One positive from yesterday: AD Mitchell got open numerous times vs Gonzalez

  1. I liked the Mitchell portion of the trade. Yes, he has some issues – but he has talent as well. Could be a more than serviceable WR3 if we’re able to find some talent in the draft.

He needs to be coached up hard, but I like the pick up.

  2. Other than that one horrendous drop / pass through the hands he did really well. His QB sucks though

  3. Its crazy what one drop can do. If he secures that catch, I think it changes the entire game and narrative around him.

  4. He’s always had a concentration issue. Definitely the second best WR in that draft with the talent to be the best

  5. He showed a lot of promise getting open but his catching abilities don’t give me confidence yet.

    Metchie looked clutch though.

  6. JJ got a sack that’s a real positive, what’s up with this artificial push for this 2nd round bust??

I’m thinking brick pushed for this trade

  7. Jets fans writting him off after one game is so wild when he showed that he has a ton of talent. I totally think when he gets a better QB who can throw correct balls (outside of the Fields deep ball that he should have caught all the others were weird or bad throws) he will be a solid WR2 option on the outside

  8. Might be just chemistry issue. The deep ball I don’t think he expected. The back shoulder throw was 10/10 difficulty. Otherwise there’s promise there for sure

  9. 2 drops is rough but we’ve seen all pros have games where they do that. It happens. If it starts to happen consistently is when I’ll be more critical.

  10. It always boggles my mind when a receiver makes it to this level and doesn’t know how to catch the ball.

  11. Both him and Metchie get open a lot which is good. The first drop was bad but with the second and third one I’m not gonna be that hard on him. One was an absolutely terrible throw that required him to twist around his body to adjust to and the other one was a fucking missle that also wasnt exactly on the numbers.

Drops are fixable just keep giving him targets. There is definitely WR3 potential here.

  12. I actually think the drops last night are all potentially attributable to underdeveloped chemistry with Fields. On the deep bomb he loses his separation by turning his head early to track the ball and Gonzo is able to close the distance and make the catch harder. On the route over the middle he turns away from the ball early bc he doesn’t trust that Fields didn’t throw a hospital pass. On the wheel route, the “drop”, was a hard adjustment that you don’t necessarily expect a catch out of. His ability to separate is elite. His physical attributes are elite. I’m willing to reserve judgement before concluding he can’t be a functional WR2.

  13. The drops were excruciatingly frustrating but I agree I think we have something to work with here

  14. His drops were bad but he looked very good speed wise and route running. In the end a WR that drops the ball is useless but he did show me something. There might be something there.

Metchie was very good as well.

  15. According to stats it doesn’t seem that drops have been an issue for Mitchell. Last night wasn’t a good look though. I still have hope.

  16. Well his claim to fame is currently dropping a ball before crossing the goal line.

We gotta see him catch it & then hold it.

However of all the flawed Jets WRs in history, he’s currently my favorite

  17. Mechi looked good to honestly moving forward if we could somehow get a quarterback that can throw the ball we might actually be all right next year. Not great but definitely trending in the right direction. I’m not going to lie I’m usually pretty embarrassed to tell people I’m a Jets fan but these last four or five weeks these boys made me proud. Even in the games we lost you could tell we’re fighting like hell.

  18. “Hands of Stone”
Dude does not use his hands. Seems he wants the ball to hit his body when catching it

  19. Dude is as talented as they come. Just a matter of that can translate to consistent play. It hasn’t yet, and don’t hold your breath.

  20. My friend who is a die hard colt fan says he will be open a lot and he will drop a lot of balls. I honestly will take it maybe he can fix the drops but hard to find guys who create separation like he can.

  21. As a Patriots fan I’m jealous and would love to have him on the roster. He has such obvious talent and his issues feel correctable as he hopefully matures. If he can just start catching the ball him and Garrett Wilson could be such a dangerous WR tandem…feels we havnt had any dynamic receivers in forever
