This feels like a cursed season where everything that could go wrong does go wrong. All the luck we’ve had over the last few years is now going against us. Honestly kind of feels like we deserve this season.
There’s problems all over the field, but it has to start with looking at the two most important people in the organization being Andy and Pat. Andy after a bye should be automatic, yesterday was a massive disappointment from the coaching. Pat hasn’t been playing close to his best lately either. Pick 6 vs Jags cost us that game and his dumb INT yesterday took 3 points off the board in a 3 point game.
I’m not calling for anyone’s head, but there has to be a deep reflection internally going into next year. Defense needs someone who can be a game changer, whether that’s through pass rushing or a ball hawking DB doesn’t matter to me.
Offense needs to find new ways of success because it feels like we’re running an outdated offense. Get a RB with some explosiveness in their game. Find a better WR than Hollywood. Pat needs to make less mistakes. As much as people want to think differently, it isn’t as easy as just firing Nagy and replacing him with someone else. It’s Andy’s offense, and Pat’s the guy running things on the field. We need those two to be better.
On the bright side, if things continue spiraling out of control we get a great draft pick and a third place schedule next year. It could be just what we need to kickstart the team for both next year and beyond.
A lot of people blaming Veach for a roster that fans insist is bad, but when Veach brought in a pass rusher who is now excellent on the Eagles last year, what did Spags do with him? Just had Uche as a healthy scratch every week.
It doesn’t matter how good of a GM Veach is if the coaches have their favorites and refuse to utilize better talent. And Veach cannot override any coach because Andy will back them.
Coming to the realization that we can’t be in the superbowl every year only missing one in the last 6 years is an amazing accomplishment
Well, no one can say, “Oh, the Chiefs are just getting lucky” like last year. We’re 0-5 in one-score games. Imagine we would be in a much better position if we had won even just 2 of them. I thought we still would’ve had a chance to win the division if we had won yesterday. That’s probably not gonna happen now. There’s still a chance to make the playoffs as a wild card until we’re mathematically eliminated, but it’ll probably be tough because we’ve lost to the Chargers, Bills, and Jaguars.
But, it might not be the worst thing in the world to have a draft pick in the teens and a second or third place schedule (depending on how the Chargers do) next year.
I’ve seen a potential third place schedule in 2026 discussion in a few places since the game ended. It’s only 2-3 games that are impacted by where you finish. Yes, 2 or 3 more wins obviously help, but it’s not like the entire schedule will be easier. It really boils down to what AFC and NFC division you get, and those are set regardless of position as the entire AFC West plays those. Next year it looks like they get the AFC East and NFC West, so it’s not getting much easier…
6 AFC West games.
4 games vs another AFC Division that are also played by your division foes.
4 games vs another NFC Division that are also played by your division foes.
2 games based on your position in the division the previous season.
1 random NFC game to make up the 17th game.
We need to think of things in context. Brady won 7 Superbowls. But there were some dry spells when he was with the Patriots.
So maybe this isn’t our year. But it doesn’t mean we can’t retool and come back next season.
Honestly finishing with a higher draft pick wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. Picking towards the end of each round catches up to you eventually. Plus having a full offseason to rest up for the first time in 7 years might do wonders as well. They were gonna have to retool eventually.
I’ve reached the point where I’m willing to make a concession.
So I know Andy Reid is the real offensive coordinator on this team.
But for all the fire Nagy folks, I’m open to firing Nagy if the new OC is a real OC. As in someone with their own ideas, isn’t a yes man to Andy, and actually calls plays. Andy has to take a step back and be just the HC. Not the person also running the offense.
His system with everything it has just isn’t working with the style of offense that’s working or what this team needs. Chiefs need to be less shotgun reliant. They can’t run the ball well out of it. They can however run it well from under center. Oops, Andy doesn’t really like that. Running it just isn’t his thing. Sorry. New OC is calling the plays. As it is now, you know if the Chiefs are passing or running based on what formation they’re in. If they’re in shotgun? Just pass rush. They can’t run it out of there anyways and don’t do it. We also need an OC who is willing to call a QB sneak… Andy chimes in “but this one time Pat go..” sorry Andy. Not your call. New OC called a QB sneak, we’re running it.
So long as we can do that, I’m game for firing Nagy then. But ultimately what I’m getting at is that it’s time for Andy to stop being the HC & OC at the same time.
We go 6-1 from here and make it as a wild card team
Bills gonna sleep walk to the superbowl
a lot of people seem to think the Bills will make the super bowl without the chiefs in playoffs but I gotta disagree. Their qb absolutely chokes under any kind of pressure
if we win next week i’ll have a lot more hope. and it’s a home game…
I want to start or jump on the fire toub train. ST has been pretty damn awful this season. It cost us at least a few games
They seem to make a major mistake every game whether it is the returners, never getting much of a run back or holding and blocking the back if we do
Butker missing so many kicks or that he still hasn’t figured out the new kickoffs
ST has been a liability for a long time, it was just covered up because butker made so many FGs
This defense gave up almost 300 yards passing and 22 points to Bo Nix without his top rb. They couldn’t even get the Broncos offense off the field on the final drive.
Every time we made the AFCCG in a row it became more likely we would have a bad year. The Mahomes era floor wasnt going to be a OT loss in the semifinals. That just isnt sustainable. Having a bad year isnt the end of the world but it sure is exposing the bandwagons.
Sure, the Broncos defense is amazing, but every time we got something going we drew a flag and it killed any sort of rhythm or momentum.
Our offense lost the game for us yesterday, and considering the weapons we have available, the coaching staff has to be held accountable.
Almost 5yds a carry?? F&$k it someone’s down there I can over throw.
For all of the people STILL not seeing how dire our situation is (and it was already dire last week and people told me I was crazy). We are now 2 games out of being a wildcard team. Even if we win out, the Chargers or Jags would need to lose 2 games each – with the Chargers’ loss needing to be against us. Both teams have cupcake schedules remaining with only 2-3 difficult games left each.
Try it for yourself. Find us a believable path to the playoffs.

Turns out if you give Mahomes weapons at WR and a better OL it still doesn’t matter
Looks like the final wildcard spot is the target, boys!
I’m just glad Butker is back to costing us games
I personally thought the 15-1 season was more fun.
If the coaches don’t spend all week making every pass catcher do catching drills, it’s offensive malpractice
Rice was the worst last night but there were others too
It’s hard for pat to look good when he’s hitting WRs in the hands and they just drop it
The chiefs basically ignored Thornton for weeks now to try and force rice and even worthy to a degree into the whole focus of our offenxe
Some of you forgot the sign

I would like to see a breakdown on our rushing as a comparison between under center vs gun the last couple years but especially this season.
I don’t know if it was all of them, but I saw a Twitter post from Mitchell Schwartz that said we had runs under center last night of 5, 7, and 11 yards. He makes it a point in that post as well that its a big issue he sees with our offense because we dont do it enough so it feels like a gimmick. I am very inclined to agree with him.
While not in fire everybody territory, its so disappointing seeing this super bowl caliber team flop without really losing anyone.
Sure, Thuney’s gone, but that shouldnt have caused such a collapse.
The O-line is still an undisciplined mess, the defense continues to let up on opponents we could throttle and the offense continues to struggle. It seems so old and stale.
Yes we need better RBs (really couldve used Hall right about now), but I think it’s time to shake up coaches/coordinators
People are being more doom than is warranted. That Denver Defense is going to be a historic Defense (ranked 3rd in the NFL). Our defense played well, and our offense, while not being fantastic still had a lot of missed opportunities/drops, that if fixed will put us right back to being an elite team.
The game literally came down to a missed false start. This Bronco’s team is good, and as I much as I hate the Denver Donkey’s it’s not like they’re the team of the last few years. Brady’s patriots ended up missing the playoffs entirely in the middle of the dynasty, and people were saying it was over for them back then too.
The Chiefs largest problem are penalties, maintaining a healthy O-line, and execution on offense. The play calling has been questionable at times but it’s not what is making us lose games.
We’re actually not making the playoffs, look at the chargers and jags schedules.
Incredible fumble of Pats prime and Kelces last year by veach and andy.
Look what jaelen phillips is doing in philly. I guarantee whatever pick veach makes in the third round won’t compare
Are there any metrics that track tipped, batted, or blocked passes by defensive linemen? In the past, the DL was effective even without generating a strong pass rush because they got into passing lanes. That doesn’t seem to be happening this season. Get those hands up, guys!
What pisses me off most about that game last night was the way that we lost. We had the ball on offense at our 30 yard line with 4:00 minutes left and we couldn’t even muster a first down. Most important game of the season and we pissed down our leg.
By all accounts this was a MUST win game to save the season. While we’re not completely eliminated from playoff contention, it’s going to be significantly more difficult and will require help from other teams. Winning the division is essentially impossible at this point.
So this isn’t a shock but Pat just can’t throw a good deep ball right now. It looks like he’s trying to hit every speed WR perfectly in stride 50+ yards down the field and that’s hard.
Put some air under it man. It’s okay to let the WR fight for it.
This is why, and this is a part gripe at Andy, big WRs are nice. Worthy Pat likely has to hit perfectly and Pat can’t or isn’t doing it. Well surprise, surprise the Chiefs best WR at doing this is the 6’2 guy. Who would have thought?
The big pass play yesterday was a 50/50 ball and our tall guy won it.
Not saying I don’t like Worthy. I do. But I wish this team leaned into more big WRs vs small ones which is an Andy thing. Our best deep threat WR is a lucky find tall guy. Our teams overall best WR is a guy who isn’t in the mold of the typical Andy preferred WR in a tall-ish big, physical WR.
