  1. Why is Bam so important to this team?

If we’re scoring a lot without Bam, holding teams to lower shooting percentages in relative to us, and “guarding our yard,” as Bam likes to say. Why does he matter so much?

Some of this is partly true, it leaves out the bigger issue.

We’re getting crushed in the possession battle, and most of that comes down to rebounding. We can shoot a higher FG% / 3PT% than our opponent. ANd if we keep losing the rebound battle therefore the possession game, we’re still giving the other team more chances to score and a chance to win the game.

Think of it this way…. if we hit 5 shots on 10 possessions (50%), but the opponent hits 6 shots on 20 possessions (30%), they still end up with more total points simply because they had more opportunities. I know this is an exaggerated example, but the point stands. Efficiency doesn’t always matter if the other team gets more chances.

Do I think if we had Bam to we would have out-rebounded the Knicks?

No. Mitchell Robinson is one of the best rebounders in the league.

But what Bam is good at is help neutralize to a certain extent opposing bigs by boxing them out, letting our other players grab the board. That alone changes everything about how we control games.

And this connects to our offense.

We’re at our best when we push the pace off makes and esp misses. But when the opponent keeps grabbing offensive rebounds, it leads to 2nd chance points, and free throws. It gives them more time for them to set up their defense. Every extra rebound they get slows us down.

    I miss our Captain.

Side Note: I think both Bam and Tyler will be back next game vs the Knicks.

  2. Ready for them to comeback. I hope the offense continues to run smoothly and explosively with herro back in the mix
