Stop saying we dont beat good teams. Guess what? All the good teams beat up on bad teams.

  1. This is a dumb narrative even in college football but especially in the NFL

However in the NFL the only thing that matters is your record at least

So stop caring about it, it doesn’t matter

  2. They are winning the games they are supposed to win, the rest of the schedule will be a different story but so far they have had a good first half of the year

  3. I mean the only team we’ve played with a record above .500 this season so far is the Lions. So yeah it’s not our faults lol

  4. its always a coping mechanism for fanbases that are mad other teams are winning lol the Patriots had an automatic 6 wins every year because the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins were never good. Winning in the NFL is hard and every team is different week to week.

  5. it’s the NFL. there are some wins that are harder i suppose, but there is no win that is meaningless

  6. We don’t know if the Bears can beat good teams or not. Only team they’ve played that currently has a winning record is the Lions, and they got smoked. Sample size of 1 doesn’t really say much though. Next 8 games have 6 vs teams with a winning record, so we’ll find out a lot.

  7. I’d be fine with this narrative if we were at least blowing out a few more bad teams than just the Cowboys, but I’ll dubs over what we’ve the past few years

  8. All nfl wins count the same. You can only play to your schedule you can’t control the quality of the opponent

  9. These teams also beat good teams. We have to do that and our opportunities are numerous over the next three months

  10. The sign of a good team, is one that beats bad teams. But also one that plays tough and can beat good teams.

We need to beat some good ones down the stretch to make the playoffs. I’m excited to see what we can make happen.

  11. Don’t get me wrong I love this season so far, but we really aren’t beating up on teams. We’re winning, and that’s absolutely fantastic and a drastic change, but we’re not piecing up people except the Cowboys

  12. I’m glad they’re winning the games they’re supposed to win. All of them apart from the cowboys game have been nail biters though. We picked off geno smith 4 times and still needed an insanely lucky blocked kick to win that game. We should be comfortably beating teams like the Bengals, Giants and Saints and we’re just not there yet.

I understand the optimism and I think we’re on the right path, but realistically we’re insanely lucky to be 6-3

  13. Obviously you can only beat the teams on the schedule but they haven’t beat a team this year I would say is good. In fact they lost to a bad Vikings team and then lost to a ravens team without Lamar. But they had 6 wins in the NFL and I don’t think there’s many good teams this year. So we’ll just have to see how things play out.

  14. Not really a very meaningful stat, if you are the best team of course a little more than half the teams you play are gonna be below .500.

  15. I mean I’m happy if we’re a mid team this year, we’ve already reached my season goal somehow.

  16. Sports media has followed the formula of mainstream media, talking heads making up talking points with no.actual research in order to fill air time. If it gains any traction, then it gets regurgitated by the rest. The more chatter, posts, clicks and views to keep it going, the better.

  17. For most of this season so far the Bears would not do well against good teams.  Unlike a lot of teams though there are realistic reasons to believe that the Bears could be a much better team late in the season vs early.  At first this was for the team to get more comfortable in the offense, and while that is still true, the defense getting healthy could have an even bigger impact.

The ability to win vs bad teams is the only reason that these upcoming games vs good teams will still be meaningful games.

  18. True, the only concern is barely beating the bad teams. But beating them the way we are does mean you are at worst, average.

  19. Beating bad teams is what good teams are supposed to do. Id just prefer if it was more of a convincing beating than our usual scrape by with comeback win

  20. Sure, but what were their point differentials and how did they do against other good teams? The bears have eked out victories against bad teams and gotten blown out by the one his team they’ve faced (although maybe I’d count Washington as a good team as well). They still have a lot to prove.

  21. When you hand other teams Ls, the likelihood of them being above .500 is lower than if you lose to them. Hard hitting analysis here

  22. We should be beating bad teams comfortably if we’re good. I can’t take the puckering but it does make me feel alive.

  23. We’re a better team now than we were week one. Not saying we’ll beat the Eagles, Packers, Niners or Lions but those games should be closer than what others think. Were still a year away from playing contending football but were competitive and thats a start.

  24. We beat bad teams and deserve to be ranked above bad teams for such.

We have yet to beat good teams and deserve to be ranked below good teams for such.

We should be ranked in the teens bc we haven’t proven ourselves relative to the league yet. That’s why this stretch is important either way. We did well enough so far and deserve to be happy about it. After 10 weeks we should all be happy with what we’ve seen. But are we playoff contenders or still a step away? We’ll find out.

  25. Ok but here’s the thing, those teams also beat good teams. Really good teams. In the playoffs.

The squad hasn’t done that, much less win a Super Bowl, yet.

So in my view, those are entirely meaningless stats from a comparative standpoint with regards to where the Bears currently stand.

Let’s see where things stand in a month.

  26. It’s not a “narrative” it’s just a fact; they haven’t beaten any good teams yet. It’s not their fault, you can only play the schedule you’re given and they’ll get their chance soon enough. Don’t let it bother you.

  27. It turns out that in order for there to be good teams, not everyone can be above .500. Its pretty wild but when you add a win to your record, another team has to add a loss

  28. The Patriots dynasty had the Dolphins, Bills and Jets in their division and most years they were all crap teams

  29. You. Patriots division was mostly awful for much of the dynasty. Definitely helped. NFC north was mediocre for a bunch of Rodgers reign. The key as always is win and get in. Bad opponents help with that.

This being said I’m a bit worried about the rest of our season if the D can’t improve to at least kinda bad rather than outright sieve.

  30. I think that we are facing weak teams, and then we aren’t dominating them it is coming down to the wire is concerning. Like if we were rolling through all these bad teams, that would be a different story. We needed a miraculous comeback and Dart knocked out of the game to beat the 2 win Giants. We haven’t beating up on bad teams, more like scraping by.
A win Sunday against the Vikings on Sunday may give the Bears a modicum of respect.

  31. Good teams win games they’re supposed to win. Great teams win games they’re supposed to lose.
