This isn’t really surprising
NBA team execs will literally throw out/post trade ideas on the r/nba sub just to see how fans would react to a trade. Obviously not the only thing they take into account but it actually has some sort of influence which is funny
I feel like they are actively on the defense because a few Media guys keep talking about the cost of a rebuild. It seems like some talking points are pushed out for people to hit and dissuade fans from thinking a rebuild is a good idea.
I have this bowl!
They must have a massive file on all the shit talking I do about the ownership and the management
Ah yes. Priorities.
That tracks, ownership is more concerned about perception than on-ice product. Curse them.
Haha instead of doing a good job Francesco is raging at tweets. What a loser
They can monitor deez nuts lol
pretty sure 30 other teams do this too. it’s called having a PR department.
FWIW: can confirm this does happen. Social and content do weekly meetings on talking points, and the President Michael Doyle (Aquilini’s proxy) is briefed regularly re: the online chatter.
When it comes to rebuilding, they seemingly won’t due to cash flow needs. In 2022, I remember hearing they were delaying the release of their Season Ticket Membership renewal letter in April because of a 2-3 winning streak, as if those games would change sentiment and influence sales. That was the moment I realized they will never rebulid. They really are convinced a few late wins in the spring, a new signing or coach, and up-beat nothing burger of a letter from the President will change things.
It’s either comically stupid, or they have short term cash needs that cannot afford to see season ticket renewals drop below a certain point. (Remember: the Aquilinis have several different business that all depend on the Canucks and the building being busy: the wine, the meat, it’s all theirs. If those things don’t sell at a certain level, it’s likely problematic for covering loan costs. They might be “rich” on paper, but they seem to be very cash poor. I guess Sugar Babies are expensive these days, eh Francesco?)
And before you dorks ask: my source is a ton of CSE staff.
When Alvin and Rutherford got here, it felt like they had a plan and executed in a precise way, rebuilding the d-core and adding players like Hroney, Soucy, Zadorov and Lindholm.
Now, it just feels like they are doing things randomly on the whims of what Francesco feels like this week. In totality, they have lost four 20+ goal scoring centres and did not seem to have any strategy to replace them.
Surprised you didn’t use a picture of 🧊 though in 2025, these guys could be 🧊
Is that Ep40 on the left? Double Canucks duty
This subreddit will never cease to find ways to blame management or ownership for everything and never the actual players. Then you all simultaneously want Hughes to have a reason to stay but also want to gut the team before his next contract is signed.
It’s not like the management is just sitting around either. A ton of different players have been tried on this team in the Petey and Hughes era. Tanking is pointless when we literally have two young superstars already. I honestly just do not get this circlejerk that goes on here.
Aqua doesn’t listen
Our record looks about the same as most teams in nhl a month in lmao ppl way too emotional just enjoy the game
