“Jiri Kulich Will Miss Significant Time” | Lindy Ruff Gives Injury Updates | Buffalo Sabres

Uh Lenny Samuelson and uh I know you were hoping maybe Benson but he wasn’t. Yeah, Samson uh maintenance. Uh Benson still is not to a point where he can practice with us. Same with Yuri and uh Yuri um Yuri’s going to miss uh I’ll just tell you it’s going to miss significant time and it’s um related to a blood clot that was that was found. I’m not going to go any further into details, but uh pretty serious. Zucker, I’ll give you update too. Uh real severe viral or like flu-l like thing that just he hasn’t been able to shake. Uh undergone a lot of tests and still isn’t doing that well. Is Ben going to come on the trip with you? Is it possible during the trip you could see him? We’re going to discuss that whether it’s better to to come or stay back and uh keep undergoing treatment. You know, Samuelson has gone through a couple maintenance days, but you saw, you know, another outing Saturday from him. You really need your guys to step up with Darene out. How significant has his play been? It’s been like really since uh day one. Um Samson’s play has been very good. His penalty killing has been outstanding. His physicality has been has been good. Um he is a guy that has to has to step up and I thought he did step up in that game. Uh so uh I think coming into camp uh coming in the shape he came in um just ready to play is he’s he’s been a difference maker for us. Guys like Ryan Mloud his line with Don and Tuck was one of the I think seven best in the NHL analytically. He goes to Thompson and Tuck in the third period. They were dominant when he was centering with them. Uh so that’s two different lines. He seems to done a good job leading the way, hasn’t he? Yeah, I think uh when you look at it, he’s a you know, he’s a good driver because uh his speed through the middle is is something that helps create a lot of opportunities. Uh you look at the uh the Thompson in alone play. Uh you look at in the third period when he threw it out li threw it out wide and got in behind him and missed on his own opportunity. Uh the drive on the Thompson goal. So yeah, he’s he’s a good driver for for offense and I think that that helped those two guys. Uh in the absence of Kik obviously we we we were struggling to score five on five goals. I think to get three uh I thought if you want to go through lines I thought the the Greenway line and I thought uh whether Cozy was in there uh or Don and that line had two or three good opportunities in the third period. So uh chemistry wise at uh maybe five on five we found a little something. Jones has had a good season so far in Rochester. Are you thinking of maybe alternating him and Bryson? Are you going to stick with Bryson for a while or? Uh, well, I thought Bryson had a real good night. I, you know, against the heavy team, I think u Bryson’s play was is what we needed in Dalene’s absence. Uh, I think when we look at Jones, we’re we’re looking at a guy that could maybe step in on the offensive side on the power play and maybe help us on one of the units. Uh, so we’re just weighing, you know, that versus five on five play. I know Carolina’s obviously a tough team to gauge. They play so hard and they they have the speed, but how do you get more out of Byum, especially Byron and K? They had they had a tough night. Uh there’s there’s no denying it. Uh I thought their puck play wasn’t very good. Uh breaking the puck out. Uh they struggled. Uh that hurt us. I thought that was the one pair that we needed to to have step up that um just they just made individual mistakes breaking the puck out that really hurt them. Andy, as far as the goal scoring goes, I mean, you’ve done, if you look at the numbers, you’ve done most of it. It’s just the finish. Are are you encouraged by that? Are you do you feel it’ll come if you keep doing what you’ve been doing for the most part? I guess I you know, I think when you look at uh expected goals uh and some of the opportunities that have gone by the wayside, we’ve created enough opportunities, we just haven’t finished. Uh, I’d be worried if our if we weren’t creating enough. I think to start the year, uh, those first three games, we created very little. I think we went through a stretch where we we really started to create a lot. Last game, we created enough. Uh, we’ve hit a lot of posts. I think we hit the most post in the league right now. Uh, so maybe it it’s a little bit better on the finish. Uh, but still playing well away from the puck. Do you think if Yuri will be able to play again this season? Um I I’m going to say yes. Um that really depends on how things go here in the next, you know, 3, four weeks. Darlene skated this morning. Were you expecting that to happen when he was over there? Did you know about that or? He said when he left he’s going to be he’s going to be skating. Um did you have live video then? There is video. You guys are on top of it. How’d he look? Looked like himself. No, he said he was taking his stuff and he was going to skate and when he gets back he’s ready to go. So, uh, you know, I think that’s a competitor, you know. Considering he was with the pro team there for a long day, that helps too, doesn’t it? That he’s skating with a pro team. Yeah. You know, obviously to get to to get in that level. uh you know when you miss miss a week if you’re not doing anything it really hurts but uh to stay active and stay on the ice and and be with uh good players uh big benefit benefit for us and for him. You feel like you want to get a game. Yes. Yes. For sure. He will play this trip.

  1. So both the Sabres and Bills fired their respective training staffs, and hired the same company, correct? And both teams are having their seasons ruined by mind numbing injuries, correct? Yet, no one is talking about this?

  2. Yup great trade Adams he is definitely worth Sam Reinhart….. Lets also remember that other amazing trade where we sent not only Cozens to Ottawa for Norris but we even added a 2nd rd pick this upcoming draft aswell! Just a amazing front office we have, playoffs here we come!🙃
