JJ Redick is wearing a customized Deandre Ayton t-shirt where the front is Ayton’s face combined with the face of a lion. “We want him to be the lion,” Redick said.

  1. We need players getting Ayton fired up in games and see that he can be a fuckin monster, he’s such a soft spoken guy but we need that fire if we’re gonna compete

  2. JJ is playing chess, some commentors here setting up the checker board minus a few pieces.

  3. I like how JJ is giving Ayton motivation and showing him that he believes in him. This may seem corny or small but sometimes that’s all a person needs. Just for somebody to show you that they care or believe in you could mean everything to some people

  4. This type of stuff is exactly what a guy like DA needs and why he’s been so good, if he’s in a good environment with coaches + teammates that care about him and push him, and you get the best version of him

  5. This is awesome! I remember Ayton posting a pic of he and JJ. With the caption, “Love on who loves you”

  6. Going all in on DA is brilliant. Luka, AR, and Bron are confident to the point of psychotic but pouring into DA and boosting him is only going to pay dividends for the team and for him as a person.

  7. I used to have a Kobe shirt that did the same thing but with a Mamba. Same yellow color and art style too

  8. Can you link this ? I can’t find it only interview from other games pop up annoying af

  9. You can’t make someone who be in the league for a decade become a lion over night. That isn’t in this guy DNA.

  10. Ayton has so much potential. If he could focus on exploding at the rim when he’s in the key instead of fading away from the rim, that alone would get him up to 20 ppg.

He’s got good finesse, finishes lobs well, good midrange game, but he needs that Kenyon Martin aggressiveness. He should be yamming on people 3-4 times a night, but he’s a little soft in that regard, imo.

What do you guys think? 🤔

  11. This is a coach that is playing the game the right way. He’s lighting a fire under his players by finding creative ways to keep them accountable. This is the job of a coach, the X’s and O’s that have to be accounted for when dealing with various personalities. DA is crucial to our success no matter what moves we make. JJ trying to instil consistency in him and I hope his efforts reap fruit
