  1. everyone running here to say dodgers, it doesn’t really fit. He’s said to wanna strikeout Ohtani and be better than Yoshi. Dodgers are already deep at SP and probably won’t add an expensive 5 when they have so much depth coming back. Padres will be the biggest comp for him imo. Toronto will play for him as well.

  2. He’s ranked no.20 on Ben Clements Fangraphs top free agents and below Grisham, Gleyber, King, Gallen, Shota, and Merrill Kelly among others

  3. As they should be. Good stuff, opportunity to get back into the NPB market. Would help fortify the SP

  4. easily my #1 get after Belli/Tucker. Imai, Cole, Schlittler, Rodon, Fried would be a filthy rotation.

  5. I get people are “traumatized” but can we stop the “he’s going to the Dodgers” comments every time we want to discuss a Japanese player? All it does it halt and stop any discussions.

  6. Do the Yankees really need starting pitching all that bad? With Cole back (even if he’s slow to ramp up at first), Fried, Rodon, Schlittler, Gil, Warren, and a few others in the pipeline? You can never have enough, sure, but IMO they have bigger needs and can even afford to bring Cole along solely because of all that quality depth.

  7. I don’t think just money gets it done. A lot of pitchers sign because they believe in the pitching development system. Fried signed because Blake had a plan for him that agreed with his tinkering system. If Imai thinks Blake can unlock another level he will be Yankee.

  8. Boras client. Of course Heyman is saying that. In a few days it will be half of baseball.
