In a story done today by ESPN about the fall of Brian Daboll as the Giants head coach, Daboll reportedly exploded on Mike Kafka after their loss to the Eagles last month and threatened to take away his playcalling abilities: “One player recently told ESPN of Daboll exploding and threatening to take away playcalling from assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka after tight end Theo Johnson dropped a crucial third-down pass downfield against the Eagles.”

    It wouldn’t have been the first time Daboll had stripped Kafka of his playcalling abilities, as he had done in parts of 2023 and all of 2024. John Mara urged Daboll to give them back to Kafka for 2025. Daboll’s temper was a bit of a well-known thing, especially when it came to assistant coaches. The entire drama between Daboll and former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has been well documented. Daboll also was once seen on the sidelines throwing a tablet at the direction of former QB Daniel Jones following an interception.

    Daboll’s emotions got the better of him in 2025, as he was fined $100K earlier in the season for attempting to go into the blue medical tent, which really didn’t appear to help matters.
    Bottom line: Even with the emotional outbursts, Brian Daboll didn’t win enough games and didn’t show progress as the head coach of the Giants, especially at the end of his tenure and now he is no longer the head coach.

    Now with a new mindset and vision this team can only go up from here. I say get Dart another receiver that isn’t short. Dual threat the division and end the Eagles long story drama early as we send them home.
