#BUFvsMIA postgame press conferences | Miami Dolphins
Sorry, I’ll get the door. Mike, what do you think the factors were for this team to put together such a complete performance? Um it always starts um you know with the with the leadership um the captains and uh the leadership council um setting the tone but realistically it was a a full week of preparation um that was diligent and quite honestly a little salty. So, um, you know, I think it was the attention to detail. It was the focus on how we were the style of football we were going to play, not um the results um that were going to come. And, you know, there was some complimentary football at its finest where, you know, you’d get a stop, you’d get a special teams play, and you’d get points. Um and that that um football 101 you uh you know even with a couple um you know throws that I was uh I was actually really pumped. I told um two of uh on some third down calls to let it rip down the field and kind of operate as an opportunity ball to um you know act as a punt. Still with all that we um we ended up in the plus. Uh so you know by and large we just executed on the things that we set out to execute. So, I think that was the biggest difference with the penalty before the game even started really and and the interception from Tua. How are you guys able to overcome those early mistakes? I think uh you know it’s the um unintended consequence of adversity. I think we’ve had our fair share of reps of having things not um you know play out the way uh you kind of set out for them to play out. and the young uh team uh that you know we we have a lot of young players that um have been learning on the fly and I think you know it was a it was a good game of maturation in that way. Um so it was it was good to have um a complete effort and when you get complete efforts like that and you don’t allow things to um uh play a factor in your style of play regardless if it’s whatever a call you don’t believe is right or um a play that the opposing team makes. You know I I was very proud of our our resolve and our focus um to get the job done. What did that time out? Was that intended, the very first one, or was there some miscommunication with an official? Oh, yeah. Um, I mean, I’m not trying to get fined, so I called the timeout um to have a uh a a information um gathering session. Um, and uh, you know, we had a a nice nice direct conversation. Then we moved on with our lives. But the Dolphins declined to trade Devon Han or Jaylen Wadd despite multiple reports that there were multiple offers. Um, how do you feel about the team’s decision on on to not trade either of those players? Yeah, I mean I I I think our team’s decision fortunately I’m part of the team and um so I’m happy with uh our collective decision. Um, but that’s again, you know, I think it’s it’s frustrating every trade deadline to me because I think there’s like 30% of the information is reported realistically. Like you have that is very very normal to have people um check in if you have a losing record. That’s pretty much the um autopilot of the entire National Football League is you you try to see if there’s anybody willing to um jump in to uh let go of their best players. Um so, you know, I think with a with our record at um two and seven at the time, uh you know, 10 times out of 10, you’re going to get calls on every every um player that you that you have that other teams want. So, um, you know, I think the the main thing is is that, uh, you know, we were, uh, I’ve never once, um, thought about those dudes not as a dolphin. Um, and you, uh, it’s only healthy business not to turn your phone off, but I mean, I think it’s pretty status quo. I wish they reported every person that was inquired about um across the league and it would dilute that as a headline. There’s so much swirling around to outside noise. I know you guys how you guys handle outside noise, but he he seems to be able and this has happened before where just how he is just was all all week was he just kind of like that single focus and you do you ever see that stuff? It doesn’t appear to ever bother. No, I think um that’s one of his calling cards that makes him um you know uh uh uniquely um prepared for the position that he is as a franchise quarterback because um you know I I don’t think people uh really uh give it its due on how difficult it is um when you you have all the all the layers of of scrutiny me. Um, I do think that uh that is what you sign up for. So you you it’s more like I I I know the mental toughness of him because of his um ability to uh flourish in those types of situations. He was the captain and the leader this game. And I thought I, you know, I thought he did he he showed the way to the to the team by um, you know, I I asked him to uh be aggressive on a couple plays and, you know, um, not worry about uh the result if it was a deep play and give our give our guys a shot down the field. Um, and to me, uh, that’s that’s how you win football games is when you when you have people that put aside stat sheets, put aside, you know, no one wants to throw throw a throw a pick. Um, but to be aggressive and to, you know, challenge the defense and have the rest of your offense work on if you’re going to take risks, you can’t be afraid of uh the the the end result. Um and uh you know I think he made one of his um you know the second touchdown was a gigantic play in the game uh that was super aggressive. They had probably like a three yard window to complete that before it was the back of the end zone. Um so he he played really well. Um but you know I think as a captain of this team he um he he knew what time it was. uh and I thought he led and uh corresponding the you know that really all the captains um were uh fixtures in this game and uh very proud of their effort. So uh we will be excited to take that on to another game and try to replicate uh this type of execution. Considering the adversity y’all have faced this season and of course the history against Buffalo, what does a win like this over a team like that mean to that locker room? Um, I think they’ve chose to believe throughout the whole thing, throughout the whole off season, there’s been they’ve made that decision to continue to believe and continue to invest in each other. Um so you know my belief uh just in in football and in life is is that that is paid back to you if you have the um the steadfast nature and mental fortitude and toughness. Um ironically a lot of a lot of times in in football some of your best feelings um are piggybacked off of some of your worst feelings. So, I think it’s important um because they believe that could be the outcome, you know, um realistically against every opponent. We know exactly um how we’ve hurt ourselves in in other in other games. So for them to uh uh go out and uh have dividends um for all their investment um it’s it’s very important and deserved for them. Um I think uh they we’ve been looking for uh a three-phase game um against a division opponent um uh like that for some time. Um and I I think that you know gives us no excuse and uh the the black and white formula for uh success moving forward. So um I I I know uh you can I think it’s pretty obvious from you know the the play uh they didn’t believe that their season was over. That’s difficult to do um when everyone’s talking to you about the season being over. Unless it’s not difficult because you choose to focus on the right stuff and then you can you can have um e efforts like that and then you know the National Football League is all about um all right so then you have that window of celebration um but then no one cares and you’re back to work um facing another opponent. So, we’ll uh we’ll have a uh enjoyable evening, I’m sure. Um or they will uh I will be um making up from for some lost daddy daddy daughter time and then um which I’ll enjoy. Don’t get don’t get confused. Um but I won’t be partying. And then tomorrow morning we’ll be back um at it getting ready for the commanders. I guess what does it what does it say about this team though kind of building off that that you’ve been able to respond to probably your two worst games of the season in Cleveland and Baltimore with your two best games in Atlanta and now today. I think uh I’m very I’m I’m very happy that that everyone gets to see the side that I see. You know, I I um I see guys uh win, lose, or draw. um focus and lean in and buy in and um you know I think eventually you you have games where it comes together in situations like that. So I I I think it’s it’s awesome because they deserve it. Um not a surprise to me. Uh and you know based upon you know our our work weeks that that was something that you know we we we knew that uh if we wanted to gain some respect from uh the division of that that team we had to earn it. Um so I think they were steadfast on um putting together a good game and and uh showing people that um we are uh better than our record and then you have to continue to do that. um when you’re uh when you start in a hole. Um but realistically, it’s about our football evolving um not taking a step back. I I think that has um been the case for the most part of the season with exception to um games that we over the top shot ourselves in the foot. I think our guys learned from that and applied uh literally how do they fix their game um every rep for every day with a a a concrete focus um and a resolve. So, you know, that’s that’s the the fun part about the National Football League um is the parody is real. So, uh you better come prepared and with your best. We knew we had to today um to to get a win here at home. It’s been uh too long since we’ve been able to say that. Um but happy that we got it done today uh against the Buffalo. That uh flight to Spain a little more enjoyable tomorrow considering this result. Yeah, I mean just the big the the taxi of going international. I I think I think the my hope um and where I feel our team is at is the the focus will only increase. You you you know very hard workers in that locker room haven’t gotten the results necessarily that they they wanted. Um and so then you push yourself even more and then you do get the results that becomes addicting. That focus that um feeling in control over your football um existence. That’s what you feel when you have complimentary football that not one person or one phase has to carry the load. Um and that that’s achieved through one one way. Um, and you know, I’m I’m very confident um in the in the locker room that uh we’re going to Spain for a football game and they will be uh they will uh be chomping at the bit to have another um have another game uh where they get the opportunity to try to put something together and win as a team. So, uh it was a it was a good day at the office for sure. to question. You mentioned uh this week how important this game was for you guys given how the series has gone against Buffalo. How satisfying is it given that uh to come out here and have such a complete game today? It’s very satisfying. Um we beat a great team today and I’m proud of the guys in the locker room. defense did what they needed to do. Um, you know, offense did what we needed to do to some extent and then special teams, they they did what they needed to do to help us collectively um, you know, win this football game. So, I’m proud of the team, proud of those guys in that locker room and uh, you know, this is one of those where like I want to say like I’m very proud because I see the work that they put in day in and day out and and this is one that um, you know, I think they deserve, the team deserves. How did Han affect the game today? I mean, he had two touchdowns. Uh, you know, I think that affects the game. Every time you can get someone uh like that, a playmaker on your team, you get him the ball in his hands and you know what he he’s capable of doing. But it’s not just that. It’s also in the pass game uh where he helps us thrive as well. So, um, having having someone like that who, uh, can align at running back, who can align at slot or at receiver, uh, you know, I I think that tells you a lot about, you know, the playmaker he is. You had to feel pretty good that you still have Jaylen Wadd alongside you when you threw that deep touchdown to him. What’s that like after all those rumors swirling around to still have him and connect like that in a big way? That’s that’s me and Dub. That’s that’s our connection that we’ve had, you know, even being at Alabama. So, uh, Vaughn even called it. Von, you know, Van was talking about that play, too, that when when we when we talked about it, he called like that’s that’s y’all, you know, so we had to make that play and and W made that play. There’s so much swirling around and especially with you. Should should they start looking at other people? Are you going to be here next year? All that stuff. And I know you guys how you handle that. You don’t. So, is is it at all I mean, during the week, does it make you more focused? Do you make a a a direct attempt to just not even look forward or how do you handle it all like that? I think for me, the more I try to focus or overly focus or overly try to do something, I tend to get worse at at what I’m doing, uh because that’s not how I operate with with how I do things. um you know with me watching film with me um doing my own walkthroughs after uh watching film what those might look like you know I don’t think doing more for myself or trying to overly cook that uh is going to better myself and I’ve I’ve understood that throughout you know just the past month about myself when I just go do what I need to do understand reasons as to why we’re we’re doing it play calm play togetherness football, you know, that that’s what that’s what this sport is about. That’s why it’s a team sport. It’s not about uh one individual. Stuff isn’t even like, you know, yeah, it helps that I don’t have social media. That’s why. So, you know, none of that unless one of the one of my teammates have something to say and they’re like, “Hey, you didn’t see this or that.” So, every win counts for one, but is Buffalo a little bit uh more special because they’ve had such success in the division and success against your team? Yeah, I I would say both could be true, right? Uh every every time you can get a win in the NFL, that’s special. Uh but given given the times we’ve played Buffalo in the past and uh have gotten close and then have gotten blown out, you know, I I think that this one definitely makes it that much more special that it was against Buffalo, a division rival. Um they’ve had our number for years. And so to be able to, you know, the last last time that we play them this year, um you know, being being that we beat them, you know, that’s a special feeling. to the team that won today and against Atlanta. Is part of you like why why aren’t we doing that every week? What’s clicked today and in Atlanta that hasn’t clicked other weeks? Sorry, say that again. The team that won today and the team that won in Atlanta, decisive wins, what clicked in those weeks that hasn’t clicked the rest of the year? I think everyone’s motives are are pure. I think some of us take it more upon ourselves to try to do other people’s jobs when that’s not our job. And so you hear Mike talk a lot about conviction in in what you’re doing and trusting that everyone has conviction in what they’re doing, where they’re going to be uh in the pass game, you know, for the running backs, the space that they’re going to have to find where where those uh holes are going to be for them in the run game. So uh it’s just having conviction for ourselves individually, trusting that the entirety of everyone is going to do what they they need to do and what they’re supposed to do. is okay with you taking those deep shots, third and longs, because if they get picked off, it’s just like a long punt anyway. Um, was that like a mindset that had to shift to go ahead and take those shots anyway, not be worried about throwing an interception on those? Yeah, I wouldn’t say it was a mindset uh shift. It was it was more so when we got a certain look when we got one-on-one with Jaylen and it was single high safety that no matter what we were we wanted to take that shot and um you know we we want to give one of our best guys on on offense an opportunity to go one-on-one with whoever their DBs are. And so um you know got to make a better play uh both me and Ski but outside of that that’s what uh we were told to do. Thanks guys. Thanks guys. What’s it like when uh you got a lead late, ball’s coming to you, and you’re able to just put it away twice really? Um it’s it’s good, man. Um I feel like um this win, man. Like as a team, I feel like we played coming into football on all levels. Um, defense played outstanding game. Um, like I said, man, when we clicking on all cylinders and when we able to like end the game, offense standpoint, I feel like that’s like the type of football that we want to play. And, um, like you said, like T said, we put in the work week in week out. So, this like wasn’t like no shock to us cuz we always knew like, okay, like we don’t make these little mistakes and we stay ahead of the sticks and stay on schedule like we can put up points. Von, I know it’s just it’s one of one game of 17, but I think this is your first time beating Buffalo. Does it feel any different? Most definitely. Like you say, um since I came this I think I played them like five, six times, like six. This my sixth time playing them. This is my first win. So like um it it’s it’s great. Feels special. But like you said, it just shows that like the other times that we played them like when it was close and when we did get ball, it just comes to the little things and us knowing like, okay, we can get over this hump. And I feel like today that’s what we did. To run the ball against them and effectively. I mean, you have today you guys ran the ball really effectively win the game. You you have run periods. Um I mean, when you’re running the ball good, man, I feel like, you know, don’t go away from it. Um I mean like you said they played a lot of when they was stacking the box playing single high that’s when you know okay you see what they doing and now now we going to 17 and like you said when it’s single high that mean he’s oneonone and we like him against whoever we playing. So like you said us I feel like we come meet each other the pass game and the run game I feel like when we balance when we balance offense I feel like we do whatever we want. There were a lot of reports that other teams tried to trade for you and Jaylen Wadd. Uh, interim GM Champ Kay, excuse me, Champ Kelly decided not to trade you guys. How do you feel about that? I feel good, man. Like I said, I want I want I want to be here. Like I said, no matter record, this is where I want to be. And um, I was glad, you know, neither one of us is gone. So, um, Tua said about things are closing in when there’s outside noise. Do you see him as a leader become like kind of a bunker mentality and this is, you know, does doesn’t matter what else is being said, doesn’t matter what our record is this week, this is what we have to do. Do you see Tua get that kind of mode? Most definitely. Like you said, um, no matter what’s going on outside, like say he QB1, like you said, we all have bad games, good games, and like you said, he get a lot of noise, but I mean, I see him every day. He don’t pay no attention to it. He come in every week like he’s supposed to. What was your best run today as you saw? that something you did or saw or reacted to? Um, probably my first touchdown. Um, just, you know, making making guys miss in the hole, you know, that’s that was probably the like the second one, you know, it was pretty blocked up, you know, good, so I didn’t have to do a lot. So, probably the first one. What do you think is the potential for this team uh for this upcoming stretch uh given that you guys have put together two of your best performances in the last three games? Oh, we just got to, you know, just just keep moving forward, man. keep doing the same things and making sure that like I said we don’t have those little critical mistakes that cost us games and like I said um we play great on all levels special teams defense offense and when we playing like that it don’t matter who we playing I feel like know we can win against anybody thanks to thank you talking. Bradley, you said uh use the word delusional when we talked to you Wednesday about the belief you guys had. Did you have an inkling you guys would perform this way today? I mean, I feel like, man, the way we’ve been preparing, the way all the stuff we done been through this season, man, we just been fighting and each and every day is not like a, oh, we lost that game, now let’s mope around like two and seven. Like, it didn’t matter. like we just showed up to work. Everybody had that same mindset and that’s why like I use the word delusional cuz like nobody on the outside going to believe about it but all of us in there do and we came out and showed it today. Bradley, what part of the defensive plan worked best today? Uh I was just saying corral 17, man. He’s a playmaker. He’s all over the place. He had a couple times on us where he got moving around and and extended those plays, but I feel like the the front four we just worked together in in a sense. And then man, JB was flying around. Those linebackers were flying around when we when it came down to the run. We were setting edges and letting those guys play free. Um, so I give it credit, man, to the front seven. The DBs held up exactly when they needed to. U, we had a lot of guys come in and step up, man. Juju Brent stepped up. Jason Marshall stepped up. Minka had that play on the fourth and one. You know what I mean? He’s been doing he’s been doing this at all pro level. So, it’s just about the belief, man. Everybody in there believing in each other, believing in the process, believing in um how we going to take the field and that’s what worked. Mentally, how did you guys avoid getting disheartened when Josh Allen was did start to make plays? Were you saying things to each other on the sideline? Like, what were you guys doing? I mean, he he’s an MVP for a reason. You know what I mean? Like, we know he’s going to make the plays. It’s just about how we respond to it. E plus R equals O. Um, not getting, you know, too down of too down on ourselves. At the end, like I say, he’s a MVP caliber player. So, it’s just about responding and and I feel like we did that. Was there an emphasis again on getting the ball out? Uh, like we saw that game against the Jets, how you guys were able to do that. Was that re-emphasized at any point? That’s been the emphasis all season, man. It’s been an emphasis all season. And today we I mean throughout the week of practice, a lot of shots on goal, a lot of punching at the ball in against the scout team. They weren’t coming out in practice, but when you keep doing stuff, it’s a lot of averages, man. Just guys getting ingrained in their heads and JB had one, Jack had one. Um, somebody else had one. And both recovered. And if if he had a pick, if he had to pick, man, get to the ball. Bradley, I honestly can’t remember the last time the Bills were shut out their three quarters. Uh, what did that mean to you and the unit? It didn’t mean nothing until we finished it. Um, but unfortunately, they got to 13. It It feels good to hold them to that, but at the end of the day, man, got work to do, you know? Let’s let’s keep them shut out. Let’s keep the zero on the board. Um, and take that mindset into next week. Bradley, without like getting too far ahead, does it almost feel like considering your history with Buffalo, if you could beat the Bills like this, is there a sense in the locker room of like, okay, why can’t we turn the season around? Why can’t I told you, bro, we all we all in a headsp space of like, you don’t want to say it out loud, you want to do it, but we all delusional, man. We all know what we can do and we believe that if we put our minds to it, man, we can play complimentary football like we did. The sky’s is the limit, man. You know what I mean? And it’s not like a it’s not delusional at the end of the day cuz we know we can do it. We know that we’re going to go out there and do it. And it’s just about each and every day having that same faith, that same mindset, and you know, trusting the plan, man. God got a plan for all of us. And it’s about how we go out there and execute. Just don’t take nothing for granted. What explanation did you get on that taunting penalty? It seemed like you just celebrated on your own the same dance you’ve always do. Yeah, I think I just stayed on top of them a little too long. On to the next. You know what I mean? Uh can’t do nothing about that one. It’s It hurt. They scored after that. So, I feel like I put that one on me. But, um, you know, just got to be better at that on that standpoint. How much do you like to see the offense run the ball like they did today when you know it keeps Josh Allen on the bench, keeps you guys on the sideline. Yeah. Keep that defense on the field, too. So, I thought that was that was great, man. They they felt the elements today. Uh, I was telling somebody on sideline, I wish it kept raining cuz when that sun came back out, we all felt it. You know what I mean? And when you’re in the cold climate like that, coming down here, it affects you a little bit more. So, um, having the defense on the field that whole time, it it was good for us, man. And just got to make it keep happening. Bradley, I don’t Were you aware that Bill’s fans flew like a banner above Hard Rock Stadium before the game? Oh, no. I ain’t see that. I guess considering how often they flocked to this this game, does it feel any better winning this game considering all that? It feels good winning this game because we where we’ve been with this team the past couple years, man. And ever since I’ve been here, we haven’t had much success against them. You know what I mean? And honestly, this is my first time playing them at Hard Rock cuz in 2022, I I got here after that game. 2023, I got hurt before that game. And then last year, I was I didn’t play at all. So, you know, just that was my mindset. I haven’t played them them here and I wanted to make sure it was memorable. So, they could do all the flying banners and stuff. They they they won here multiple times. So, if they had that confidence going into it, that’s fine. But, it’s about how we respond to it. Thanks, brother. Thanks, brother.

Just like the Dolphins to win for no reasonβ¦Tua was trying to give it away but I guess those defensive players have contracts to earn.
We better keep Juju Brents
Aight McDaniels way to fight for your job! π¬π―
GO MIKE. Easy to root for you. Prove the haters wrong!! Forget locker room speeches. Just win!
lol
It's a beautiful day to be a Dolphins Fan
FINS FOR THE WIN!!! π¬ π¬π¬π¬π¬
FTB!!!!
PLEASE NEVER TRADE WADDLE OR ACHANE!!! You traded too many great players since your really good season π¬π¬π¬π¬
LOVE you, Mike!!! π¬π¬π¬π¬π

I'm happy you want to be in Miami too, Devonte!! π¬π¬π¬π¬
We can hear the questions!!! Finally!!
Best Dolphins QB since Marino. ABSOLUTE FACT.
TUA!!!!!
Um, nice to see um, the real um, Dolphins show up. Um, I'm sure this is um, just the beginning.
The young guys really stepped it up today
The Dolphins are 3 – 0 when Achane has 18 carries or more
The Dolphins are 0 – 7
When Achane has 16 carries or less …
Great to witness this hopeless team win a game against the Bills. IN YOUR FACE CHRIS GRIER! ππ«΅
What a win. Perfect Sunday!
It's amazing how inconsistent this team has played this year especially the last 4 games….blowout loss, blowout win, blowout loss, blowout win.π
Love tua !!!!
1-0 without Chris Grier! π
Excellent job today, especially Achane. Very glad we kept him and Waddle. Between Grier getting canned and the win today, thats a solid for me.
Tua is a real team player. Coach says to throw a 50/50 to a short receiver & he does. If he was a "me" guy he wouldn't. I wish we had a big 6'2" fast guy that catches balls like Theo Wease
At least the interceptions today basically functioned as punts. Tua please take care of the ball roll tide
Great win today
Every so often u will see dolphins take down a shark. As a Chargers fan happy to see u guys get a big win and even more happy u got rid of your cancer Grier
Great win π
Great win coach
They needed the win in worst way !!!
lol leadership council? hahahhaa
Great job guys!!! Phins up baby!!!!!!!!
Wish fins wouldnβt cut the darn Tua press. They used to play all of Mike and all of Tuaβs and it would be long.
Miami is still fighting. This was their best game theyβve ever played against Josh Allen.
Tua is cool af π€ Don't understand all the hate tbh
Im sick and damn tired the way the media portrays this team….way to stick it to them guys and block out the nonsense
Hope we get tyreek back and can get even better. Next year can be our year depending if that defense shows up and if ollie can always convert on 3rd and short
GO MIKEY BABYYY GO FINS
Jordyn brooks held that shi downnnnnn
Total team ball
Achane is the best runing back in the league waddle is a top 5 receiver when he plays the 1 letβs play our heart out and win out lfg Miami π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬π¬
