HC Jonathan Gannon Postgame – 11.9.25 | Week 10 vs. Seattle | Press Conference

Okay. Uh, injury front here. Drob had a groin. Walter had a knee. Bam had an ankle. Z Jones had an Achilles. Smi had an arm. Rabbit had an ankle. And Jonah had a shoulder. Um, so obviously not our brand of ball today. um got beat pretty damn good. Uh and that falls on me. So, just got behind early. Um versus a good team, it’s tough to dig yourself out. So, not a lot of good from out of that game. Um I was proud of them that they battled there. I’ve been in games like that where they just want to get home and that was not the case. So, that was good to see. That’s the fabric of our team. But, they know we didn’t play our brand of ball to even give us shot give us ourselves a shot today to win a game. So, uh, we’ll go back tomorrow and get get to work. What do we got? With the, uh, the way the game kind of started, Garrett, it looked like he was in a good place and kind of fell on the on the long pass and then the fumble. How much does that kind of take out of a team? Yeah, I mean, you’re Well, you’re down, you know, I thought they converted that third down and then they hit us on an explosive. Um, he’s a good player. I thought Garrett was in pretty good position. Good throw and good catch and then we’re in known pass and you got a sack fumble and you’re down 14 nothing. So, um but all is not lost, but we punt punt the ball back um and then they go right down the field and score. So, I mean, you know, it’s just you dig yourself a hole. I think it was 28 nothing after this on the third down sack fumble. Um it’s going to be tough to win a game. What were the issues on the offensive line of the two sack fles? I mean, it’s known pass versus a really good front. So, you put yourself in known pass and you know, we got to protect better and get it out of his hand more. It seemed like you guys struggled to pick up their their creative blitzes and stuff. What did you see that went into that? Yeah, I mean the the first one um I think it was supposed to be five and they ripped six. Um, and the second one I thought was just a fourman rush with Z. I’m not sure. Do you have a sense yet of what uh the severity of Walters injury? I’m not sure on any of those you guys truthfully. I don’t know. Um, they didn’t really pass in the second half, but but in the first half overall, what did you see kind of go wrong with the pass defense? Well, rush mechanics, you know, that one to Cooper too. that was that in the first half or second first half 67 yer like you know they scrambling around with a fourman rush and that’s what’s going to happen. So at the end of the day guys like nothing good from that game and it falls on me like it’s not the players are trying you know it’s not for a lack of effort. I got to put them in better spots. I got to have them ready to go better than what I did today. That’s what it comes down to. It’s what it is. Do you need to make lineup changes or staff changes at the time? No. No. It uh it seemed like there was some of that kind of sloppiness that that we saw earlier in that fivegame losing streak. Where do you think that that is? What do you think is causing that for this team? I wouldn’t say sloppiness. I think that we got out coached and outplayed. um that that you know we we have to play a lot better versus good teams to have a chance to win and we did not do that. Coach did Seattle do anything that you guys weren’t prepared for? I’d have to watch the tape. I I probably wouldn’t say that. No. And so were these physical mistakes or mental mistakes? I’m sure it’ be a blend of both. You know, technique. Um I’m sure there’ll be some assignments. You know what I mean? And that’s what I mean, Greg. It’s a It’s a good point. Like when that happens and the score looks like that, it falls on a head coach. Like and it it’s it’s it’s it sucks for me to say that because that’s where I my my mind goes. I didn’t do enough what I needed to do throughout the week to get them ready to go. I really respect that you It’s the truth. It’s the truth. It’s the truth, Greg. That’s I mean, you you’ve said that a lot this season after losses like why do you think that that keeps happening? I don’t know. Obviously, I didn’t have a good enough plan all three phases, you know. So, we just got to look at it. We didn’t set it up right.

  1. You are admitting you were out coached…no lineup changes are needed…you didn’t put a good enough plan together. Why are we going to keep this going another year? JG, I had so much hope… I believed in you…but I’m over this era.

  2. Last year was a much better season smh I wouldn’t give up Gannon just yet that offense coordinator needs to go I feel like they need a new conditioning staff all these injuries players dropping like flies smh

  3. Love when Gannon says "Truthfully!" So when ya gonna start putting your players in a position to win? What ya waitin" for? How many games do you get to be outcoached. When does that trend just become the way it always is? Growth mindset talk feels very hollow coming from you and your staff!

  4. I really want to like this coach, but at the end of the day, he's right – it is his job to create a plan good enough to win games. Just like Kyler wasn't the problem, Kyler also isn't the answer. And now I don't think that Gannon is the answer either..

  5. It’s the same story every week with this guy. “It falls on me” well when the hell is it not gonna fall on you. This team has been terrible since 2015 even when we went 11-5 we still got embarrassed in the playoffs. We are never gonna be good until Bidwell sells the team. I like JG but not as a head coach. Nick Rollis is the only good couch on the sidelines. Pretzing is so stuck in his pre set playbook that he can’t adjust when needed. Kyler isn’t the answer at all he’s been here for about 6 years and never won us a playoff game. And JB is a solid backup at best. We need to rebuild.

  6. He thought benching Kyler for Brissett would save his job

Yeah maybe the Cowboys D stinks and you were foolish for thinking "Brissett runs our offense so well."

  7. Solidifies Kyler's benching. Keep him in best condition for a trade since season is well and truely lost. Play season with the backups.
    Offseason needs, 1 – New OC at a minimum, 2 – RT/OL, 3 – QB.

  8. If he admitting he’s not fit to be a head coach!? I can’t understand why he is responsible for all facets of the game all three phases? Didn’t he say a few press conferences ago he’s in charge of managing the players? So now he’s in charge of creating all the schemes and coaching every position group etc? Call it like it is man. What’s going on?

  9. Maybe now all the Kyler haters will finally shut up and realize we are losing the game at the line of scrimmage. We are giving up too many sacks, can't run the ball and can't get to the other teams QB. It's nothing new.

  10. Sometimes you gotta go outside the box…oh, you’ve tried that. GM? That’s always a good place to start. Belichick there you go, hire him as your GM. He’ll get you squared away.

  11. A good leader takes full responsibility for a bad football game played by 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier players who could not keep up with the bigger, faster, and stronger opposition. A good leader knows what needs to be done to fix shortfalls. The workers also have to work.
