Stop Sleeping on The Phoenix Suns!

In the past eight games, the Phoenix Suns have a record of 7-1. And ever since Halloween, they have looked like one of the best teams in all of basketball. And no, I am not joking. Yeah, I’m just as shocked as you guys are, but Phoenix has been playing absolutely amazing these past eight games. And there’s a lot of things that I want to talk about. Now, really quick, let me just give you my thoughts on this team heading into the year because obviously I wasn’t making videos at that time, and I recently came back. So, let me tell you exactly what I was thinking again coming into this year. In the most honest way possible that I can say this, I had very low expectations for this team. We just got rid of Kevin Durant and we just got rid of Osama bin L or I mean uh Bradley Beal, so I knew this team was definitely going to take a hit. But when I look at this team and I look at the moves they made, I would argue they’re a lot more balanced compared to last year. Now don’t get me wrong, this team is 8 and five. I’ve seen them play some good games and I’ve seen them play some bad games. But I think the best way to do this video is talk about the positives and the negatives. And first I want to start with the positives. and one of them is Devin Booker. All right, that’s the video. See y’all later. Okay, but real talk, Devin Booker has been pretty good this year. I mean, I’m not surprised though. It’s Devin Booker. I will say this though, and maybe I’m only saying this just because I’m a Suns fan and I watch almost all of their games, but I feel like Deon Booker is one of those players that you watch him and you watch him for a number of games, you’re like, damn, it seems like he’s having an off year. But you look at the stats and the man is almost averaging 29 points per game, seven assists, shooting 50, 37, and 89 shooting splits. Like, obviously Booker is one of the best scorers in the league. He is currently top 10 in points per game, but his assist numbers going up is something that I really do like to see. I like the fact that Booker has improved as a playmaker. I mean, look, obviously we know Deon Booker can score. It’s probably what he’s best at, but the fact that we have a star player that is willing to make plays, a guy that is actively looking to get assists, a guy that’s actively looking to make the best play possible that doesn’t just resolve him. I think it really shows that Booker is a great teammate and a great leader on this team because with no Kevin Durant, this man is obviously the leader of this team. But listen, I can make a Devin Booker video for 20 minutes talking positive about him, but there are other spots in this team that I really want to highlight. And another one is Grayson Allen. And believe me when I say I did not think I would be talking about Grayson Allen as much as I want to in this video. At the time of recording this video, he’s averaging about 18 points per game while shooting 47, 45, and 80 shooting splits. Mind you, he’s shooting almost 45% from three while taking almost nine three-pointers a game. So, the man is not only shooting well, but he’s doing it on insane volume. I mean, this man the other day literally had 42 points and 10 made threes while shooting 71% from the field. This man, Grayson Allen, is playing like he’s in his prime right now. But, unfortunately, this man just got injured versus Indiana. And I don’t know how serious it is, but all it says is he’s questionable with a leg injury. So, I’m hoping that he’s not out for that long because he’s definitely one of the reasons why Phoenix has been doing so well. Now, this might be a hot take to some, but I do believe if Grayson Allen keeps up to the stats that he’s having and he’s healthy for majority of the year that he’s going to win the most improved player of the year award, which listen, I know it’s not a flashy award like rookie of the year, MVP, but still, it’s really cool to see. I mean, as a Suns fan, I think it’s cool, but genuinely, I think Grayson Allen has taken a jump that not a lot of players are taking this year. I mean, sure, there’s guys like Ryan Rollins that you could talk about, but I think Grayson Allen has been a lot more impactful, especially given the fact that Phoenix has been winning a lot recently. And if Phoenix gets to a point where they’re like a top five seed in the West, then I think Grayson Allen is going to have that award unlocked. All I’m saying is don’t be surprised if when he comes back he starts averaging almost 20 points per game. I mean, hell, we look at this game versus Indiana. He did finish with 12 points, which that’s what the stats say, but what we don’t talk about is this man got injured in I think like the second quarter. He had like 12 points in 12 minutes and was shooting well. So yeah, he was probably going to go for 20 maybe 30 points. Now, one of the biggest things I wanted to talk about during my hiatus was the Kevin Durant trade, but I ultimately decided not to. Now, the Kevin Durant trade itself is a whole other conversation that we can have, but I just want to talk about the players that we got from that trade and two of them that I really want to focus on. And those players, of course, are Dylan Brooks and Jaylen Green. I got to say, yes, we did give up Kevin Durant, and I do miss Kevin Durant, and he’s doing okay on Houston. But Dylan Brooks is someone that has become a 20 points per game while being a great defender. And Jaylen Green is potential man. In his debut, Jaylen Green had 29 points in a very impressive game. Unfortunately, not even 48 hours later, this man had two points in a game, which might sound bad, except he got injured in the first quarter. So, yeah, the potential is there. I think Jaylen Green’s going to be a great scoreer for this team. I think he’s going to make an impact, but he’s currently dealing with a hamstring injury right now. I hope that we didn’t just trade one injury-prone player for another because this would really suck, especially given the little footage that we’ve seen of Green on the Phoenix Suns. But I do expect him to be healthy very soon. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. Now, I know I briefly talked about Dylan Brooks and him just averaging 20 points per game, but this man has been a very vocal leader on this team. He’s been obviously a great scorer, a great defender, but he’s just been very consistent, and I think that’s very important for Phoenix right now. Like, trust me when I tell you that I was not going to bet that Dylan Brooks was going to be the second leading scorer on this team, but yet here we are. You know, honestly, it’s pretty funny when you think about it. Like, Dylan Brooks is one of those players that when you play against him, you [ __ ] hate him. But when he’s on your team, you love him. He is one of your favorite players. And I have to agree. This is how I feel about Dylan Brooks. Like, objectively, this man is a cocky prick that I feel like a lot of people would want to punch in the face, but I’m going to ride or die for this man. You know, now that I think about it, it’s actually kind of funny because in my YouTube career, I made a video on Grayson about how much I thought he was a cocky prick and a video about Dylan Brooks on how I thought he was a cocky prick. And now both of these guys are on my team doing well for the Suns. Like it it it’s crazy how life goes. I will say though, Grayson Allen has definitely gotten better over the years, but still. Someone that no one is going to talk about in a video unless you’re a son’s YouTube channel is Royce O’Neal. And I want to give this man his props. Similar to Grayson Allen, this man has been shooting extremely well this year. At the time of recording this video, he’s averaging about 12 points per game, which isn’t too bad. But what I think is crazy is this man is shooting 45% from three while shooting it on 7 and a half attempts per game. It’s guys like Royce O’Neal, Grayson Allen, Dylan Brooks, why this team is doing so well from shooting from the three-point line. Like currently, they’re second in three-pointers made this year. They’re damn near top five in three-point percentage. Overall, this team has just been great on offense as a whole, and it’s a reason why they’ve done so well this year to start off. Now, before I end this video, there is one more player that I do want to talk about with a couple honorable mentions, but I really want to focus on Mark Williams. This man has been terrific for Phoenix so far. He’s averaging almost 12 points per game, almost nine rebounds a block, and is shooting about 60% from the field. If there was one position that Phoenix has been struggling at over the past couple years, ever since getting rid of DeAndre Aen, I would have to say that center is the biggest problem that Phoenix has had. Well, I feel like Mark Williams has completely filled that void. He’s a guy that is a great inside scorer while also being a great inside defender. He’s someone that can get rebounds and is not afraid to be aggressive like a certain player that used to play for this team. I think he is the type of player that could be on a championship winning team and have a really big impact. Now, don’t take that out of context. I’m not saying the Suns are going to win the finals, but I do think they’re a team that can make a deep playoff run. Obviously, I want to see what they’re going to do with Jaylen Green. I want to see overall how Book develops, you know, as time goes on this year, and maybe he’s an MVP talks, but overall, I’m just happy to watch this team. I mean, listen, I loved Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, and I I didn’t really like Bradley Beiel. [ __ ] that guy. But if you were to ask me, I would say this is one of the most complete Phoenix Suns teams we have seen since the 2021 or 2022 Suns, which I know really doesn’t seem like that long ago, but you got to remember that these past couple years have been a living hell for the Suns. And it seems like they were just never going to get back to the way they used to be. I don’t know, man. The West is pretty wide open this year, except the Oklahoma City Thunder, which they might be the best team in the [ __ ] league. I can’t even lie. Like trust me, they’re definitely getting a video, but I had to talk about Phoenix because again, they’ve been doing well, man. They’re they’re seven and one in their last eight. Now, I will say their schedule is going to be getting better over the next couple weeks. So, I am interested to see if they continue to dominate. But, there is a team that has been doing the complete opposite that Phoenix actually just beat, and that’s the Dallas Mavericks, who just fired Nico Harrison.
