I think Aaron Glenn is actually showing real signs of improvement

  1. I think he has, but he’ still an asshole when he doesnt need to be (trying so hard to emulate Parcells) and the biggest question is going to be can he get the QB right and given his devotion to Fields, I dont see it.

  2. It’s weird, sometimes I feel like this is one of the worst teams I’ve ever seen, and other times I feel like we’re close to being competitive

  3. He has been. The coaching has been pretty solid the last few Weeks. Team doesnt give up, has them well prepared even on a short week and I’d argue he straight up won the Bengals game with his decision making.

Engstrand has been excellent tbh given the Talent he has to work with. Wilks I hope they move on from but anyone is gonna strugle with the likes of Tony Adams and Oliver against Drake Maye tbh.

  4. They played hard, albeit mostly bad, last night which I think is important to see. If they start quitting on him and playing with no effort then there is cause for concern.

  5. When a team doesn’t fall apart at 0-7 and trading stars for picks then something unusual is happening.

  6. They went from a dumpster fire to a serviceable college team. Glenn doesn’t trust Fields so the offense won’t do anything if they’re not running. The pass defense is pitiful, if the Pats wanted to make a completion, there was nothing the Jets were gonna do yesterday. But firing him after this year would not make any sense, have to give him a couple of years at least.

  7. I think our defense has played a lot better. We need a better interior push. Offense, we need a qb, wr 2/3. Just need to resign breece.

  8. I agree. The team has way more fight and hasn’t rolled over when down. The defense makes adjustments at halftime. There are fewer back breaking penalties on defense. Losing Q though, has destroyed the interior. The Jets need to bring in multiple DTs next year, as no one was able to take advantage of WMAC and JJ collapsing the pocket last night.

It seems that the unnecessary penalties have shifted to the OL playing past the whistle this season. Continuing with the offense, the scheme is evident/modern; with a league average QB, would probably be middle of the pack.

I don’t want to get a head of myself, but there is a culture forming.

  9. Agree.

That said… it’s hard not to think they might have been even more competitive last night if they had gone to Taylor.

    Maybe there’s a reason they didn’t.

Maybe Taylor’s knee still isn’t right.

  10. He’s learning on the job. Honestly, I feel like the defense has “improved” a bit. But the offense is just cheeks.

  11. I agree, I’ve definitely seen some improvement. It’s clear that we have a talent issue that is even worse with the trades and Wilson being out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we squeeze out two more wins this season. Maybe New Orleans, or Miami/Atlanta/Bills (week 18 with playoff position secured).

  12. Fucking god, this is the coaching equivalent of “Justin Fields took us to 2 wins after 7 straight losses, could he be our starter next year?”

They’re both terrible & Aaron Glenn is a dumbass

  13. I have to be honest, I didn’t like him but he’s showing improvement. So I’m down to trust the process but still don’t think we take a QB this year

  14. The problem for me is the justin fields situation. Every time I start to feel positive about things I think of that. Hes the worst qb ive ever seen play. I cant believe hes worse than Zach. Hes also worse than hes ever been.
    Is that the coach’s fault?

  15. I think Glenn is the right guy for the team. The team itself? Glenn’s working with a bad hand of players.

  16. Im gonna say something even more controversial, i like the way he attacks the media. Too many times beat reporters caused unnecessary drama and now they get offended when someone bites back.

  17. I agree. I can’t help but feel with sauce and q the defense maybe actually stops that first NE touchdown and the whole tone of the game shifts

  18. Absolutely yes. Penalties were bad last night but before then hadn’t been an issue since week 3 or so. Defense consistently playing better, just stood up to a good offense this week (could’ve been better with complimentary support).

Special teams unit clearly playing well, ultimately the only problem is…. losing. And defending the pass consistently well. Obviously in fairness we give him some leeway on those two things because our QB is bad and they just traded away his two best defensive players. But yes, promising improvement.

  19. I don’t know how anyone can watch last night and see that it wasn’t simply a talent issue.

FAR more talented Jets teams have lost way worse to the Patriots in these scenarios. That’s on coaching. Obviously not perfect but I thought they generally had them in position to play and win.

I think if you had even average QB play from Fields last night they win the game.

  20. So hard to grade. Lot of massive holes and talent issues on this team. But it seems like the team is growing and showing signs of getting better. AZ Thomas looks somewhat promising. Brownlee struggled last night but looks like a good pickup. AD Mitchell and Metchie need work but they seem to fit into the scheme, even with Fields not bringing much to the table. I like the direction so far, but next year will matter more. I figured this year would he a wash but next year is when we need to start really seeing something more definitive. Let’s go Jets!

  21. Justin is weird, he has these moments and you think he’s going to pull it off. Like the first drive that lead to the TD. Super efficient. Threw when he was supposed to, ran when he was supposed to. Scripted plays looked good. Then it just fell apart. I don’t get it.

  22. People don’t realize how bad the talent is on this team. Outside of O Line , GW, JJ and maybe McD, no one on this team is starting on any other team The fact that we still play hard and are not getting blown out every week is a testament to this new regime

  23. He actually is taking the ‘CEO’ head coach position seriously. I’ve always thought it was a bit crazy that guys take on full playcalling duties while also being head coach. A coordinator is a full time job, and a head coach is more than a full time job.

He needs to get rid of Wilks after the season but he’s clearly working on accountability within the team. The guys are buying in and he has enough time to focus on getting the little things right.

I wanted him fired at the beginning of the season but I’m slightly encouraged now.

  24. I agree. The fact that the team is still playing hard and hasn’t fallen apart is a plus for me. The saleh coached teams felt less mentally strong. Next year with hopefully a QB that can throw a forward pass will be the bigger test for him.

  25. Yes and no. There are still lot of rookie mistakes still happening and the team still looks undisciplined. But defense has looked better and they mostly lost to the Pats because they were just better and not because we made stupid decisions.

  26. Honestly no one should want him fired.

If you’re optimistic about his future, give him more time to get his system in place and bring in players that fit better.

If you’re pessimistic, why fire him and get some other coach while we still suck? Let him be a transitional coach, and hire another coach when we have a QB we’re actually excited about

  27. They’ve really only been blown out in one game this year, Buffalo in Week 2, and he’s won two games with Justin Fields as his QB which feels incredible.

  28. I started off very meh on the higher and I think I’m warming up a bit. Less penalties and good player but in over the last few weeks + clear improvements in in game management as the season has gone on have me feeling good about the future. The roster is just not good and we’ve traded our best players but we still came out and fought yesterday and didn’t get completely rolled over. The Justin fields thing is the only part that I can’t get my head around. Maybe tyrod is slightly injured and we just don’t really know it or it’s something else but that is the glaring issue I have right now
