TOUGH DECISIONS FOR THE DETROIT RED WINGS…
Yeah. So, uh, tough decisions, eh? Is there even a decision to make at this point? I do not know. But I guess when you look at the fan base, there are a number of things that we can highlight that Red Wings fans are talking about. So, as we spoke about in the previous video, the last video on the channel was talking about Montreal and Vancouver. It was talking about the game last night between Montreal and Boston. Well, the Detroit Red Wings had themselves a game last night as well. Here it is. Oh, uh, you can’t see that. Let’s put that on the screen here. Here it is. Detroit ended up losing to the Buffalo Sabres 54 in overtime. And the thing that you might notice right away when you look at the numbers, hey, guess what? The Sabres scored five goals on 27 shots against. So that automatically means that John Gibson had an 815 save percentage in 60 minutes and 30 seconds of time on ice. Now that’s not particularly great. I don’t think you can expect to win many National Hockey League games with an 815 save percentage. It has been done before, of course. I mean, the Red Wings were one shot away themselves from winning this hockey game. But this game was one that was particularly frustrating for Red Wings fans because in the words of the very great Gary Thorne had it, lost it. Take a look at this right here. So the Red Wings, they got themselves up 4-1 in this hockey game. Patrick Kane scores his third goal of the season. One- nothing Detroit. Alex Tuck ties things up one at the end of the first. Second period comes along and you have Alex de Brinket from Lucas Raymond. You have Dylan Larkin from Lucas Raymond and Mosider. You have Alex Debrinket from Lucas Raymond and Mosider. I am eating like a king because my goodness de Brinket and Raymond are popping off for me in fantasy. I needed this man. It’s a tight matchup. I am feeling like the free Burger King crown that sits upon my head because hey, the Red Wings are doing well. They’re up 4-1. And at this point of the day, I’m like, “Oh, wow. That’s amazing.” Like, they’re doing so well. They’re controlling play. They’re scoring points. Their brinkets getting on the board and the power play. I mean, just look at the puck movement over there. Ah, how nice is it to be able to watch a team that actually has a competent power play go out there and move the puck and score some goals. That’s great. But then, uh, disaster strikes for Detroit because Josh Don then scores at the end of the second to make it 4-2. Then Ta Thompson scores at the start of the third to make it 4-3. And five minutes left, you have Ryan Mloud who ties the game up 44 short-handed. You talk about the power play doing well. Well, you can’t be turning the puck over like this. Mo Cider, you got stripped. Stripped right there. And eventually he comes in, he shoots, and he scores. Overtime was even crazier because you won’t see it from the edge goal visualizer thing, but this overtime goal was so funny. Like Tae Thompson totally dummies Alex Debrink. He comes into the offensive zone. It’s of course the Red Wings defensive zone and De Brinkett’s there trying to hold the puck back from Tage Thompson preventing control and preventing a chance. But Thompson just pushes him away. He blows on him and he falls. It’s a pretty ridiculous sight seeing Debrink who is only 5 foot uh what is he is he 5’8 something like that and Tage Thompson who’s an entire foot taller than the guy and let’s see if we can replay the thing over here but you can see Tage Thompson he picks up the pass in the middle he comes in on Brinket and then he just shoves de Brinket away before doing a really nice beautiful backhand soft spin pass to Matias Samuelson who walks in and fires it on John Gibson. It beats him five hole and the Wings suffer what is one of the most embarrassing losses they have had all year and you have folks going out there and complaining about some of the discourse afterwards. Take a look at this. Redwing dieard said Todd Mlen saying that Gibson was very good is just flatout BS. an 815 in the national on any given night is not very good. Like come on. The guy makes over $6 million to play goalie and on every given night he’s only stopping four or five. I’m ready to give Kosa a look. Now, I know what you might be thinking. Wait a minute. Isn’t he hurt? Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, too. But that’s not going to stop these folks on social media from talking about the goalending in Detroit and asking whether or not it’s actually not good enough. We just made a video yesterday about Cam Talbot. If the Red Wings fall out of favor and they don’t get themselves a playoff birth, could Cam Talbot get traded? Okay, we’re talking about Red Wings goending not being good. Well, now we’re talking about other guys potentially getting traded. It’s all over the place in terms of the coverage of this team. But let’s go out there and read one of the top replies. This ain’t on Gibson. Thor Odinson said he’s literally being hung out to dry. Gibson made some real big saves in this game. The team’s piss poor coverage and constant turnovers are leading to those goals. It’s brutal. A goalie save percentage is part a reflection on team D as well. And then Red Wings die hard says, “I’m literally asking for one big save in the third period from the $6 million goalie, man. which I can honestly say that’s pretty fair. You’re paying him a decent amount of money. You would expect him to make at least one game- saving save a game. But John Gibson has not been able to do that so far. It all boils down to that PDIO conversation. It just doesn’t go away. The idea that the Red Wings goending has been subpar despite the fact that they have been getting results and even in this game they got a point. So, it’s not the worst it could have been, but of course, we’re not going to say, “But blowing a 4-1 lead is a good thing.” Let’s go out there and read this. You listened to Todd break down the lapses in the game, and you still came to this conclusion that Gibson was the problem. Give me a break. The coach has no problem calling out skaters regularly. Several losses, you’re one to two big saves away from two points. But let’s keep giving a pass to the guy who makes six million bucks a year to stop pucks and whom everyone told me would finally solve the goalending issues even though he has been very underwhelming. Now, if we dive into John Gibson and his overall profile, we will see that yes, he has had a pretty rough go this season. 875 save percentage and a 331 goals against. That’s not good. That’s not starter territory. That’s not number one goalie territory. I mean, John Gibson, the last over 900 game he had was the Vegas game, 971, 33 saves on 34 shots against, of course, the Red Wings lost that one, one- nothing, but all these other games after 789 against Chicago, 882 against the Anaheim Ducks, 815 against the Sabres. Yes, it’s true. Gibson is getting some wins, but he hasn’t fully taken over like he did last year. Last year, he had a 912 save percentage in 29 games. Sure, that happened primarily because he was injured and he was in and out of the lineup so often that he never really got a chance to get fatigued, but when he was playing, he was generally good. And so John Gibson, tough go, but he went out there and played for a Red Wings team that let him down defensively and was not able to hold on to the lead. Not because the goalending was subpar, but because they just choked it away. The team choked it away. And now you look at some of the discourse about how this went down. I mean, a lot of Red Wings fans are super pissed off in the subreddit. You read the postgame thread. 4 to1 is the most dangerous lead in hockey. I do not envy Todd Mlen. Can’t do anything but laugh. Imagine if Raz Muin or Soderblum was half the player tagged. At least they got a point. Yesterday someone commented Gibson can’t track pucks and looks down at every shot and now I can’t unsee that. It is embarrassing. It says the team always finds new ways to disappoint me. Look, this commenter is going out there and posting a picture of Sebastian Kosa. I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. Is that the solution here? Is Sebastian Kosa the way to go for Detroit at this point? Do you believe in the goalending to carry the team? And do you think it is a big issue at this stage? Or is it more so a reflection of the negatives of the team in front of the goalenders that leads to these results? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. I hope you enjoyed this British Ash 9 and bye.

As of Gibsons 1st game here in ][)etroit , I ALWAYS still felt way more comfortable with Talbot in net. I thought it was just a first couple weeks game jitters or nerves from playing for the actual Redwings who have had goaltending issues ever since Howard was done (in my opinion). But Gibson has not shown any signs of being a #1 anywhere close to in front of Talbot. Maybe it's just me but I think many feel this way at this point in the season as well. I hope Gibson finds himself, it's sad watching the Redwings being a destination where good goalies come to die.
I told everyone preseason that no goaltender could change this situation. We have D that are unable to clear out the front of the net and skate around as if they're surprised to be on ice plus forwards who don't come back to help. You simply don't win games like this.
Their key players are to small and lack speed, that line of DeBrincat, Larkin and Raymond play against every other teams top lines. You can't play against competition for an 82 game season that out weighs you by 20 + lbs. and has a significant height advantage. Physicality , speed and net presence at both ends of the ice will determine who makes into the post season.
Expecting Gibson or any goalie to have a .900 or better average save % on this team is delusional. Bringing up Cossa would be the same as changing out goalies, after having a mid game collapse, to boost team morale
Loss is squarely on the coach refusing to change goalies after 3 goals yet again or calling a timeout. 🤦🏻
It’s not tough decision FIRE YZERSCAM get a gm who can improve this team and no players on this team are untouchable
Any one on a beer league understands your not going to win when the oppositions goalie is making good saves, your out shooting, out playing them and every single time they get a shot on net it may or does go in. Thats exactly what’s going on right now. It’s hard to play when you can’t trust your goalie.
This loss was not even close to being on Gibson. Top pair defenders were trash. Talk about giving Gibson a pass but what about Seider. That was a brutal game by him.
I couldn't believe #93 got manhandled like that, tough loss
Let's go Red Wings!! Wooo!!
It feels good to be King 👑 😂
