  3. Wild how much better this team plays the more flippantly they throw pucks towards the net, chase rebounds and sustain zone time off of those flippant attempts towards goal…let’s not go through another skid in order to re-learn this lesson, again. Please.

  5. Hope Gibsons okay, looked really good last night. Obviously hoping for a bit more consistency from the goalies, but I do think the likelihood of the Wings having a goalie on a hot streak or able to snap into a great performance are higher than before

  8. Anaheim acts pretty scummy / angry every time they play the Wings I feel like. Not in the way of a bunch of clear dirty hits and headshots, etc…. But I feel like they’re always just doing some bullshit after the whistle and between the whistle. Always trying to go after guys randomly, idk just a lot of salt and ticky tacky shit

  10. If you only include the top 50 defensive pairs by ice time, the Ed – Seider pairing is 1st in the league in xG%. If you open that up to all 1st and 2nd pairings (top 64 pairs by ice time) Ed and seider are 2nd.

  11. As happy as I am that we won, our biggest issue is consistency. Theres been many times this season and the last few where the team loses horribly and we then play a strong game afterwards but then let old habits seep in. Todd said it best in the presser before the game, we need to keep improving game after game and keep the bar high.

    Hopefully they figure out a way to keep playing how they played last night.

    Also side note, im wondering if Brayden schenn may be a decent target for a trade. Apparently the blues may be making him available.

  14. Thought the 4th line was great last night, Berggren especially. They all bring something a little different and once they figured out how to play effectively they meshed well. Also probably helps that we have guys in GR and the press box breathing down their necks for a chance to steal their spot. 

    I know Gibson took a couple shots off the mask but I’m guessing it might ne groin related from when Sennecke hit him based on the timing. Either way hope he’s back soon, not the best looking numbers for him last night, but big saves at big moments on prime chances

  19. Sat in the Labatt Blue Club last night, capitalized on that ticket promo they did where it was $58 instead of the usual $250++

    Nicer than I expected, ain’t no way I’d ever pay that much to sit there. They had stuff to make gyros, and stuff to make nachos (and not like ballpark nachos either, the chips and the cheese were actually quality) hot dogs, coney dogs, Italian and polish sausage. Free labatt in 12 oz cups. I had 8 of them. Popcorn, pop, chips, cotton candy. Was pretty awesome to be walking by the cotton candy and be like, this is mine now. I took 2 of them home.

    I had about 20 baklavas. Bought a stadium series jersey that was on sale. Wife got lots of compliments on her Finnie jersey. Watched the Wings win and walked home.

    Next time I’m bringing Tupperware and I’m packing as much food out as possible, because fuck Chris illitch

  20. I hope they find someone else to play 2C besides Compher, don’t think kane and him work well together. why not kasper or danielson?. Also i’m pretty sure danielson favorite player is kane so that would be cool to see him play with his idol.

  23. We had 3 third lines yesterday… and the second line was the worst of them. Why not try these lines out that put us on a huge winning streak before Copp’s injury last year:

    Kasper-Larkin-Raymond

    Cat-Copp-Danielson

    Finnie-Compher-Appleton

    JVR/Soda/Burgers-Ras-Kane

    2 secondary assists for Kane on the powerplay yesterday, BUT a minus 2. Need to limit his EV ice time as much as possible

  24. Honestly one of the biggest delusions this sub has is that Berggren has gotten time on the 2:nd and 1:st lines and that his performance there makes him less likely to get more.

  25. What I’ve noticed about ASP in the defensive zone is pretty simple: he sticks to his man like glue, almost too much. When the puck comes near him or an additional opposing puck-carrier enters his space, he rarely tries to poke it loose or cut off the lane. He just stays locked onto his assignment and waits for the teammate responsible for that puck carrier to recover. That doesn’t always work. He needs to recognize when to step in and support, instead of playing so rigid and one-dimensional because he’s afraid of abandoning his own assignment.

    The good news? He’s learning under Trent, and he leads the team in even-strength points among defensemen (not counting empty netters). Just needs to keep learning, and growing his confidence.
