They’re 03 and one heading into this one. It’s worse now. Also, no Stallers. Wool’s back. We like that Wool’s back. We can talk about Wool being back, but also Carlos not playing. Um you might be like, “Oh, that’s all right.” Right. But then you remember that it means Phil Myers has to play and no Austin Matthews. Listen, you can’t just go into every game, especially if you’re going to willingly watch a game expecting your team to lose. Every day is a gift. And seeing this lineup made me wish I had kept the receipt. This is what they headed into the game with. Robertson, Tvaris, Knander, legitimately an incredible line. Nice wa cowan Michelli doy mcman it wrong incorrect Joshua Lorren yarn croak actually pretty effective overall not bad I didn’t say good but not bad the D pairs Benois McCabe Ecman Larson Joseph Wen I know many of you never want to see Riley Meyers again and I’m here to tell you you’re never going to see Riley Meyers again ever till the end of time. There’s no way. I said that about Doy playing center. I’m just going to keep making ridiculous sounds until I feel better. But like that I’m fairly certain was Philip Meyer’s last game as a Toronto Maple Leaf. Um he got set on fire in the third period. Frank Nazar set him on fire. We all witnessed a crime. It happened on the ice and 20,000 people cheered for it. It was gruesome. It was grotesque. What have we become as a society? And then, if I’m not mistaken, I don’t think he played another shift. So, big thanks to Frank Nazar for um helping the Leafs. Welcome the Troy Ster era. Thank goodness for now until he annoys us too. But I don’t think he will as much. Listen, the Leafs were going to be up against it to win in this one. The Chicago Blackhawks have had a great start to the season. They are fast, they are young, they are energetic, they are skilled. The only thing keeping me going through the first few minutes of this game is Joseph Wool looks sharp. Joseph Wool looks dialed. Wool obviously missed training camp. He missed lots of time. He was away from the team. We don’t need to know any more than that. But he goes and has his conditioning stint with the Toronto Marlies and he wasn’t particularly great. So he comes into this game and I’m like, is he gonna be particularly great? From puck drop to final horn, he was dialed, giving the team save after save, looking poised, playing the puck well, except for one time, but it didn’t cost them, so it’s okay. And the Leafs thanked him by abandoning him. Screenshots will not do it justice. This is the NHL edge simulator and it’s just a big old bunch of running around and guessing. This isn’t even This isn’t half of how bad it was. Machelli’s on the ice. I question how long he’s going to be here. Doy’s on the ice at center. Oh my god. Bobby McMahon has never done anything wrong. That’s okay. Jake McCabe is struggling, but he had a really good game in this one. Philip Meyers never ever ever get on the ice again. He was signed to a multi-year contract last season. A wuga. Levunov sets up Ryan Green. Levunov had a legitimately great game all night long. And Green scores his second goal of the season. Leafs are down one- nothing. I immediately lose my will to live and I’m convinced that this is going to be a long night. What followed was actually one of the most entertaining competitive back andforth games the Leafs have played this season. And these are the hardest kinds of LFR video to make. Number one, they lost. Number two, they played legitimately well. Number three, no one wants to hear it. After all, they’re way down at the bottom of the standings. Although, this is hilarious. The Leafs are 15th in the East. Um, there’s four points that separates 15th in the East from fourth. There are two teams in the entire Eastern Conference that are below 500. Dude, that’s it. The Leafs are one of them. Um, oh no, but it it’s not a lost season yet. You got to try to win these things. And Nick, absolute Robertson. Absolutely taking the bull by the horns. He has been in the top six for how long now? How long? Before this season began, supposedly Nick Robertson was offered to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for I think it was Eigor Chitikov. And it was Columbus who said no. I wouldn’t take that deal now, would you? Gavvaris, who might honest to goodness be the best player on the team, digs in front, has two great chances at it, and it’s Nick Robertson going to the net for his fifth of the season. Nick Robertson is scoring at a 22 goal 50point pace. He is skating his to off. He is fighting. He is digging. He has evolved so much as a player. I love him. May he never leave. Also, this team has been reprehensible since the moment the season began. You trade absolutely anyone if it makes you better, but he makes the Leafs better right now. And what happens after that is it actually followed a number of very good shifts by the Leafs as they tried to tie it up. And then once they finally tied it up in the final minute of the period, they go to first intermission with a tied game. They’ve fought hard and they are outshooting the competition. It’s a low low low very low bar, but that was one of the Leaf’s better first periods in recent memory. Second period. Second period begins. Awful. awful. The Leafs don’t know how to line change in the second period and the first 90 seconds is them chasing their own tail. Well, luckily they weathered the storm again. Joseph Wool was fantastic in his season debut. And Morgan Riley, who I just had a clip go out from the STP where I was like, I think I’m done with this guy. He scored a goal that probably shouldn’t have counted. William Knander gets an assist. How come he got an assist? Did he touch that puck? How did he touch that puck? Well, anyway, it goes to Oliver Ecman Larson who is quickly evolving into someone I would die for. Hands it to Morgan Riley who goes to the net and he buries it moments after he almost buried it. That was a great shift for Mo. His third of the season and goodness gracious, great Mo of fire. I didn’t know what to say. I don’t know. Sometimes I start talking and I think it’s going to come to me. Oh, has a great game and the Leafs have a lead and that is how it would stay after two. You’re getting great shots. You’re basically trading with the Blackhawks. You’re getting chances. You’re basically trading with the Blackhawks. Blackhawks have the slight edge there, but Wool looks fantastic. Has not lost the step. Now, at the other end of the ice, Spencer Knight is looking real good, too. You don’t know if you’re going to score against him again. Not to mention the Blackhawks are a much improved team from last year. And when Knight is in net, I didn’t realize this about him because it’s not like he played very much in Florida. That guy’s like a third defenseman back there. He loves playing the puck. Well, five minutes into the third period. Hope doesn’t die right away. Not right away. The Blackhawks attack, but it looks like everything should be covered. You’re sending a guy, you got a guy. And there’s another guy with that guy, you got a guy for that guy. Now, what everyone is going to remember about the Teavot Terrain and goal that tied this game 22 is how sick the Tavot Terraining goal that made it 2-2 was. What you are going to forget is what was the last shift of Philip Meyers Leaf’s career where he loses a puck battle because Table Terravine should have never ever gotten the puck on this play. Size is not everything and this play confirms that, but you’d like it to mean something. According to Hockey DB, Philip Myers is 6’5, which is actually shorter than I thought he was, 221 pounds. Frank Nazar Naser Na Frank is 510, 190 pounds. He’s an incredible player. He’s extremely good. And I’m not like maybe I shouldn’t be surprised that Frank Nazar, who was picked 13th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks, uh, beat Philip Myers at anything, but oh my god, that allows for the easy pass to Tavo Terrain. Terrain makes an incredible move through Morgan Riley and he beats Joseph Wool. I think my goalposts are going to be kind to Joseph Wool in his season debut. Holy Moses. I’ve told this story before, I’ll tell it again. Ken Reed from Sportsnet one time was like, “Why does every goal, why does every breakdown of a goal have to be about how a player did poorly or how someone screwed up? Why can’t it just be incredible?” I look at the Terrain portion of this goal and go, “That’s just incredible.” I don’t even know if I give it to Mo there. I don’t I definitely don’t give it to Wool. That is incredible from Terrain. I do give it to Myers, though, because none of that should have happened. Okay, so now it’s tied. It’s tied. It’s not great that it’s tied, but it’s tied. Eastston Cowan back with the team. I thought he had an incredible night. I thought he could have had a hat-tick in this one, but he took the team’s only two penalties, and one of them, the delay, a game in the third, was so tough, but I tell you what, the penalty kill stood tall. Wool stood tall. Nick Wah filling in heavy for Austin Matthews. Jake McCabe filling in heavy. This team was mean to Connor Baddard all night long. That kid is incredible and he was getting frustrated and it’s because the Leafs leaned on him all night. Late in the third, Oel and McCabe are out there. Blackhawks digging in the corner. Colton Doc comes out of the corner and goes into the slot. Jake McCabe is with him now. This is incredible from Colton Dock. It’s really good stuff. But also, Donado breaks free from Oliver Ecman Larson, creating some havoc. Maybe he distracted Mabe a little bit, not to mention the screen on Wool. But Crevier fires it on, Doc tips it perfectly downwards, and it bounces. I don’t know what it says in the goalie handbook for how to stop that satanic demon spawn of a shot, but I don’t blame Wolf for that one either. And it doesn’t matter anyway because you got to score a goal, man. They faded over the course of this game. As good as they looked after one, as good as they looked after two, they were the second best team in the third by enough of a margin that they lost. I gotta say, like I’m gonna keep calling the guy out because like one thing we did last year, we did this with Marner, we did this with Willie, we’ve done it with Tvarus at times when the Leafs were missing Matthews. We talked about the other guys stepping it up and Knander lots of times has stepped it up and he’s put up a bunch of points this season, but in terms of both ends of the ice, I still hate the way he changes lines. Am I alone in saying that line of Tvaris Robertson Knander tonight was the third best member of that line? Like, I’m not blaming him for the loss. I’m not blaming him for why the Leafs couldn’t tie this game, but in a game that was so close and was decided by so little if we had just got a little more from Willie on this one. And you know, then I thought about the hockey gods and the Leafs have lost more games than they’ve won this season, but in the games that they’ve won, they’ve deserved to lose a bunch of them. You know what they haven’t really done this season is lose games they should have won. Now, I know what you’re thinking. What Steve? Just their last game they had like a twogoal lead and then they lost in overtime. Yeah. Yeah. No, they were awful. Actually, this is totally different. It’s a shame because it’s a great example of uh like that’s a game you could build on. It’s a game where you could go shuck G willilickers. That’s an honest loss. We played them and it was back and forth and lots of fun and we played decently structured and we actually got a bunch of shots and this and that and that. The the Joseph Wool performance was the best news to me. He was incredible. You get Eastston Cowan back. He was very good. There was lots to like about this game and I can hear you through the screen aggressively not caring because they lost and it was their fifth straight loss. It’s not great. Now, I don’t do this nearly as often as I should, but Blackhawks fans, if I were you, you know, I thought the Blackhawks rebuild was going really, really, really poorly. Connor Baddard was depressing to watch last year. Then I started doing, oh wow, their videos on the SDP YouTube channel where we talk about the best plays from around the OHL, Ontario Hockey League over the past week. We now do WHL version of that. We do a QMJHL version of that. I couldn’t believe how many Blackhawks prospects were in the O Wow videos. And Nick Lardis, who I believe is leading the AHL in scoring, or he was, is a Blackhawks prospect. He’s not even on the team right now. One of the things that I said is Bard just feels alone out there. He doesn’t feel alone out there anymore. To me, the biggest reason for that upfront anyway is Frank Nazar Nazar Nazer. Can someone like confirm how to say that? Lev Shunoff I know had limited NHL time last year. Oh my gosh, he looks great. It’s a very young Dor. Lots of young pieces up front. I really hope Nick Felino is okay. By the way, that did not look good at all. I will say this, the Blackhawks look good right now. They’re going to be great. Part of the reason they’re not great is they make ridiculous decision decisions with the puck. ridiculous passes that don’t make any sense. It’s ridiculous sloppy pond hockey and it’s so much fun. Ah. Ah, I wish I remember when the Leafs were young and dumb and it was a lot more fun and enjoyable than this. Now Leafs have two days off here. Two. People have talked about how this team has played so much at home. They need to get out on the road. They need to bond. They need to get away from it all from all the Toronto. for the next two days. Here’s your opportunity. And then you have the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have been awful. St. Louis is where Joseph Wall is from. You might want to play for the guy. And speaking of guys you might want to play for, Craig Barub is not going to want to lose this game. He brought them a cup and they fired him. You lose this game and you lose it in a bad way. You’ve lost six straight. You get on the phone and you call teams until someone on your hockey team is no longer on your hockey team. Tuesday against St. Louis is all of a sudden a must-win. And I’m not exaggerating. I don’t care how good this game was. You can’t lose six straight and expect your season to go well. That is it for this one. Thank you very much for watching. Click like if you like this video. So, click subscribe if you really liked it. Tell your friends. The uh the one side effect of the Leafs being this bad is is uh I’m already at midseason sexy voice time. Win a game, bro. like

3 games before the fans turn on woll 🤡
So who will the Bruins draft sixth overall with Toronto’s pick?
It's not Myers' fault for his defensive lapses. He is wearing number 51, Jake Gardiner's old number. It is cursed.
Meanwhile the Sabers THE SABERS were able to make a multigoal comeback and win in OT
You know it's bad when Dangle blinks that much
I just happened to catch this take Dangle has on Myers and the goal, and had to comment. I agree Myers is not a strong player, and has been much worse this year than last. However, on this goal there are two Leafs who are far more responsible. Myers didn't have a puck battle he lost, it got tipped by him by a much faster player who manage to get a great pass across. Myers stopped him from getting to the net, after that it goes to his teammates. The problem starts back in the Hawks zone. Tavares was with Teravainen and let him go. That was his man, he should have stuck with him. Mistake number two, Rielly let a 20-25 goal 50-60 point player undress him like he was a peewee defenceman. If it was someone like McDavid I would cut those two some slack, but playing good defence involves all 5 players on the ice paying attention to detail for the full 200 feet. I like both of those guys a lot, but Rielly needs to be on the ice with a VERY STRONG defensive defenceman at this point in his career, and also have the forwards playing strong in their own zone. To get the best out of any player they need to be in a position to succeed. That involves every player bearing down and working hard. I agree with dangle about Nylander. he needs to decide if he wants to be considered a truly great player by playing both ends of the ice, or just keep padding his career stats, with no chance for a Cup. He has his big contract with term and security. It should be about the team winning at this point.
All I know is that 82 games is too much and 84 games is around the corner. And leafs fans and media are the worst.
That thumbnail 😂🤣
The defense is the same players as last year but you wouldn’t know it and the only thing it could be is Lalonde because under Lambert that defense group was one of the best in the league last year.
They all look lost including the forwards. Also, Steve to give up on Myers is absolutely ridiculous. McCabe, Rielly and Myers all of them look terrible because I think Lalonde isn’t the right guy.
This is looking from the outside but it is the only change from last year
13:41 this is the weirdness of Toronto, I don't see it elsewhere, why is this a thing? When Patrick Kane was injured on the Blackhawks nobody went "Toews you gotta go step it up out there" no we expected our players to play THEIR game and hoped we'd be the better whole TEAM at the end of 60 minutes, expecting players to step up in those situations where you're missing one of your BEST players will ONLY lead to disappointment. Even when a single player IS stepping up the team as a whole is collapsing.
Rumor has it that Steve's therapist can now afford a house in the Bridal Path area of Toronto. We feel your pain, Steve. Buffalo needs just 3 points to put the Make Beliefs in the Atlantic division basement.
That intro almost made me choke on my food 😂
The Leafs season is getting to the point now where I watch LFR only, and I don't even bother to watch the actual game – because I already know the outcome before it starts.
As a Chicago fan, that game was crazy, it really could have been anyone’s game but man Spencer knight is just crazy in net…and I als agree that chicago is a good team very young and strong but they aren’t a cup winning team, I can’t wait for the future of that franchise and man it’s gunna be crazy
The Leafs were "young and dumb." There are usually 4 more words in this saying.
They won't make the playoffs. Ive got money on it.
Leafs ain’t making the playoffs 😂have fun watching Edmonton win the cup
This year wouldn’t be as painful if we didn’t trade our first round draft pick.
Sooo, everyone indoors by themselves or with close friends calls them the Blackcocks, right?
Frank Nay-zarr 🤣🤣🤣
Every time I watch the Leafs now I think oh it’s not that bad. And then I start drinking and realize it is sooooooo bad. Steve you are gonna get me through this season I swear
The hawks also have 21 year old Roman kantserov who’s leading the Khl in goals
How in the world did you think the Chicago rebuild was doing poorly? They have been making consistently amazing moves, had infinite draft capital, and their contracts are lined up well so their young stars won't have any trouble getting their money.
Just for fun, I looked online to see what tickets were going to be for the upcoming Leafs / Habs game on December the 6th. It's unlikely that I could go, I was just curious as to how much tickets were.
And what I saw just proved to me why the Leafs will remain ineffective.
The tickets that I saw were in the lower bowl, I believe it was section 117. Not reseller tickets, but original tickets. They were over $800 a piece.
And the stadium was basically sold out.
This just proves, yet again, that MLSE has no incentive to put a quality product on the ice, because they sell out every single game at ridiculous prices anyway.
Bringing in plugs like Maccelli, Joshua and Roy. 😂😂 Treliving and Berube should have never been hired.
