francisco? I’ll start with you on this one. Uh Mike, it’s tough, right? Because it’s the next man up, but how many men can we can we move up the ladder? Yeah, I mean I went B minus because I had to give a grade, but like realistically this is one of those courses in like college where you, you know, you get sick, you miss half the season, so you have to get an incomplete. You know, the professor doesn’t give you a grade. You got to take it again next semester. That’s what this 49ers team feels like. It’s like we just don’t know. We never saw it. You know, Ricky Pieraw has been out most of the year. George KD was out most of the year. Brandon Auk still hasn’t played. Fred Warner goes down for the year. Nick Bosa goes down for the year. Brock Pury has missed most of the season. And it’s like the team that we hoped we were going to get just didn’t exist. The results are still good. They’re still a game out of the last wild card. It’s crazy that they’re still six and four given all those injuries and you got to be happy about that as a 49ers fan. But unfortunately, this is just an incomplete season because the injury bug hit them harder than anyone else in the NFL. I like that they have deferred because they got menitis or something. They can’t finish the semester. JP down at the bottom of the division. The Cardinals said Rener wasn’t as generous as you were giving them a D minus for the Arizona Cardinals, but Mike Rener, JP Aosta, appreciate you helping us break down and grade the NFC West. Here’s a look at what we have to look forward to for week 11. The 49ers take on those lowly Cardinals from my say. Hopefully they can bounce back in that one. And here’s the big one, the one that everyone’s going to be looking forward to. The Seahawks and the Rams. Rams favored just under a field goal there. I can’t wait for that one, Jack. So, here’s the situation. The 49ers didn’t make any splash moves at the NFL trade deadline, and a lot of people around the league were shocked. I mean, how do you lose Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, your two defensive captains, to season ending ACL injuries and still not pull the trigger on a big trade? Well, now we’re finally seeing what the plan was all along because San Francisco is reportedly closing in on a deal with quarterback Asante Samuel Jr. And man, that could be a gamecher. Let’s start with this. I actually think John Lynch made the right call staying quiet at the deadline. Yeah, it was frustrating. I get it. We all wanted someone like Trey Hendrickson or Jaylen Phillips to fill that edge void, but the asking prices were ridiculous. The Bengals wanted a first round pick for Hendrickson, and the Jets wanted a second rounder for Germaine Johnson. That’s highway robbery for rental players who might walk away in March. Lynch wasn’t going to mortgage our future again just for a short-term patch. Plus, don’t forget, and we’d already made four trades this season. Bryce Huff, Sky Moore, Brian Robinson Jr., and Kon White. The front office had already been aggressive. Lynch just chose Preservation over panic this time, and that’s smart management. But here’s the real problem. Our defense is hanging by a thread right now. The Dline has been destroyed by injuries, and our pass rush is basically non-existent. Through the first nine games, we’ve recorded just 11 total sacks. That’s barely over one sack per game. In the last seven matchups, we’ve got only seven sacks total, one of the worst stretches in the league. And because of that, our secondary has been under constant pressure. Theodore Lenoir is doing everything he can, but he can’t cover every elite receiver in the NFC by himself. And man, the safety unit has been a disaster. Coverage grades around 60 or lower for everyone. And both Gear Brown and Jason Pino are missing tackles over 16% of the time. That’s brutal. And that’s why Asante Samuel Jr. is the perfect guy to come in right now. This kid is only 25, but he’s already played like a veteran. Pro Bowl level talent, elite instincts, and a total ball hawk. He averages double-digit pass breakups every year and already has 11 career interceptions. He’s aggressive, physical, and exactly the kind of tone setter this defense has been missing since Bosa went down. Plus, think about this. Pairing him up with Lenoir gives us a legit one to two punch on the outside that would let the safeties stay more disciplined and finally take some pressure off the linebackers. And it’s not just talk. His visit to San Francisco is already in motion. The 49ers are serious about this one. The best part, it doesn’t even cost us draft capital, just cap space for the rest of the season. A one-year deal with an option for 2026. That’s a no-brainer. Let’s be honest, this team still has a real shot. We’re sitting at 6 to3, just one game behind Detroit and Philly in the NFC standings. If Brock Pury can get back to full strength and stay healthy, we’ve got enough firepower on offense to compete with anyone. Christian McCaffrey is still leading the NFL in total yards from scrimmage. George KD is having his best stretch since 2019. Brandon Aok’s root running has been elite. The offense isn’t the issue. It’s the defense that’s been holding us back. We’ve seen this before. Elite teams collapse late in the year because of secondary breakdowns. If we bring in a Sante Samuel Jr., we’re not just patching a hole. We’re giving this defense the spark it needs to survive December and January football. And that’s what this is all about. The window. Look, the Niners have been knocking on the door for years. We’ve been to the NFC Championship three times in the last four seasons, but we haven’t finished the job. We’ve had elite rosters, great coaching, and brutal injuries that derailed everything. This signing, adding Asante Samuel Jr. might not guarantee a Super Bowl, but it gives us a fighting chance. And in a season where we’ve already lost two of our best defenders, that’s all you can ask for. So, yeah, maybe the 49ers didn’t win the trade deadline, but this move, this might be even smarter. The trade deadline’s over, but our season isn’t. What do you guys think, Faithful? Should we go allin for Asante Samuel Jr.? Drop your thoughts in the comments. I want to hear from you.
