What Moves are the Guardians Planning This Offseason? – Sports4CLE, 11/12/25
Let’s head to the voicemail of Truth and Reason for a Guardians question. Hey Dave, love the show. I just have a question for you. I know it’s still kind of early because the World Series just ended and I know that the Guardian have made a few moves, you know, coaching moves. They just hired a new coach from the Mariners, but have you heard anything about like what they’re doing player-wise or trying to resign anybody? Just trying to hear your thoughts. Go Guardians. As always, appreciate all of the voicemails. So, the Guardians declined club options on John Means, uh, Kobe Aldrid, Ben Lively, Will Wilson, Dom Nunes, uh, Lane Thomas, and Jacob Junior. So, all those guys became free agents. Um, uh, other than means, the the other guys were outrighted to Columbus and they elected free agency. So, they currently have 37 on their 40man roster. Gives them some flexibility. Um heading into the offseason, there’s owner meetings happening November 18th through the 20th. That’s where they lay the foundation for things for uh the winter meetings which happen uh in December and that’s where some of the trades and those kind of things will happen. Um there is some talk uh that the Dodgers are going to make a hard run at Steven Quan. Again, they did at the trade deadline yet to be seen. Um Guardians would like to extend them. It’s going to depend on what that price is. And remember, there is some labor unrest, not this year, the following year, uh, where the owners are expected to try to bring in a salary cap to baseball. So, all that will figure into free agency and what’s going on. Uh, not any real news just yet, but keep an ear out for Stephen Quan.
Dave Bacon responds to a fan’s voicemail regarding what the Guardians could be aiming to do in the offseason.

The plan is to trade their second best player (Kwan) for prospects. Isn't that what they always do instead of paying them?
