Brendan Dillon fined $5000 for boarding against Bertuzzi
November 13, 2025
I’ll never understand how a minor penalty can result in a maximum fine. If there’s a fine, it shouldn’t have been a minor, and if it truly is a minor, there shouldn’t be a fine.

Elbow to the back of the head and hit from behind.. should have been a 5 min major and game misconduct. Was very shocked it wasn’t called that way.. This fine is basically an admission that they got it wrong..
Right call on the fine, wrong call on the ice.
Should have been a major and a game for elbowing or boarding (your choice).
It’s just nice to see some action on it imo. Wrong assessment on ice unfortunately, so to me this is the best the league can do. Shouldn’t be issuing suspensions if the call on the ice was a minor, even if that’s the wrong call
My dad was a hockey ref for 20+ years and the expletives thrown at the tv were extension last night 😂 that should have been a 5 min major at minimum.
If it looks borderline, the Refs should have called it a major and then looked at the video.
He left his feet to deliver an elbow to the back of the head. That should have warranted a suspension.
That’s it? Mfer left his feet with a flying elbow from behind
THANK GOODNESS. That was AWFUL
When are these goddamned refs ever going to be held accountable for their bad calls? No explanation or accountability means people are going to question their bank accounts. And you know what? That’s a fair and reasonable reaction at this point. This is what you get when you put Circa on our jerseys. But Bettman won’t do shit because he’s too busy taking naps and having “meetings” at nice restaurants.
Also kept running into Bedard, he was playing really dirty
Shoulda been a five minute major at the time
I understand it. The guy threw an elbow, and slow motion you can see it was deliberate. At game pace it’s not obvious. Also, obstructed angles can cause referees to miss some of the things. At the time I thought he should have gotten five minutes and a game miscounduct. Looked yo me like he had intent to injure.
