Aaron Glenn Postgame Press Conference (11/13) | New York Jets at New England Patriots | Week 11

All right. Uh, no injuries to talk about. Um, when it comes to this game, uh, give those guys a lot of credit. Um, that is a well coached team, uh, that has a quarterback that’s playing really, really well, which we all knew. Um, defensively they did a really good job. Um, and we got to do a better job just across the board. There were a number of things uh within that game and I’m just talking coaches and players that we got to do a better job of. So, um, we have this little mini break that we have. Uh, I we come back on Monday when we get to work and we’ll have an extra bonus day to get some work in. Um, but man, the one thing that really just sticks out is details and discipline. that was a box that we didn’t check off today. Um, and we have to look at those things, coaches and players alike, and uh, do a better job there. So, uh, looking forward to getting back, uh, Monday, uh, looking at this film, um, getting to Monday, getting to work, and getting ready to move on to our next game. Any questions? Yeah, you’re you looked that first drive was, you know, seemingly textbook that Tanner had scripted, but it seemed like there the the following drives in the first half you got away from Justin running the ball a little bit. What was going on there? Yeah. Well, the thing is we don’t want to make a habit of our quarterback just continue to run because we can put him in harm’s way. Um, but the thing is the plan was to get the ball and I wanted to get it first and I want I want the offense to get the ball first. And the reason why is when you look at how they operated, they’ve had six times their defense on the field. It was three touchdowns and and two field goals. So, I felt like if we get a fast start that we’ll be in a good position. Um, and Justin ran the ball quite a bit. You know, the thing is, man, we we can’t put Justin in a situation where he’s a running back, and I think we all know that because we’ll put him in harm’s way. So, um, but he did a good job. I mean, you’re right. He did a good job on some of those runs. We just have to be very calculated on when we do those things. You talk about details and discipline. Are you referring to penalties or is there something else? Well, just across the board. Um, I have very high standards uh for our team in general and um that’s the one thing that we talk about quite a bit and I will never uh go away from those standards and the players know that and they have bought into that and they know that too. And when I say details and discipline, again, I’m not just talking about the players. I’m talking about us as coaches too. We have to make sure that we’re on um we’re on the same page and we’re doing the the things that we have to do to help those guys. So, um, this is not a one-way street where everything is on the players. You know, coaches is involved in that, too. I know you have to watch the film, but how do you think Justin played overall? Listen, there are some good things. Um, that’s some really good things. I thought he put some balls out there, and we got to have some guys that make some plays for him, too. Um, obviously, I know for a fact that he’s going to say there’s some things that he could have done better. Again, we do have to watch the tape, but I thought there was some good things he did out there. What were some of the issues that contributed to I think it was 116 yards passing only. So what were some of the issues that contributed to the struggles with the passing? Yeah. Uh again, I’ll go back and say, you know, there’s some things I’m sure Justin’s going to say, man, I could have done better. I could have made some plays, but then again, man, there were some plays out there that our guys got to make for him also. Um and you’ll be able to see that, you know, as you go back and watch this tape. And again, we’re all accountable for that. you know, as far as uh coaches make sure we put our guys in the right position. Uh the receivers make sure they catch the ball and then we can say Justin make sure he getting the ball to some other guys. But um to me that was really it cuz there were some plays out there to be made. I thought he had some good some really good throws. We just got to finish those things. Defensively, I know the quarterback’s playing at a high level right now, but that he had some guys running wide open. What What did you see secondary break? You know what? I I that I really have to watch the tape to give you a true answer on that. Um and I’m not trying to run away from that answer at all. Um but that did happen. It was it was a number of plays where guy was running and that that that bothers me. It it really does. So, uh we have to clean that up. Um cuz you can’t let any quarterback, you know, have those type of wide open receiver, especially him because he uh he will find them. So, um like that can be a part of who we are, you know, and it it’s um it was unacceptable. the the pass rush not getting home. Do you think that was a a result of the protection holding up or was it just kind of Drake moving around within the pocket to very obvious that they were they were worried about Will and you see he got chipped a number of times. Um when he does get the chip, we got to have other guys to go out there and make plays. And I would say this too, we were we were back there a couple of times to make it, man, we just missed the plays and that’s something that we got to do a better job of is finishing, you know. So, and I told our guys that when we went in the half, but there were a number of times we should have had the quarterback coral and we should have had him on the ground and we didn’t finish the play. Mitchell, a couple more. Mitchell got in there uh with his debut. What were your takeaways on his um listen, he’s a big fast um he’s going to be a good player for us. I mean, he he he missing balls today and I think we all saw that. Um him being here for two weeks and have truly a week of really going out there and practicing. Um, we got to get him back out there and do more, but I think he will tell you himself that he got to make some of those plays that was thrown to him. Uh, and we got to do a better job of trying to get him open. Also, you said some nice things about Drake. Uh, and you saw it on tape. What about who? Drake May, sorry. What did you see in person like striking about him? Oh, nothing different. You know, we know he’s a good player, so nothing different. Thanks, everyone. Justin. All right. All right, folks. Justin, how would you assess your performance tonight? Not good enough. Um, you know, we lost a game, so it wasn’t good enough. Every time we lose, my performance isn’t good enough. What was working on that first drive? cuz it seemed like you had some rhythm and just kind of momentum

  1. My thing is if Glenn is serious about winning there’s no way he can start Fields next week. I actually do want him to start because it helps the tank but man this dude can’t play the QB position at all.

  2. I need Ty Simpson or Mendoza to play QB for this team next year. Enough already with the bullshit veterans and reclamation projects. And don’t give me this crap of “wait till 2027” I refuse to believe people are hyped up about Sayin leading that draft class as the best QB and don’t give me that Arch Manning bullshit shit, the guy has been ass and will be ass in the NFL.

  3. You cannot say that JF did a good job today, our OL held up good and you can look back to see open WR, what youll see following is JF panicking and checking the ball down 3 yards behind the sticks on a 3rd down. He cannot throw a ball, he cannot scan the field, he doesnt look comfortable in the pocket at all causing a lot of these mistakes. Yes we had some drops that affected his stats but thatll happen on any team (it happened with the Pats today) and yet we are celebrating that at least this game he had triple digit passing yards, let alone positive passing yards. Its embarrassing to watch, i can excuse the defense giving up some big plays if our offense could respond, but our offense doesnt. It is ready to run like a greased machine but is held back by JF being incompetent in passing. Please bench him, I love the guy but he cant continue playing how he did and still be QB1.

  4. I've seen fields ball out many times and he can chuck it. He's smashed us before on the bears. It's not Justin lol😂 y'all think it's him …um honey it's you. Go pats fuck the jets u suck and we're born losers not my fault it's yours

  5. If the receivers don’t drop 7 passes. Justin Fields finishes 22-26 238 yards and leads the team with 67 yards and scored twice. And is still blamed for the loss. That’s how dumb this fanbase is.

  6. TRUST ME…..I GET “the ball hit him in his hands and he SHOULDA CAUGHT it” but on the first one AD literally had to come to a stop to catch it and the second ball was just AWFULY BEHIND someone who was wide open.

  7. Defensive penalty on 4th down, multiple D holding flags, roughing ball carrier, dropped balls on Offense, 12 men on the field after the 2:00 time out, sub average special team play. Can't have all this stuff and win. Good starting drive.

  8. Man, that Full Back improved a lot from last week. Threw for 105 total yards. Double from last week. What more do you want? If he was a QB obviously that counts for worst passing rating among all current NFL QBs. But be realistic, he is a FB at the end of the day. If Glen was a smart man he would start the backup .

  9. Hate to say it but my boy field is gonna be warming the bench in a headset next year. He would have to be otherworldly every week to even be able to sniff a starting job next year

  10. Another year down the drain.
    Wasted year.
More and more and more excuses.
    Horrible expectations.
The Jets have a 2nd string Quarterback as a starting Quarterback.
I hope the Jets don't spend 3 years with this guy.

  11. The Jets are only good when Justin makes one read and then immediately scrambles. When he doesn’t scramble they lose. They don’t have good receivers besides GW.

  12. Imagine Jet fans who will tell this Fields he is not a QB its brutal man why these gms and coaches continue to put him there terrible BRUTAL TO WATCH

  13. The glaring thing to me personally is that Aaron Glenn sounds like he had no belief on really attempting to actually winning this game but more so happy that he wasn’t embarrassed on national television. These moral victories are getting old.

  14. How do we think Justin field's give us the best chance to win. Enough is enough with this clown he clearly doesn't have what it takes to win and the defense in the secondary are totally lost on what to do .new England receivers are wide open every play 🤯

  15. I wonder if AG wants to reconsider his treatment of Aaron Rodgers? Fields is the worst starting QB in the game by a wide margin. Terrible offense worse coaching
