I mean, at the end of the day it’s football. It’s something we watch for entertainment. My life isn’t actually affected by it.
It’s one game. This nfl season seems pretty wide open and we’re still 7-4.
League is weird, bye next week then the POS raiders. We’re fine, just clearly not championship good
Over the years you learn to just accept the pain that is this team
After a loss like the one today, I just keep the Bolts completely out of my mind for a full week the best I can until next game
Cope by watching the other afc west teams lose
I have only learned over time on how to do it. It used to take such a ton out of me to where I couldn’t even function on Sunday nights, it got pretty bad. I always come back to remember that only 1 team wins it all every year, and we are lucky to be 7-4 and not 4-7. There are a ton of teams that are right around .500 and we are in a decent position to keep things afloat, depending on how the coaching adjustments are. The O-Line being this bad has been the hardest part because it actually couldn’t get any worse than it currently is, but I guess it can only get better?
Sports aren’t life, as much as it feels like it sometimes.
Go to the gym, blast pearl jam and forget about the pain
By having zero emotional attachment lol.
Been a fan since 1977, my heart is hardened!
The same way I coped the last 100 times.
I hate watch the Chiefs or Pats or anything other good team. Also watched the 49ers with my Dad.
They have the bye next week just regroup and keep going
I spend the rest of my day dooming on Reddit/twitter/group chats. Incredibly sad up until Tuesday and then I remember that I love this team so much and start getting excited for the next game. Through the good and bad I fucking love the Chargers. And always will. Must win 2 weeks from now. BOLT UP⚡️⚡️⚡️
Turned the game off in the third quarter and took my kids to the park. I get upset when they lose but at the end of the day it’s pretty low on the list of things that should be important.
Disassociating mostly
Wheres jordan mcfadden? Why we let him go? Dudes ballin’
After this L I rewatch the Bozeman video NFL posted & just get a good laugh
After a loss like that, I usually avoid most football games and analysis until they have a chance to play again. I got a lot done around the house today! 😂
I cope by playing madden, and play like an actual good team…
I’m throwing in the towel, walking into work tomorrow looking like the Uni bomber and kicking any small things in my way. We suck.
Was busy picking up family from airport and sightseeing. Checked in on the game, saw we were getting obliterated, I was just like, “eh…we not winning the Superbowl this year.” Stopped checking in on the game, had a great rest of my day
Easy, as a fan for over 35+years and then them moving to LA you care less and less.
Familiarity with the situation. The heart breaks but it will mend.
Play as the Chargers in Madden helps me tbh.
This was a middling team even before Alt went down, games we shouldn’t lose don’t really surprise me this season, however, that they essentially quit today is surprising. I’m glad they have a long flight home and 2 weeks to think about this one.
Life goes on
I’m a veteran at this point, no coping needed when you expect it to happen.
Not even Harbaugh can save this team!
peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich.
I rarely sit down and watch a full game. On average, I think I’ll sit down and watch one full Charger game per season. Since I started watching them in 2008, there has always been disappointment and frustration. I forgot the last time the Chargers made me feel confident in their performance, and over the years, I’ve decided to not invest as much of my time in a team that always infuriates me. It’s a weird loyalty that us fans of cursed franchises have, but it would feel incredibly wrong to dump this team and root for anyone else—I spiritually chose this team, I guess.
I expect very little from this team, and keep my expectations low: that is how I cope. I’ve come to expect them to lose trap games like this, especially after beating a decent to good team like the Steelers. I let any chargers victory be a pleasant surprise, and I root for the team regardless. I sincerely wish and hope for them to succeed because they’re my team, but I watch at a distance. Sure, there is great talent to watch on this team, and I’ve been lucky enough to see plenty of superstars in the time I’ve been watching, but I’ve had better days tempering my expectations.
Easily.
I am in no way, shape, or form part of the team or organization. There is quite literally not one single thing I could have possibly done to change the outcome of the game.
Do I wish the Chargers had won? Absofuckinglutely! I want them to go undefeated every year, and every single loss sucks haha. But there’s a little rule I love to help in negative situations…
**• Is there anything I can do or could have done to change the outcome?**
*If yes, why stress about it? I have the ability and means to learn, grow, and better myself and/or the situation.*
*If no, why stress about it? It is out of my hands, and therefore should be out of my mind.*
As a fan of the Chargers for over 40 years this is normal. You learn not too get to high on the Chargers, ever, because they will disappoint you. The AFC Championship game they won in ’95 (1994 season) was such a fun and great day only to be completely forgotten two weeks later.
The girl that I was seeing broke things off with me, and we lost. I don’t know which one is worse
This is my 18th year. Been a diehard fan since I was 7. I just laugh now because this franchise is comically predictable. just accept who and what we are and don’t have high expectations
By remembering we’re still 7-4 with a bye next week and a game against LV afterwards. We’re still in great position, stop being dramatic
Drugs
Chiefs losing kinda helps. And a bag of lifesavers gummies.
I’ve been a Chargers fan since 1980. The best team I’ve ever seen was 2006. They were absolutely loaded on both sides of the ball. And even then, they found a way to break hearts
Honestly shit sucks but really makes u step outside of sports and be grateful to have the shit in your life that matters. I personally give my wife and kid a kiss and try hard to not bring the mood down with my behavior and carry on with life until the next week. It’s not my kids fault her dad picked a shitty fucking team to obsess over
The key is never to hope.
Watch Luka Doncic play for the Lakers
They didn’t care this game. Why should I.
Personally I’m drinking
lol when I got into Chargers fandom back in 2004 – I felt the same way after the 06 div loss and all the possible heart breaks.
On the old chargers.com forums, I saw replies where fans from the 80s Fouts era were replying the same “first time?” -esque responses.,and could never emphasize. Now 20 years later, I’m where those Fouts era fans are.
Can’t imagine what those fans went thru during the 94 SB run however.
