Jaquez Jr., Mitchell, Powell, Spoelstra | Postgame Interviews | November 14, 2025

Uh, no. I mean, I think I mean, my free throws today uh were not were not great. I think, you know, I missed a couple easy ones. Thought I could have grabbed a couple more rebounds. Still not enough uh to get the W. So, no. What was the most challenging part tonight, particularly in those those little tipping point things, those 50/50 things when you needed them most? Yeah, I mean, I think um you know, just overall just better game awareness um you know, of where the game is at and what play to make. Um, you know, as we’re chipping away, we got to understand, especially myself, you know, we don’t need home runs. You know, just keep getting base hits, keep getting singles, you know, just keep fighting, chipping away. Um, you know, cuz in those big swing moments is when we need to be the most solid. Said he the team knows now more than ever the things you have to tighten up. It’s those, you know, offensive rebounding, the sec second chance points. Turnovers aren’t terrible. It’s just when they’re happening. Yeah. That has to be locked in. How quickly can that be turned around? Uh you know I think you turn around very it’s just collective buyin. Um you know I think as a group we understand uh you know we don’t want to keep losing in the fashion that we are. We want to be a great team and uh you know we just got to go back to the drawing board, go back to watching film, understand what we need to do um to clean this stuff up. I mean we we know what the problem is. It’s just you know accomplishing it is is really the difficult part. Um, so you know, we’re just going to keep battling, keep sticking together, and uh try to get another win on Monday. You guys, I think did a decent job responding to that first half that Cat had in the second half defensively, but then Shamut gets loose. Is that kind of what happens sometimes when you draw so much attention to one dude, another guy finds it? Yeah. Uh, sometimes, you know, that happens, but uh, you know, we we got to make sure that none of their X factors are able to have a game like that. You know, obviously Cat had the big first half. A lot of attention was drawn to him. Um, but that doesn’t mean those other guys can’t play. Um, and we got to take take care of handle business. Uh, we weren’t able to accomplish that tonight. Um, and we look to be better Monday. What happens in those moments where you’re it almost feels like a bit of a scramble. Yeah. I mean, um, we try to put two bodies or at least show two bodies on Carl because he’s getting it going and you kind of in rotation and Sham kind of make the right plays every time. I mean, he he had a good game. So, kudos to him for sure. when you’re trying to get back in a game like this now the clock becomes an issue and if you have anything that goes wrong it feels like a like a wrecking ball hitting you but it just seemed like it wasn’t the crazy points off turns or points off uh second chance points when they happened down the stretch was that the most impactful aspect of it yeah I mean those plays are just like deflating plays um they got a lot of 50-50 balls that turn into threes a lot of a lot of 50 50-50 balls we could have got in transition scored I mean, obviously we was doing really good in transition and pushing the pace is the reason why they win zone. So, if we get those 50/50 balls like cut the defensive rebounds in half, then I think we win that game. The rebounding aspect of it has probably hit the point where I assume it’s going to be a lot of emphasis on that. How critical it is is it to tighten that up and and pretty quickly? Yeah, I mean I mean sometimes I well mostly I blame myself. I got to get those rebounds. It’s those kind of longer rebounds. Um, I can’t just always let Khalil just think Khalil gonna get every rebound. I got to get those those rebounds per minute. But all all our guards got to get those rebounds, those long rebounds, especially when they shoot a lot of threes and they get tipped out. We got to be there just to get those rebounds cuz sometimes when Khlo’s doing a really good job on the big, um, they end up he end up hitting the ball out or hit out his hand and literally can be in our hands, but we’re not there. So, we just got to do a better job with that. For sure. Yeah. I mean, um, away from those moments, you know, those swing moments where, you know, um, you can push your lead up further or, um, you know, you can feed into their run. Um, I think the bigger moments are the the second chance opportunities, the 50-50 balls. You know, those are hustle plays. That’s where they live. Them relief points. Um, coach came in here after the game like, we got to cut that in half. We cut that in half just by the analytical part of the game. Um, I think uh, we’re actually up nine nine points. we cut those second chance uh points off those 50-50 balls that lead to threes and and ones. Um we got to do a better job of of limiting those, you know. Um I think that’s that’s the bigger focus point, the rebounds and uh winning those 5050 hustle plays. You can anticipate that Towns was going to crank it up and do more. But when you get it from Shamut and Clarkson at the same time, what has to happen to try to simmer those things down that didn’t happen tonight? U we got to be flying around. We got to make second and third efforts, you know. um with their their main guy out, you know, the head of the snake. We knew that Towns was going to um come out, you know, last year when he was out. Um he talked about wanting to go for 50. I believe he tried to do that uh again today. Um did he get 50? Um you know, but uh that was his mindset. Um and it came out and showed I think 30 in the first half and then those guys feeding off of that, you know. Um uh they found their shots. We made some they made some tough difficult shots, but a lot of those three-pointers and um points that they got were off of relief points uh that we got to clean up and take away. Fantastic shooting night for yourself, but when they fall in this space, how does it end up feeling? I don’t I care about the wins, you know. Um it doesn’t matter how much I score, what happens um if we come home with a L, you know? Um I’m not a stats guy. I want I want W’s. So, it’s more about um what I got to do better. You know, I had I made some mistakes defensively. Um, and also I got to be one of the guys to to help rebound. It can’t just be on Liil. Can’t just be on um Pal and uh Nico, you know, the bigger guys, those guards that had to come back and and help support the bigs rebounding and fighting in there, especially with Mitchell Robinson, one of the best offensive rebounders uh in the game, you know. Um so that’s what I look at, how how many um second chance points they got off rebounds that where it was my mistake um that I can tighten up uh in the next game place play them on uh Monday. Yeah, I mean more so the second chance. Um, and you know, it’s costing us games now. You know, that’s where we are. And you know, we’ve we’ve said it enough that we have to to fix it. You know, we’re being uh stubborn uh about it, the things that we need to do better. Um, I think we’re fully I feel like we’re fully capable of doing it. Is it easy? You know, winning is not easy uh in this league. Um there were so many popup rebounds there. There are a handful of rebounds. Mitchell Robinson is is um is phenomenal at at what he does. Um but there were several double digit, you know, rebounds uh from 12 feet out uh that we we could not secure. We’re leaking out or not just going and get it. We’re right next to it. um probably a half dozen bobbles. Touch the ball. Don’t come come up with it. Look, we we we said enough. Well, the staff are going to get to work. We’ll find out what’s what uh and what we have to correct. Um but we feel that it’s fully in our uh our uh ability to do it. Um and hopefully the pain, you know, of losing, you know, some of these games due to that will uh will change our behavior. And I I believe it will. Yeah, you know, we um you know, the urgency to get to the three-point line, you know, um you know, um especially once they they caught fire. Um, you know, our our urgency against Towns, I I felt like it was better in the second half. In the first half, he was operating in space. We were surprised about his range. Um, he’s fully capable, you know, of, you know, shooting those trail threes from 28 ft. Um, but also he had two threes off of offense offensive rebounds. Um, you know, and the ball swung to him. Um, but the urgency was better, you know, with him. I I think the game and our urgency defensively in the second half would have been good enough with better uh rebounding and um taking care of the ball at at key moments, these swing moments, you know, that I talk about um where we got it to four um you know, we’d have a turnover and that would lead to a three or something, a momentum play going the other way. Yeah, we would have liked a few more rebounds that potentially could lead to fast breaks. Um, you know, they went to the zone. That’s a sign of respect. Um, you know, they haven’t really played much zone if at all this year. Um, but that was to contain our drives, contain our game. Um, as we caught a little bit more rhythm, I thought we handled that fine. Um, and it wasn’t the amount of turnovers, it was when they happened. Uh, you know, at key swing moments that that could change the tenor of the game. Yeah, I mean he’s been a force of will, a force for force of nature and tonight it happened to be um you know on drives but also those second chance opportunity. It’s shocking we had more second chance points you know than they did tonight. Um, but he’s he’s going to make his presence felt uh in the paint and um, you know, we just got to collectively, you know, do better. We we understand what it is, you know, so now we’re going to get to work. You know, I’m not talking about, you know, we just know what we have to correct. Is it easy? No.

  1. Yup, Bam and Tyler are both missed and haters are finally seeing the difference…also, personally, I love that Powell is pissed. I ๐Ÿ’ฏ agree with everything he said and his view about dropping damn near 40 in a loss….Joviฤ‡ seems in his head and needs some mental fortitude development imo he's a kid so I expect it to come over time….young team problems.

  2. GET RID OF JOVIC IMMEDIATELY, HE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLAYER, CAN'T DEFEND, CANT DRIBBLE, TURNS THE BALL OVER, HORRIBLE PASSES AND CANNOT SCORE, SO BASICALLY HE'S COMPLETELY USELESS!! Just because he has ONE GOOD GAME out of 10, it doesnt mean he didnโ€™t suckthe other 9!!!

  3. You all donโ€™t know what the problem is if you did you would stop the leak ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ itโ€™s ok to shoot 3โ€™ pointers but you have to understand how to get a team in file trouble and always look ๐Ÿ‘€ for the big man or center first Knowing how to pound the ball in the middle with Ware or Bam to create fowl trouble for any team blocking out still was terrible ๐Ÿ˜ž Miami your shooting for another play in year unless yall do a trade to get Anthony Davis I see this season going to waist๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. not a bad performance considering we had no one to put on KAT. he played awful first game plus bam shut him down. once bam comes back weโ€™ll be straight

  5. Spoelstra thought he had this game had, with the Knicks being down JB and OG. That's why he used his challenges early, and it came back to bite him in the second.

  6. You can be united as ever, watch as much film as you want, and play the best offense ever…small ball will continue to make this team 1) have to work 3x as hard on every play and every possession because they're always smaller and 2) get outrebpunded resulting in 2nd chance points for the opposing teams.
