with the first pick in the 1996 NBA draft. I had the first round pick and I couldn’t mess this up. The city would torn and feather me. The Philadelphia 76ers select Allan Iverson from Georgetown University. A sixoot guard from Georgetown. Number three. He’s the question, the answer, and the unknown. As far as I’m concerned, he’s Philadelphia. Allan was that perfect storm for him. He was just that perfect guy. He fit the Philadelphia culture. He fit the Philadelphia fabric. Come out, roll your sleeves up, get after it, get down and dirty. Iverson for the record. Yes. And there it is. Everyone some one brings up Philadelphia to me I think, β Oh that city AI carried for longestβ
He was so fast. Great player.
Best ever: 1) MJ 2) Koby 3) Dr J 4) AI
I wish some of these guys could play forever. Like MJ and AI.
The answer. The question. The unknown AND THEE REASON that EVERYBODY in the whole league and across the damn US wore cornrows and a headband! π
ONE man stated that and the whole trend of street wear to games n on the sideline.
I was 19yrs old when Iverson was drafted in 1996.
What made me so excited about rooting for his success before he played a single game was in-part because he literally looked like he could be a regular dude in my age range from any neighborhood.
He had a face like a teenager with a regular athletic build and height at a time when NBA players were extraordinarily tall, muscular, or looked like older men.
Then when he brought the flare of playground style and it was effective along with his swaggerβ¦.mannnn he had the entire generation rocking with him!
Pat C. got this 1 right βοΈ
The only AI we ever needed
Tar and featherπ bros truly from there
Allen Iverson is my #1 Player of all time. He was that guy. Everytime he stepped on the courtππ
