The New Orleans Saints Received MASSIVE News During The Bye Week

[Music] The Saints received some very impactful news during their by-week. The Falcons and the Panthers just finished up their game in Atlanta. And in overtime, the Panthers took down the Falcons. And they had some really notable updates that impact the New Orleans Saints because here next Sunday, the Falcons and the Saints will play each other in New Orleans. Saints versus Falcons. After the bye-week, Tyler Shuck came off a very hot game and a win. And I really am excited about this Falcons versus Saints games at home because we all know how these typically go. Now, the injury news is really important to discuss for Drake London and Michael Penn, but I want to first kind of talk about how this game went for the Falcons. And we know how the Panthers, the Saints took care of business. They stopped Rico Dattle. And I got to give credit to the Falcons. They did a good job of limiting Rico Dattle. However, Bryce Young threw for a franchise record 448 yards and three touchdowns in this game. He was sacked five times. And in my opinion, the Black and Gold need to have a game plan for the Falcons pass rush. That defense does have some nice players on it. However, they were beat through the air and the New Orleans Saints did exactly that while also finding a lot of success on the ground against Carolina. And I think this upcoming week, the New Orleans Saints need to find a good game plan to make sure Tyler Shuck is comfortable, to make sure he is protected, and also to make sure that they have a game plan for Bejon Robinson because the Falcons offense, especially if Pennix and Drake London or one or the other are dealing with injuries, it’s going to severely go through Kyle Pittz, Bejian Robinson, and Tyler Algier. So, let’s talk about the injuries. Final score 30 to 27 in Atlanta. Uh, by the way, this is the first time in five years that Atlanta has lost five in a row. Uh, they also lost back-to-back games in overtime. And we are on fire Raheem Morris watch. He may get canned soon. I don’t know if that’ll happen this week. Don’t know if it’ll happen before the game, but I can tell you that Falcons fans in Atlanta, they are not having good vibes around that team. Now, Michael Pennix, he left the game uh in the third quarter with a knee injury and Raheem Morris had no immediate updates on the injuries for Michael Penn or Drake London. By the way, both were seen walking around uh postgame. It didn’t seem like they had major pain there according to what I’m seeing on social media from Jason Kendall of the Athletic. Now, I I will say when it comes to Michael Penn and Drake London, the Falcons are obviously going to want them on the field, but it’s very very impactful because if they can’t go, Kurt Cousins will be playing and he is very very clearly not the same quarterback he once was. The guy that they signed for like $150 million and payer paying way too much money to be a backup. Like quite frankly, he just isn’t good. So, if panics cannot go, the New Orleans Saints defense has a really big opportunity to have a massive day, especially in the pass rush department. And honestly, I think even the defensive backs could have a really good opportunity. Now, with Drake London, if he cannot go, the Falcons do have some other players on the roster that you will need to kind of keep an eye on. And with the Falcons, I do think that they have some talent in terms of their offensive firepower. Darnell Mooney is nice. Kyle Pittz has potential. Bejian Robinson, one of the best backs in the league. Tyler Algier is a dog. And I want to emphasize one thing for this game. It’s a rivalry game. It does not matter who is available, who is not. It does not matter the record. It does not matter the situation. This is a rivalry game. It’s not about who’s the better team. It’s about who wants it more. It’s about who’s going to go out there and execute. Who’s going to hit somebody harder than the other? Who’s going to finish the play? Who’s going to play a cleaner brand of football? And if the New Orleans Saints want to find a way to win, they’re going to need to do all of those things. Kurt Cousins, he took over at the end of the third quarter. He did not have a great game. Um, I’m looking at the box score right now and I just got to tell you right now, 20 Hold on. I want to make sure I have this correct because that’s not I want to make sure I have this correct. Um, Kurt Cousins, he did not have an amazing game. Obviously, Drake London is a really talented player. I think that they should have leaned on him more throughout the game. First half, he was really great. But then Pennix goes out. You would think Kirk Cousins would feed Drake London, but he got hurt towards the end of the game. They go to overtime. He’s not a factor. By the way, Drake London ruled out very, very quick. It was a knee injury right there. But Kurt Cousins finished six of 14, 48 yards. And I think that the Saints need to make sure that they find a way to game plan for both quarterbacks. Game plan for all the receiver options. game plan for all of the potential ways that the Falcons can scheme up their offense. Um, the game obviously went to overtime. It didn’t look like the injury for Drake London was all that bad. I watched the clip of it. really didn’t seem like anything. It was major, but this is something to monitor and this is a situation to watch because if you see the injury report come out Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and you don’t see positive news, you don’t see limited participate or participation at least in Atlanta, then you could see a massive, massive handicap for the Falcons. By the way, uh they have one more win and one less loss than the Saints right now. And this game will be for the last place in the division in the NFC South, which is really, really crazy to say. I’m excited for Tyler Shuck and this team because I think that this is an opportunity to have a statement win. And I do think with the game that you had last week against Carolina, Tyler Shuck played incredible, if you have that type of performance from Tyler Shuck again and you beat the Falcons, you will immediately see him become a very big fan favorite. He will win brownie points through the roof in New Orleans. And amongst Saints fans, I can confidently say that Tyler Shuck is a player that has the ability to beat any given team. He saw or we saw what happened when he went against the Carolina Panthers. And anyone can say, “Oh, it’s the Panthers, this that the other, but they’re not a horrible team. I mean, Bryce Young today almost threw for 500 yards, 448 to be exact, but still. I mean, Tyler Shuck outdooled Bryce Young last week. If the defense can show up and the Saints offense can get going, they could win by like 30 points. I’m not even kidding. Chris Lave has been known to have good games against the Falcons. Obviously, you will not have Rasheed Shahid because you treated traded him away. You need to get Devon Vele more targets. You found ways to get him more snaps last week, but you need to get him more targets. You need to get him more catches, and you need to feed him the football a little bit more. You need to get Devin Neil to be a bigger factor in my opinion. Uh Jar I almost said Jared Cook Jawan Johnson he needs to have a really big impact on the offense and you got to get that ground game through AK really moving like I’m not going to sit here and say this is a surefire win for the New Orleans Saints but you’re the home team and we know what happens to Atlanta when they come to the Super Dome. It doesn’t go well for them and I have all the confidence in the world in this team because I saw that they could beat a divisional opponent. I saw that they could put together some good drives. I’ve saw that they can play a cleaner brain of football if they just pick some things up. If they figure some things out and they just iron out some of these wrinkles, I think that they are going to show the consistent development, consistent growth, and you will see this team potentially walk out with the win on Sunday. Now, we will monitor the situation. Obviously, we do not know what will happen with Drake London, with Michael Pennix. Um, but we will make sure you are informed.
