I think a video like this shows Tage might be trying too hard to be a skilled forward who can dangle anyone. He is too soft on the puck and gets pushed off it by pretty much anyone. Needs to simplify his game and stop trying to stick handle every time the puck gets on his stick when he isn’t in a shooting lane.

Bad stick handling, bad passes, and terrible effort are the death of this top line right now.

  1. I’m gonna dump some cold water on the Tage discussions like “how can he get back there”:

He was never there. He’s just not good. He’s not a dominator. He’s not a top-end offensive threat. He’s not good with his hands. He’s not fast.

He had a half season of spotty point dumps before the NHL got a read on him, and he has never been able to grow his game past that read.

The year everyone’s talking about “getting Tage back to” was a year where he scored half his goals in only 7 games, because he just abused teams that didn’t have the read yet.

He has never been good and every moment this org spent penciling him in as our #1 forward was a joke to cope with losing Jack Eichel for nothing.
