or how did you use the way you improve tonight? Uh, you know, two mistakes in the third period. Um, that’s about it. Consider considering just that you got a better group here. Are you a little bit surprised that closing out games has been a challenge? Yeah, cuz last year was we were excellent at it and um right now it’s like, you know, we’re just a little bit um unconfident, you know, I’d say right now, you know, but got to get through that because we got the leads and um we have an opportunity to close this game out and win it. And you know, we get a power play in the third, we don’t do anything with it either. What can you do as a coach to instill confidence in your group when it’s low? Yeah. No, that’s a good question. And I I mean I got to motivate him the best way I can. And maybe it’s a kick in the ass, but maybe it’s positive reinforcement, too. You know, like I said, we did a lot of good things. I think we had 11 or 12 A’s tonight, and we only get two goals out of it. You know, I think we’d score more than that for the most part, but you’re going to have games like that, but you know, we’re I think we’re, you know, I tonight we trended in the right direction, but we still got to do a better job. You know, like little things that cause games. And tonight, there was two little things in the third period that cost us the hockey game. What did you make of Joseph’s game? He was good. He did he did his job. He looked good to me in that tonight. I don’t think he could have done anything on any of those goals. What did you see from the power play? Just, you know, we we had possession on I think it was the second PP. first PP they did a good job at their stand and you know the second one we started putting it behind them and going to work and we got the puck back and we had good possession I didn’t see enough you know attempts to the net you know from my standpoint and the third power play we just was no execution on it not not a ton of ice time for my miss what what are you seeing with the mix of your deep cares and the whole balance of of ice time yeah for sure I think you know our top guys played a lot tonight on the back end Um, you know, right now we’re we’re missing two guys that play minutes. You know, that’s the way it goes. So, I don’t I don’t think there’s any solution. Like, these guys got to do the job when they’re out there. And, uh, we need more from, you know, those guys too that don’t play a lot of minutes, you know, like it’s a balance, right? Um, we used our top guys a lot tonight. What’ you see from that? I thought he was good tonight. You know, I know he made a mistake putting the puck over the glass, but overall he had some good opportunities. I thought that he worked and skated well, made some good plays, had some opportunities to score. Um, you know, so I was I was happy with his game overall and still he’s still learning. He’s a kid, right? There’s mistakes, but um it’s not from a lack of effort or competitiveness, you know. I thought he skated well and did some good things tonight. You mentioned confidence after the tangle went into the third. Did you notice anything change on the bench or guys tighten up at all? Well, I don’t I didn’t notice any of that, but you’d have to ask them. We see all the injured guys are on the trip here. Why why was it important to have the whole group together? Um, just wanted everybody here and I think it’s good they come on the road with us.

  9. Lineup stinks. Treliving blew it with Laughton, Carlo, Johnson and icing a terrible defence. and now no futures. We Leaf fans have seen this show many times. No where near a Cup contender and sinking fast.

  10. This guy has no clue man. Take his ring away, that shit is fake. He says the same shit all the time. You are the head coach, your job is to fix the problem. If the assistant coaches have shit strategies you are supposed to step in and tell them they suck and fix it because you are the HEAD COACH. Brad and MLSE just going to let this season go to waste because they like Berube for some reason. The whole team sucks playing under Berube, that is on the coach.

  11. Always amusing watching the knee jerk reactions from the hyperbolic faction of Leaf 'fans'. This is the same coach who coached them to 108 points & 1st in the Atlantic last season, but now he's apparently useless. Let's be fair. Chicago got outplayed. They were lucky to win the game & they know it. When you're on a losing streak & can't bury golden opportunities, (3 posts, 3 breakaways & at least 4 odd man rushes for) where they couldn't finish. They won the most puck battles & outhit Chicago 28 to 14. Phillipe Myers hasn't got a clue how to play in his own zone. 2 Hawks goals directly on poor decisions by him. Play Stecher, he can't possibly be any worse than Myers. The Leafs have been outscored 5-12 at 5 on 5 when Myers is on the ice. That's all you need to know.

  13. How to build confidence?
    Looking good = feeling good! Team building exercise while on the road at a barbershop / men’s spa, then shopping for new suits which are mandatory for the next game!
    Some of the guys are looking a little haggard and need some TLC :/

  14. as for me thanks for the gifts you give all the children who watch,,, and as role models, its a hell of a thing when things go south,,, stay in the dance and do your best,, its a blessing for us out siders, with really no thoughts of our own about how that life works,,, GOD BLESS, Paul.

  15. As a Leaf fan, I've seen this before. It's still early but we better start making hay while the sun shines.The way they played for the 2nd goal is how they must play going forward. Blue and white til I die.

  18. The same man is responsible for assembling the 2 worst teams in the league. Calgary and Toronto. Coaching wants bigger, stronger, tough defensive play. He got bigger but older, slower, soft and unable to defend. That's coaching. Only team on earth that can make Austin Mathews disappear.. It's a tough watch and it ain't getting any better. Long winter ahead..

  20. Time to start benching the supposed stars! Nylander is the laziest player on the ice every night! Reilly…uuugh, nothing positive to say about that guy. Why not bring up a few the Marlies for a few games. Pathetic. Definitely not a playoff team at this point.

  23. The team has experienced a loss of five games. Is Marner being held accountable for this? Marner's performance, with 19 points in 17 games, suggests he would be a valuable asset to a new team, where he would likely be met with considerable respect. No leafs No

  24. Was Treliving a winner in Calgary? Nope, but Shanny, who hired loser Dubas, hired him. Berube, won a cup with a hot 4th string goalie, then the team sucked for years and he got fired. But leafs hired him. Retreads. Leafs best team had core 4, Hyman, Kadri. Dubas screwed that up, and now look at roster. 6,7 useless forwards, goalie who cant keep his mouth shut and stop pucks, and 2 to 3 horrible defensemen. Anyone that expects this to be more than a 500 club are delusional. Woll played well.

  30. the leafs were a goalie away from a cup last year then they let the best player go away and were is the future talent this team is a mess from people who cant even see which players are best for the team it is just common sense I,m 60 and could have won a cup for free if you had hired me

  34. Does ownership really care if they win or lose? Either way its publicity. The rink sells out no matter what. TV deal money comes in no matter what. Maple leafs crap sells at Christmas. Its all about money. They make it regardless.

  36. It embarrassing losing to the Blackhawks like come on guys we had a 2 goal lead in the second period and then we went downhill we need more scoring from everyone tbh and when we have a chance to clear the puck we don’t get out and we get caught in our own zone
