In 1980, Al Hrabosky took his award winning mustache up a notch with this epic hairdo.
I love how practically every pitcher in the 70s looked like they spent all their free time working on their Firebird and trying to get into amateur porn.
I have a Polaroid pic of him taken in the mid to late 70’s. I’m not sure why he was picked to go on this tour. It was taken at a JCP in Iowa and yes, I am in it, and will not be sharing it.
Boy. Relief pitchers were used differently back then
I remember him going behind the mound to psych himself up and turn and stalk to the mound. The was one game I recall where bases were loaded with no outs and he struck out the next three batters and crowd was going crazy.
He was traded for Buck Martinez to KC in 77. Go Blue Jays đź’™

Thought that was Dennis Eckersley for a second
Anyone remember when he played for the Tropics as part of the Senior Professional Baseball Association (“Senior League”, if you will) in Florida, circa-1990? Those were some fun times watching a boatload of former MLB players who still had some gas in the tank for about two years. The league folded far too soon.
You can NOT post this without the game Hungo was on the mound, in 1974, when Ted Simmons clocked Bill Madlock in “[some wild shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQbN1qlFSo8),” followed by benches emptying, in one of the greatest Cards-Cubs games ever.
I remember one game against the Mets at Shea they walked Lou Brock intentionally with two outs to get him to bat and he hit an RBI single. Then the game became a blowout and he batted again in the ninth inning and hit another RBI single. It’s funny if some rando DH had gotten those hits I would have no recollection of that game at all.

Loved watching him as an Atlanta Brave!
