Miami Heat Get Smoked On Glass By Knicks | Norman Powell Scores 38 Points | Nikola Jović Struggles

Welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel on this somber Friday night as your Miami Heat they lose to the New York Knicks in an NBA Cup game 140 to 132. Another highscoring affair for your Miami Heat. Um, but another game where the Miami Heat just absolutely just get killed on the offensive glass. And it’s actually funny. I’m like looking at the final box score and it doesn’t look like it. Like you you look like trust me when I tell you like all of the key position like anybody who watched this game tonight and you’re just like ah yeah, dude. It was bad. every swing possession, every time you kept the the Knicks alive, uh, and just giving them more life. It was just an absolute absolute backbreaker for the Miami Heat. Um, and, you know, another opportunity where you have, you know, you’re down right now. The Heat are down, guys. That’s that’s fine. But they’ve gotten a couple of breaks these last couple of games where, you know, they had the Cavs intentionally resting against them and they spit the bit in the fourth quarter there. And then this one today, you had no Jaylen Brunson coming in. You had uh OG Anobi leave in the first quarter or early second. So, he basically didn’t play this game. And the Miami Heat watched Carl Anthony Towns have a monster first half, but Landry Shamut, yes, Landry Shamut came out in the second half of this game and looked like a cross between Steph Curry, Allen Iverson, and Jesus Shuttlesworth, dude. Like, he was unfaking believable. 30 second half points for Landry Shamut and the Knicks beat the Heat and send the Miami Heat to seven and six on the season. A disappointing loss in Madison Square Garden for the Heat. Um and and it’s not, you know, there’s just such a fatal flaw with this Heat team. You know, this wasn’t the best performance all around on on on, you know, reliability from the Heats offense for sure. I mean, Norman Powell, he almost scored 40 38 points today, but you know, you know, there was some mop up there. He he again got off to a fast start. It was great. I mean, like look, I don’t want to Norm Norm was solid. Haime a pretty solid game off the bench. You know, you’re going to look at these scoring games and you’re going to be like, “Yeah, this is great.” But the the Heat, it it feels like the trend of these games, these last two games, is the Heat dictate the start of the game and they feel like they’re off to a good start or if the the other team that they can kind of balance out, then the Heat will get slowed up a little bit. And then these last two fourth quarters when you really do need to get stops and end possessions, they just can’t do it. And they just keep giving these teams new life and new life and new life. And every single game, the team is getting up 10 more shots than the Miami Heat. You know, 10 to 15 more attempts than the Miami Heat. And it’s just not it’s just not a sustainable recipe. Like today, New York put up 104 shots to Miami’s 95. Miami does, you know, the Miami and the and the free throws are pretty even. They had a pretty big edge in that early on, especially in the third quarter. But yeah, it’s just I I’ve I’ve I’ve been exhausted watching these last couple of games and especially this game. This game started at 7:00 today or 7:10ish and nearly ended at uh 9:50 9:45 I think is when when the final buzzer sounded. It’s a long basketball game for for no overtime. It just was it just uh it was just, you know, draining to see Miami get into this game with the Knicks. Um and yeah, very very frustrating loss for Miami. It’s uh for those who are keeping score, it’s one is their record in the Cub. They’re plus eight because of their 18-point win. Um, as of right now, looks like the Bucks and the Hornets are still playing, but there’s a lot of time left, so I don’t know if I’ll have a cup update for you there. But yeah, man, this one was this one got away from Miami in the fourth quarter. Miami was uh was down. And they won the third quarter in a big back and forth. Every just going back and forth and um it was uh it was it was it was really just frustrating to see all of these possessions get taken, you know, just completely ripped out of Miami because, you know, you’d come up with that initial good stop, but then you got to get two because the Knicks are just tougher rebounders than Miami. And I just I I I I I I can’t I can’t imagine how Udonis Hasslam felt watching this on an Amazon Prime game back in the studio. The captain probably had to be sick to his stomach because I think with Miami, you could see the signs of a lot of good things there. And you could change the offense, you could change the style, but there are still moments in basketball games. And this is what’s really going to show if the Miami Heat are a truly good basketball team, right? Like I give them all the props in the world. I give Eric Sper all the props in the world for reinventing them. But there are some still things that are supposed to be in the soul of this franchise that are not the identity of this team. And the rebounding thing is is supposed to be a non-negotiable. And you know, no bam bio certainly is a big blow to them, but yeah, you need more from everybody. Everybody needs to be just like everybody’s involved in passing the ball and getting everybody open and the great teamwork that’s involved there. And there’s a lot of great stuff that’s done on the ball defensively and and they they got to end these possessions when they get the initial stop. like you’re you’re you’re killing yourself with this game of having to put up all these shots, make all these shots, and then allowing the other team on the other side to get up 10, 12, 15 more shots than you every single night. every single night this happens where the Miami Heat are are allowing teams to to go out there and, you know, keep hope alive for their for their team and and you’re doing you’re doing all this extra work and you think about, you know, the the pace is blistering and the pace is wonderful to watch and all that stuff is great, but it doesn’t mean anything if you can’t kill this snake on the other side. and they just they just weren’t able to today. They got the snot kicked out of them. Everybody on the Knicks played tougher than them. Um and then Landry Shamut was an absolute demon tonight. So, first full swig of the season with the very little I have left. Uh because it is the weekend and that was a tough one to watch. Um, Nico. All right. Uh, Yovic. Wow. Nicola Yovic is that is uh that was a that was one of the worst games I’ve seen him play. Really, really bad from Nico today. Um, and again, I said this, um, I know as, uh, I get bombarded on social media, the card carrying member, the president of the Nicola Yovic fan club, as Tyler Herro, uh, tried to claim that he is, and indeed it seems like it is me because I have to deal with the brunt of all the uh, the backlash. Um, there’s no defending that game. I don’t care what his age is. I don’t care what um, you know, I don’t care that he’s young. He’s got plenty of experience in this league and he he was he was a headcase out there today. Stupid fouls, tickytack fouls. Um was then the thing that I hate and and and I cannot accept this from Nico. I know that he’s a great passer. carried a couple of of beautiful gems out there today, but there are certain matchups and John Crowy calls him out on this all the time that he’s got to put his head down and he’s just got to go attack because it’s most likely going to end up either getting fouled or at the rim something easy around there and it always seems like he’s going to two Cuteville trying to do a crazy whip out pass and uh then you’re left stranded on the other side. He had a he had a really really rough night on the defensive end. Uh typically Nico can be a reliable defender. Um you know, you’ll see the versatility of the guys that they’ll put him on, but today was just one of those days. He it was not it was not his night of the office as most of them have not been. And after the big game against Portland and the game-winning play against it, um the good ones are fewer and far between with him. So, he did not look great. Keshaw Johnson had a couple of stints today. Uh, another guy that I definitely was excited about his season. I really uh I like Keshan’s spirit. I like a lot of the things that he is about, but ultimately on a basketball court, he he also has like deer in headlights, looks just absolutely petrified to be out there. Um the the Heat had to because of Nico’s foul trouble, they put him out there for a couple of stints. Both of them awful. Um Butterfingers with the basketball. Also, for a guy who jumps out the gym in a dunk contest, like can out rebound and grab anybody like that’s going like that’s going to be the young man’s role if he’s going to make it in this league. If he continues to play like this, I don’t know how much of a future is is is left for him in this league if he keeps playing like this. so skit is so scared and the Heat aren’t going to put him out there because the Heat are always going to try and infuse that confidence and we’ve seen him, you know, I I almost think like I don’t know if there’s so much pressure on him to go in there and uh think that he has got to be Haywood Highmith all of a sudden or what, but he doesn’t even, you know, he he is he has been playing uh when in in the in the few stints that you do see him, he has not looked like an NBA player. So, that that has been a excuse me, my contacts keep reshuffling. That was uh that was a tough one to watch from uh from from Kashad tonight. He was uh he was not very impressive. He was not very impressive. And uh you know, I’m not going to pick on him too much because he’s basically the the not even in the rotation. The one thing I would I I I do wonder though, you know, right now the Heat don’t have Bam. People are saying like, “Oh, what about Vlad Golden?” I think if Vladislav Golden, look, dude, if they thought that Vlad Golden could do anything. I think that he would be out there. I understand. Just like throw some size out there, see what he’s got. Hey, it may get to that point a couple of practices, you know, the Heat will be off today. I imagine they’ll practice on Sunday. Maybe it gets to that point that they do that, but um I don’t know. Uh I you know I don’t I don’t necessarily know if your answer is in a two-way center that he got to add some kind of size. But the thing I was wondering and I know this isn’t necessarily his game because he’s not a rebounder but I even think like in those cases where where Nico’s in foul trouble and you got to rely on other big I kind of think you got to go Fonte over Kashad right now. like it just Keshaw today it was two minutes but it was two very obvious minutes that he just looked pretty petrified. So hopefully when they get this next practice in, you know, they can they can get some things worked out there. Not a great day at the office for Andrew Wiggins either. Uh turnovers continue to be an issue for him. Uh he was a team low minus 15 today. It felt it. He wasn’t very efficient. never really got on that scoring streak where you felt reliable for him. And so, you know, these games where you don’t have Bam and you don’t you like, you know, you’re in this firefight with the Knicks and you have Norman Pal and Haime Hawkins is a pretty good game and you’re looking for that that one more guy. They got it from Jordan Clarkson. The Heat, you know, kind of got all over the place. Um, Kell Wear, I feel like every everybody wears a little bit of criticism today. Everybody does. Uh Pella Lararsson played a pretty good game, but he had two real critical turnovers, you know, and it’s tough. Those were his only two turnovers of the game, but they stand out as big swing moments for the Heat. Um so he’s got to wear that, too. DaVon, I thought DaVon was pretty rock solid today, but you know, it was but I think it was mostly, you know, first half damage. I think that they did a much better job of getting around. He was an absolute menace. He he really was the one who kind of got Mitchell Robinson uh as a non as a uh you know off the floor in this game because he he was able to fight through two screens and get calls on offensive foul calls on Mitchell Robinson. Study was he was talking about some ridiculous guy who’s like I thought you know back in my day or some some coach he was talking about was like I uh I don’t think that should count as a foul you know you’re already getting the basketball. It’s like, “All right, dude. You know what? Like, can we can we can we stop with this? Can we just stop changing the rules of basketball every single game?” Stan Van Gundy I actually thought Stan was mostly good on the broadcast today. Um, but that one I was just like, “What? What do you mean? Like we that shouldn’t count as a foul.” Like, and the Okay, because Mitchell Robinson, I understand. And overall, like I’m not going to say this game is on the refs because, you know, the the Heat the Heat wet the bet, right? It’s uh it’s on them. The refs weren’t out there not rebounding for the Heat, standing watching. But the first half um they had a second quarter where Spo had to use two challenges. both he had to blow both of his challenges in the first half of this game and it was really infuriating because there was a scramble to go out of bounds and Simone tells Spo to challenge and Spo has been very much listening to his players. Um there’s a great stat from uh Kitha Ukakumar from uh I think she I think she’s a researcher for Prime. She has a lot of great stats on social media and she tweeted out that when Spo did this, so it was a challenge that went the Heat’s way. It was a ball off Haime but lands off Jordan Clarkson’s foot. So it was heat ball. So the Heat had to use a challenge for that. And then uh it was just a little bit later on where the uh where Yovic got in front of Landry Sh or Yovic was driving to the basket and Landry Shamut was uh you know gets in front of him and they have to challenge that. It was it was pretty close thereafter. It was later on in the quarter. So SP to use two challenges in the in the second quarter. So, both of his challenges were gone by blown calls by the referee. You know, again, I I’m not doing the thing where I’m blaming the I’m just pointing it out. It was a really bad job by them. They also allowed Carl Anthony Towns to pass the ball to himself, which feel like that happened a couple times today for the Knicks. That was pretty crazy, but whatever. I’m not I’m not I’m not complaining. As Eric Sper says, I’m not complaining. I’m just pointing it out. It did happen. So, do with that what you will. And uh but Kithica’s uh stat was that Eric Spolstra used his 12th challenge of the season in game 13. He used 18 all of last year. So by the end of the game he had actually used 13. He’s used 13 challenges through 13 games and she points out uh his record nine and four. Nine and four so far on challenges this year. So it is a new Eric Spolstra for sure. Like there are new things about him. He’s using his challenges. I feel like he’s trusting his players more with that stuff on the floor. I mean, you you kind of have to. You’re not really running a lot of plays, so he’s allowing them to be the eyes out there, which is great. Um, I do think there was an element of Spo just thought the challenge was soft for for um a bulk of his career, but he is uh he is going to it more now and he’s been very good at it. He’s been very very good at it. And he trusts Chris Quinn. I think Chris Quinn has a big hand in that as well. So the uh that that was one that’s one positive. Spo still great at the challenge. Still great at the challenge. But overall um you know a frustrating night. A frustrating night. And yeah, I’m not The Knicks uh the Knicks earned it, man. The Knicks earned it. It’s uh it’s it’s a a couple of tough back-to-back losses for the Heat because it felt like games for the majority of the game, the Heat were very much in it. Uh there were pockets of the game they controlled it, but ultimately the fourth quarters swallowed them up whole and now Miami is just a game over 500 with uh the Knicks coming back home on Monday. So, that’s going to be a a real real critical critical game for Miami to get. Then they’ll have the Warriors after that. So, this one uh yeah, this one definitely stings a little bit. Definitely stings. Um and Miami is going to have to figure that out, you know. Uh let me see if I’m doing this. I’m don’t think anybody’s doing postgame right now, but let me see if anybody’s put out any quotes on the rebounding from this. Um, let’s see anything from Ira and Spo. [Music] No, I don’t see anything yet. Let me see. Anthony tweeted something out. Let me see. Spolstra just [Music] All right. I don’t see anything. Well, rough. Crazy, dude. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Yeah, just getting annoying. Like I’m just saying from this season standpoint, um lot of good stuff. You know, there is a lot of good stuff for the Heat and I think that they’ve gotten their flowers. They’ve they’ve and and it’s been fun to watch, but this has definitely been a thing. Even the games they’ve gotten even the games they’ve gotten away with it, it feels like they’ve gotten away with it, you know? So, they uh and this is it’s hard to imagine the book’s not going to be out of Miami a little bit. Everybody’s kind of trying the whole thing where they go to zone a little bit. they bog down Miami’s fast-paced offense and you start making them hit some threes and you know they know that Miami can’t get second chance points cuz they don’t get second chance points. Um and then on the other end it’s like hey just win the possession game you’re going to outlast this team because yeah they’ll have pockets where they can start it but ultimately they want to run and make some mistakes like there are things that can just make this team shortcircuit a little bit. Um how much will Bam and Tyler solve that stuff? I will say this. This to me, people will talk about Bam and I and I and I think that yes, Bam Adabio obviously would have made a big difference today. Again, I’m not going to play the injury card. Um I I don’t want any New York Knicks fan thinking I’m giving the Heat a pass, but today was the first game I felt like all year I was like, man, Tyler would have made a big difference. And and I’ll tell you what, Tyler’s a good rebounder for his position. He is. I think it’s one of the things that’s that’s pretty unspoken about his game because he is not Everybody knows he’s not a a a great defender, but Tyler for his size will will crash the boards. He’ll fly all over the place. He will uh he’ll even like there’ll be points where he like takes rebounds from Bam and it annoys Bam because he’s he’s crashing so hard. But that’s one of those where I’m like I’m looking and I’m thinking to myself, you know, those extra possessions that you could get anywhere from Tyler Herro. Um, you know, he’s he’s he’s always been a a pretty rock solid rebounder for a shooting guard. you know, he’s always getting you like five a game and uh and I think it can go a long way for Miami just killing these possessions and going um because they need it. They need they need some help on these boards. They need some help on these boards. So, today was one of those games where I was like, man, you know, people people want to kind of already write the obituary on the Tyler Herro era because the offense is humming. There’s other things that this guy can bring to the table for this team for sure. Bam. It’s the obvious stuff. You know, I think I think the Bam stuff kind of goes without saying, you know, certainly you feel like you could certainly go to a hundred places where Bam was missed today, but uh today was the first one where I was like, man, the there there are some things here you’re going to see when Tyler gets back. Like they could really use that from Tyler. So, no no no excuses on losing the game because the Knicks were dealing with their own crap. I’m more looking ahead to all right, this is where this is where Boy Wonder can help an area for the Heat and and and we’ll see how long it’s going to be. They were they reported on uh on on um Cassidy Hub on uh NBA Prime reported she heard that they’re very near a return, I think was the wordage uh the verbiage that she used. So, we’ll see.

Tobin recaps the Miami Heat’s loss to the NY Knicks in NBA Cup Play. The rebounding is still killing the Heat in these games. Nikola Jović has another bad outing. Norman Powell give Miami 38 points.

  1. I love Powell but defensively he is reminding me of hero . This team scores a bunch but allows to many points . Without bam defenselessly we stink .

  2. It's ok….. We're going to be ok….. The HEAT 🔥 will regroup and bounce back…SHAMET has almost been traded to the HEAT a couple of times, WICHITA ST product…. BAM and Tyler are on the way

  3. Florida has destroyed two players possible for months, brunsun and og.Stop crying right now,bam and hero we're not there .Hero and Powell have not played togather yet, trust me the heat will be good.😊❤ Dream girl Miami princess.Let this game go .Revenge games are coming.

  4. The Ware Jovic experiment is over both need to go i believe both need a change of scenery. Also Johnson we as Heat fans has to stop falling in love with players we need a rebounder yesterday and why not take a chance on Ja? Maybe Ja needs a change of scenery also. AD would be fine also but Ja is much younger and the health is an issue with AD but AD and Bam down low you see them play in the Olympics and it was pretty good. Here's a question if the Heat trade for AD would you want them to bring Kyrie also or do a Gafford/Kyrie trade? How about a starting five of Irving Powell Wiggins Bam Gafford?

  5. Typical Miami heat. Spoelstra’s trash rotations constantly playing jovic at center, mf’s don’t box out at all, can’t get a rebound to save our lives, and turnovers at crucial moments. I’m so sick of this team constantly getting in their own way. We’re supposed to be way better than this. These last two games are completely unacceptable and these issues have been going on for years now yet the heat do nothing to change it 🤦🏾‍♂️😒😠

  6. Dude, pretty simple we need our Captain back on the floor playing. Thought? Package Tyler and Jovic in a trade what do you get? We need to play defense. We cannt give up 140 points and expect to win. This is fixable. Good show guy.

  7. 😂😂 thank you for the pause and then the “Yes, Landry Shmeet” also when you said he is a cross between Steph, AI, and Jesus shuttlesworth I actually laughed out loud

  8. This is on Spo with the bad roster construction. Trade one of our unnecessary wings for a consistent big. Drummond is siting in Philly some teams have three centers chilling on the bench just get one.
