He should pass Marcel Dionne this year for 6th.
He could pass Gordie Howe next season for 4th.
He could pass Jagr if he plays one more!! Sadly I don't think he'll reach 2000!
BUT, Jagr might comeback to the NHL if Sid comes too close to his record, and who knows what happens then!

Whether jagr wants to come back or not, there is no team that is gonna actually sign him to play. The pens might sign him so he can retire as a pen
He’d be there already if it weren’t for those gawt-dang concussions
Crosby needs to play 2189 more games at his same career pts/game pace to pass Gretzky. Assuming 84 game seasons, thats 26 more seasons, Crosby would be 64 years old when he passes Gretzky in all time points
Jagr is 53, he’s not getting an actual contract in the NHL. If anyone could, it would be him, but no 53 year old has boots to keep up with the pace in this league. Corey Perry doing what he does at his age is a miracle, and even he is 13 years younger than Jagr.
I’d bet he doesn’t give a damn.
1723 points in less than 1000GP is BONKERS
The post sounded serious up until you said Jagr will be resigned.
Jagr isn’t coming back. No team would sign him. He is not at that caliber anymore. Not even close to it.
In hearing Bruins might sign Bourque or Bobby to spot duty while McAvoy is out.
Sid has a chance of passing all the way up to Marcel Dionne this season
I think Sid get 2,000. He is still paying at a very high level and his fitness is legendary. Not bad for a guy whose career was almost over before it began, thanks to concussions.
Hes going to play until her 55 so yeah he ‘ll make it
Up until this year, I would have said “probably not”. He’s committed to being a forever Penguin, their trajectory wasn’t good, and he has said that he didn’t want to play forever. With how the year has gone so far, barring injury, it looks like it could happen. Would be a wonderful capstone on the most storied career of the post-millennium NHL.
And we all know Crosby will never reach 2000. The inevitable end to his career will be an immediate retirement at point one thousand, nine hundred and eighty seven
In a world with Wayne Gretzky, second place is all you can ever hope for
