What’s going on Jeromes? Beautiful Thursday. Birds are chirping and stuff and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. Uh I saw the Northern Lights as did everyone in the Twin Cities metro. Anyways, uh the the story dour yesterday was of course Jonathan James McCarthy, JJ McCarthy uh being limited in practice because Chawi bit my finger banged his finger in the Ravens game up against the helmet of Donovan Jackson. Uh, this is from Kevin Seafford, ESPN, who’s not Cargo Gurmid. Here’s a play. JJ McCarthy suffered his hand injury. McCarthy, if you get your hand slammed in a car door, it’s going to feel different for everything you do with that hand. There’s no excuses whatsoever. At the end of the day, we’re Warriors and we got to push through. And it was the shot at the end zone from uh to Justin Jefferson, which I know 18 should have brought in. It is what it is, right? Uh, also just I I I just can’t wait for McCarthy to drop another finger on the Bears because he dropped a pretty good one against the Bears the first time around. It’s going to be good. So, again, it’s always something’s team for a small market team. There’s always just drama all over the place. Uh injury report wise, uh Okonnell also said that the only player on the 53 in danger of missing Sunday is Grenard. Uh he DMPD uh with a shoulder. Hopefully he gets in some work uh the rest of the week, but we’ll see. Then it’s sort of a mix of, you know, veterans with small ailments as well as better unrest. Not too worried about anyone. Not even worried about McCarthy. Also, it’s good to see Josh Oliver working his way back from a foot. Uh does sound like he’s going to play on Sunday. So, Ham, Josh Oliver, Ryan Kelly back. Let’s run the frigin football, man. Uh, speaking of Ryan Kelly, so, uh, Vikings head coach Kevin Klein announced that the team is opening the 21-day evaluation window for center Ryan Kelly. Woo. Also, the Vikings, they tend to bring players back early in the window. So, uh, it makes sense if Kelly is being cleared for practice this week that he will return on Sunday. All right. They generally don’t drag these things out. Allelu athletic uh Vikings head coach Kevin McConnell said Ryan Kelly will be wearing a new helmet and a guardian cap which is probably a good idea. You know two concussions uh in three games with the Vikings five documented concussions for his career probably a lot more. And you know it it’s kind of a weird thing. Now obviously with brain injuries you’re you’re very wary of them, right? But if Kelly and his family want to continue and the medical professionals clear him, let’s do it up, man. Cuz Kelly was a badass when he was in there at center for the limited time. 113 snaps. Uh perfect clean sheet in terms of pass pro. Uh 70.2 PFF run blocking grade. just really good at communication, really good at lining things up. He and McCarthy took all the snaps together for the most part in training camp. So, you know, that connection is there. And Brandle Brandle, frankly, filled in pretty good. And also, like if the Vikings don’t bring back Kelly next year or say Kelly retires, I think that it could be I mean, like Brandle should be in the center conversation uh next year uh potentially earning that job long term. Jurgens is also there. It puts a lotion on the skin like we said. Hope hopefully we can start running the damn ball with Oliver Ham and Kelly back. Will Raget Sports Illustrated. Uh here’s a question I asked Kevin McConnell about short yardage play calling. And here’s his lengthy answer. The last thing you want to do is run the ball for the sake of doing it and have it not be as productive as you would hope. Just get some things in a statistical column. Well, how about you be efficient running the football? How about that? Or how about especially that start of the second half against the Ravens when you got the run game going. How about that? Now, now again, I I do not bismerch him at all for taking that third and one shot. You’re going to take that every time Jefferson just fell down. You’re probably going to get on fourth and one anyway, but you just running the ball consistency. That’s been uh an issue for the three and a half years of the Kevin McConnell Quido Fmensa regime. And you have the talent. You got the Hoses up front and Aaron Jones is looking great. Jordan Mason got the hammer. Law and Order. CJ Ham is back. Oliver is back. Why can’t we just bash in the the absolute defense of the opponent every single week? Just run the damn ball. Opposite side. So, Caleb Williams has some great things to say about Brian Flores. Also, what’s the deal with all these former Vikings becoming pro bowlers? Ed Ingram, Garrett Bradberry, Beasy, Denil Hunter. Oh, yeah. And Sam Darnold, all that stuff. All three, all the other three NFC North teams will be in kind of like last year, but Lions will be a three seed hosting the Bears. Uh, the Packers will be the seven seed on the road against Seattle. demolition man. The the Rams would destroy the Bucks. Uh Eagles allegedly would have the one seed. Uh and then AFC one seed uh Colts uh seven seed Jaguars at the at the Broncos, Bills, Patriots yet again, Chargers, Steelers. Uh and also what’s funny is that the Super Bowl favorites right now in the wagering markets, it’s well, it’s either the Rams or in a lot of spots, it’s still the Chiefs. The Chiefs aren’t even in the playoff bracket technically right now, which is wild, man. Yeah. Uh but also, we’re not giving up. We’re never going to give you up. Never going to let you down. But as of right now, the Vikings have the number 14 pick for Tankathon. We’re ignoring all that. Also, I love that the Rams So, the Rams goddamn good team and have a chance to be making a run at a Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford is playing above the rim. Also, they have the Falcons first round pick. So I I mean they can win the Super Bowl. Well, they’re not because the Vikings going to win the Super Bowl and also have a top five pick because Atlanta is ass right now. It’s beautiful, man. It’s beautiful. Opposite of beautiful. The crooked Chicago Bears going to make a nice rug. You can eat bare meat. You just got to cook it thoroughly so you don’t get triggerosis, all that stuff. But Sunday’s going to be really tough and you have to respect the the crooked Chicago Bears because I mean they’re six and three allegedly. And I mean look at their resume. the Cowboys without CD, the Raiders, uh the commies who are terrible, last second deal, uh the Saints who are terrible, the the Bengals who are terrible, and the Giants who are terrible, but so many just put it on the Vanguard, just statement wins, signature wins over just juggernauts, right there. There’s absolutely nothing fake or phony about the six and three Chicago Bears. So, the Vikings gonna have to strap it up. They’re gonna have to strap in, maybe strap on. I don’t know. All the straps. Everything is gonna have to be good to go. Mind your P’s and Q’s, right? Because Sunday’s a got to have it. You got to have a Sunday. Uh, and you know, the Vikings are two games back in the NFC North. They’re already one up on the Bears. They’re one up on the Lions. They got the Packers next week. got to start doing some damage in division, right? And the Vikings having their offensive line as healthy as it can be. I think we can make a run of this thing.
