Jeff Petry Plays in No. 1000: Vancouver Canucks at Florida Panthers
Quite a nice milestone, huh? Yeah, I mean it’s uh you know something to be proud of and never would have dreamed about you know playing a thousand games um you know fortunate to play one and then um um yeah so just enjoy it and um you know it’s uh it’s a good uh personal accomplishment and uh you know I think uh can be proud of that but uh just make sure that uh you you know that playing a team game. Um, obviously there’s a lot of guys in here that uh have uh, you know, accomplished the the ultimate dream and they want to do it again. And, uh, you know, that’s, uh, you know, what I’m kind of building throughout this season is to to, um, to reach that. Yeah. The last couple years, I mean, last year especially, that seemed to be a theme with some guys that were, you know, I want to be part of this, too. I mean, is that kind of fueling you? Um, yeah. I mean obviously um you know you see what they’ve accomplished over the last uh handful of years and um you know that’s something that uh you know every kid or every player that plays in this league dreams of. So um you know doing whatever I can to to help uh you know build to get to the team to a to a spot that uh um you know at the end of the year that you’re uh you’re you’re having that good feeling. You guys have had a handful of different milestones as a group lately. Brad gets thousand points. We’ve had a couple hundred goal scorers. Different things like that. You’re hitting a thousand games tonight. The season’s a long grind. How nice is to have these milestones. It’s kind of a rallying point for the whole group throughout the season. Yeah, I mean it’s uh you know it’s like you said the year is it’s a long year and there’s there’s ups and downs and um you know throughout the course of the year and um you know I think little milestones uh you know you see them on the radar and then um you know when they come up and they happen it’s uh yeah it gives the the group a boost. I know um you know we had quite a few of them in the in the same game uh there last week. So, you know, that’s uh you know, it’s an exciting time to to get a little boost. Uh, you know, 1,000 points is, you know, it’s that’s an incredible milestone for sure. Obviously, the season moves so fast. Do you have time to reflect on a day like this when you hit a thousand or is that something you think about down the road? Yeah, I think it’s something you think about down the road. I think uh you know, leading up to it, you think about, you know, your your first game um and you know, where where the time goes. Um, you know, I think there’s there’s times throughout the year where, you know, things, um, you know, I think it can seem long and at different points at different years, uh, depending on how the team’s doing, I think it’s, uh, you know, there’s there’s those days, but, uh, you know, and looking back at the whole picture, it’s just it it goes by quick. So, um, you got to enjoy the the time that you do have. throughout the years you said great fortune to play one now you’re at your thousand way have you learned about yourself as a player throughout this journey. Um yeah I mean I think it’s been you know I look back at my start in Edmonton and um you know that’s uh you know something that um kind of in that rebuild thing. So, it gave me an opportunity to play a lot um a lot of games and a lot of time early on and um you know kind of figure out who I was as a player and I think it really uh came around when I was traded to Montreal and um you know established myself there and um you know kind of figured out the game that uh that gave me success and then um you know as time goes on um you know you’re you have to adjust to the to the game, to your body, to different things. So, um you know, I think it’s been a kind of an ever evolving um career, I guess. Belt.
