  1. Remember it well, my uncle (the Vikings Fan) Theew my Dad (The Bears Fan) out of his house.

  2. This was such a great moment in the 1985 season. Tiny bit of context: McMahon was supposed to sit this game out with a pinched nerve. Bears were losing though, and McMahon being McMahon, he convinced Ditka to put him in and rallied the Bears for a comeback victory. Phenomenal.

  3. that first throw to gault, over the top. yeah i get that Burden isn’t the track star gault was but the guy can run. How bout at least try a couple plays throwing to him over the top of the defense? it worked on the flea flicker. let the man run! his QB has a strong arm after all. doesn’t make sense not to try that play more than we have been. plus, the data shows Burden is unlikely to drop the ball.

  4. McMahon had spent a night earlier that week in the hospital with either neck or back spasms. Ditka didn’t want to play him (for good reason) but after an entire half of having McMahon chasing him down the sideline screaming at him to play, Ditka said fine and the rest is history.

  5. Remember when Jim McMahon showed up at half time and the Bears won the Super Bowl, do ya!?

  6. “Summoned an ailing Jim McMahon off the bench”

Wrong. McMahon wanted to play, but since he didn’t practice all week, Ditka WOULD’NT play him. It took McMahon chirping and getting in Ditka’s ear all game for him to send McMahon in

  7. That freeze and all I’m thinking is “McMahon is gonna get crushed” and then it resumes and Walter like a rocket with the crushing hit instead. Have vague memories of watching these guys play, but not old enough to truly remember and appreciate.
