[Mike Clay] TMacs lowest target share since jets game still went 8-130-2

  1. Bryce was actually spreading the ball around, love to see XL and Coker get involved, Bryce actually looked like a “point guard” today

  2. That might sound counter-intuitive but it’s not – TMac isn’t some Megatron level outside receiver who Mosses people every play in double coverage. He’s a versatile guy who can operate from a lot of places but needs space to operate. We didn’t have guys getting open or running routes that the defense cared about. If XL catches a TD and Coker makes plays then suddenly TMac has that extra foot of space he needs

This is a team sport. Every single player feeds off each other, it’s never on just one guy

  3. Dave and Bryce showed some faith in XL and Coker and they looked like a legitimately good team

  4. Helps that Bryce had more than 25 attempts (first time since the Dolphins game September 5th). TMac gets an average of 8 targets a game (12 yesterday).

XL was effective, Coker was efficient, and they got the TEs involved. The passing game actually looked in sync.

  5. That’s a good thing, it means the ball’s getting spread out. Offenses focused on one guy only rarely work.

  6. I feel like we were putting way too much on McMillan and having more people share the workload will make him more productive

  7. The opening drive felt like a bunch of dink and duck short passes, but it worked. It really didn’t seem any different than any other game. Then as the game went on they kept giving Bryce more and more leeway and he kept hitting so they ran with it.
The crazy part and what makes no sense to me is the whole game it felt like Bryce was about to get sacked and the run game never broke through. This is so out of character from everything else we’ve seen. Hopefully it unlocks another tier of what he’s capable of.
