Behind Rice, Moss, and Megatron probably in the 4-5 range with TO.
Inside top 20 probably top 15
all time? top 10. absolutely. took whatever roddy white did here, and fucking magnified it.
4-10ish for now. Some of the current guys will prob pass him.
Of his era I think only Megatron was better.
Top 10. He is behind Moss, TO, Calvin, Fitzgerald, Rice, Steve Smith and Marvin Harrison.
Unbiased 1
1
The back end of Top 15.
In all honesty, from a skill, ability, and dominance standpoint, he should be number 3 behind Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, seriously. He was the closest thing to a modern Jerry Rice.
He was huge, fast, could run every route, had great hands… he could play in ANY offense, phenomenal run blocker, impossible to press. Just a beast man.
Only people I would for sure place ahead of him are Rice, Moss, and Megatron. Only others that are reasonable to argue after that imo would be TO, Julio, and prime AB. After that I’d mark Fitzgerald at the gatekeeper.
1. Rice
2.Moss
3. Owens, Harrison, Cris Carter, Calvin Johnson
4.Fitz, AB, Largent, Hopkins
I’d say he’s at the bottom of tier 3 or top of tier 4. At his absolute peak he’s probably a top 4 talent, but the lack of touchdowns hurts him relative to other hall of fame guys
Top 5
Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Larry and then Julio.
But if we go prime for prime. Julio is probably 2 or 3. Rice, Julio and Megatron at their best are leagues above the rest imo.
A lot higher if he’d toughed out more third downs. I watched our #1 receiver standing on the sideline panting catching his fucking breath on 3rd and 6 while we had a chance to win the fucking NFC way too many times. Roddy White > Julio. He ain’t a more talented receiver but he was a better football player.
And fuck him for begging for a new contract 2 years after we made him the highest paid receiver in the NFL. Bullshit.
Top 5 of his era, Top 15-20 all time
16th all time in yards. 28th all time in receptions. 62nd all time in touchdowns. His best statistical career achievement is that he’s 6th all time in yards per game. There were 3 WRs in his era alone, that were arguably as good. (Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, AB) And all those career standings are with guys like Mike Evans and Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase still playing and racking up stats. I know it’s era relative but it’s an okay thing to point out. Heck, Evans and Jones weren’t far apart in draft years.
I hate it. I loved Julio. But outside of Atlanta the idea of him being a lock top 5 WR all time are wild to me. And I don’t think it’s some universal idea that he’s that. He was a big deal for his time. Don’t get me wrong. Great WR. But he’s more like top 15 to 25 and I don’t think most Atlanta fans see it that way.
If you’re talking sheer talent and ability factored in then yeah I get it. But like he didn’t really have the career fans think when you get compartive and big picture about it. He had an amazing stretch.
Probably somewhere in the 7-5 range
Probably top 20. Jerry is the GOAT cause those stats will never be touched. Using that same logic, Julio is low because he’s only 62nd all time for TDs. If this man had 20 more TDs(putting him 19th all time) I’d rank him higher.
If we are talking who you’d want for 1 game? Top 5 for sure.
I just love that there is so much discussion about it and that it was so fun to watch him play. He’s top 5 in my book but I watched him play every Sunday.
Falcons, I’d say number 1.
NFL as a whole, probably between top 10 and 15
I think there may be some recency bias , because Julio was as dominant as they come when he was in his prime.
While only #16 in career yardage, he was averaging 100 yards a game for most of his career before he fell off. Jerry Rice said he was the best receiver he ever saw play.
Even if he should have been on the field for more 3rd downs or had more TDs (that’s partly because Ryan would spread the ball around if they were going to bracket Julio in the redzone, plus he sucked at throwing fades), but Ryan and Julio should have won us a Superbowl (came close in 2012 too) with offensive lines and defenses held together by ductape.
I posted this video in the original thread, but [here’s 3 and a half minutes of highlightz](https://youtu.be/B84-mn0oLeI?si=Xvej8IQauRJfGBeA) just of Julio as a defender. The dude was a machine.
Easily top 10, maybe even sneak into the top five just in terms of sheer dominance when he was in his prime, really only him and Megatron who were absolute athletic freaks that could just steamroll teams.
In his prime. Dude was probably top 5-10 range.
If it’s prime I’d say top 5 with rice, moss, Johnson, and Harrison. But longevity and lack of touchdowns holds him to around that top 15 range
Goat means goat
Why is Moss such a popular pick as a top 3? He wasn’t better than Julio, megatron, or AB.
We gotta stop acting like Jerry rice is still in the top 3 lol
His chase down of an INT from his own end zone is epic.
